As the Republican Party continues its pilgrimage through the desert, its leaders may be missing the oasis for the vale of tears. [...]The answer is . . . drum roll, please . . . women.
If the GOP is really serious about expanding the party, it’s time for the men to hush and let the pros take over. [...]
In the past few months, several conservative women have emerged as candidates and critics to challenge the notion that the GOP is the party of men. They’re also putting to rest any thought that Sarah Palin is the female face of the party.
The McCain campaign had the right idea; it just picked the wrong woman.
Hand that woman a saucer of milk. Ms. Parker’s hostility to Sarah Palin and anyone who dares to support her is no secret.
But her Look Over here! list demonstrates Parker has slipped a gear: Meg Whitman, Carly Fiorina, Liz Cheney and Meghan McCain.
Parker dismisses Palin in favor of a (in her words) “a 24-year-old celebrity blogger whose fame is (thus far) inherited”. That’s it. That’s all Parker can find to recommend Meghan and include her with three other accomplished women.
As as you can see from Meg’s Twitter account picture, this is a serious, thoughtful open-minded young lady, with good judgement. ::ahem:::
the socially liberal McCain, though she may not please the party elders, appeals to younger voters who otherwise wouldn’t consider lifting the flap on the old man’s tent.Four women: a pro-life hawk; a pro-choice, pro-gay rights libertarian; two entrepreneurs, one pro-choice and one pro-life. This doesn’t sound like your daddy’s Republican Party, but it could be your daughter’s — if the men wise up.
Kathleen has some issues and I dare say they go beyond concern trolling for the GOP.

Committed conservatives are those who get conservative core principals of less government, less taxes, less spending, pro life, and national defense. It is a big tent that can include log cabin Republicans, athiests, religious folks, and a host of others. Politicians should be happy warriors who understand that while there is compromise in politics, there should not be compromise on core principals.

It just isn’t… interesting any more. All the spunk and verve the place once had is completely gone. he’s on a one-man campaign to hunt down every extreme comment ever made on the net. ok.
Does the GOP and libertarianism each have some distatasteful elements? Of course, but they are a minority.
I totally support losing the likes of Pamela Geller and RS McCain, but he’s now on to some sort of spiritual and worldview purity test, not just on the part of the candidates, but on their followers as well.
I’ll say it once more. the greatest and easiest low hanging fruit in the history of comment cherry picking was at LGF between 2002 and 2006. It was really was a convocation of Jewish ultra-rightists and absurdist military fan-boys, willing to fight the good fight–an ever-expanding interventionist US combat presence everywhere and anywhere, directed from their living rooms. Except instead of killing orcs with elves, they were begging to send US soldiers to eliminate the Islamofascist threat.
Its his blog, so he should do what he wants. I just want to remind people that when i talked to Dennis the Peasant about when he left PJM after getting humped by Roger Simon, he noted that he was happy to not work with one of the few true-haters he had ever met. I asked him for clarification and he told me that CJ was one of the few bigots he had personally known, convicted with a true hatred of Islam that had no real distinction between the ordinary rank and file and the likes of Hizbollah and Hamas.

But I think his route of argumentation is an appropriate and respectful one with respect to social conservatives that want to legislate things that I’d rather they not. Pointing to the Establishment Clause. That’s fair. Most people just ridicule religious people. Which, he does his share of that. But I think the Right’s way out of its social conservative marketing disaster is through a deference to the establishment clause, but since there are hardly any people on the right that like to talk about that, we need our Barrett Browns I think. All that Focus on the Family hoo hah really destroys any inroads with yoots. nishi was so right about that, and it’s bad bad bad for our little country for nishi to be right about that.

Take the high road & ignore LGF. I say that as someone who is opposed to creationism & thinks the GOP should do something to address global warming.
BTW-McCain’s ditzy act is classic rope-a-dope. She is a lot more interesting than some of us are willing to admit. Like Sarah Palin, she knows how to use her appearance to push an agenda. That’s not as easy as one might think. Carrie Prejean’s a perfect 10. Yet despite courageously & correctly speaking out on the marriage issue, she’s nowhere near as effective as McCain.
