SNL dips its big-toe into the pond of mocking The Once. B- because while the writing is funny the actor never makes an effort to capture Barry’s talking cadence or tics.

Rickbert, I believe the Once to have been coined by PeterUK over at JustOneMinute round a month or so ago, though it makes so much good sense, it may well have been independently discovered by any number of people at or around the same time.

My older brother is a sheriff’s deputy. He told me these things make the officer feel more secure. Once, I was pulled over for speeding (I was). I told the officer that my wallet was in my coat pocket in the backseat and told him that I was going to get that wallet.

No hate here. In fact, I’m getting nostalgic for the days when I lived in California and thought I was getting somewhere.
And in an odd sort of left(heh!)-handed way, I’m beginning to feel a little sorry for Barack. Yes, his approval ratings are still moderately high, though they are dropping, but where they are now is strictly a matter of publicity — he’s constantly before the public eye, he looks good and talks purty, and whether or not there’s such a thing as bad publicity all he’s getting outside the circles of wonks and politikers is good.
Trouble is, it’s a Red Queen’s race. I can’t believe that Meet the Press would have him on every Sunday, and he’s running out of public venues to make speeches glorifying his glorious self. If he ever stops, disappears from the direct public eye the way Bush didn’t mind doing, Criswell Predicts that his ratings will drop like a rock, so he has to run as hard as he can to stay in the same place.
Regards,
Ric

That is only if you think people Soladad O’Brian, Emilo Estavez, and Benjamin Bratt are not “white”, but not that it really matters. I could care less if people are black, Latino, Indian (east), etc. Black population growth is flat due to abortion (yet it only seems conservatives seem to care about that). Our biggest immigration is from Latin America and while some are black, most would be closer to call caucasian or caucasian-native american. The issue that really matters is not racial, but assimilation.

There are two things false in this statement. SBP has responded to the first.
The second is, presidents don’t “take control.” Nor, by the way, do they “run the country.” Even competent presidents who know what they’re doing (which rules out Obama) only get to oversee the operation of the executive branch of the United States government, a far more modest task.
Obama undoubtedly thinks he’s capable of “taking control of America” or “running the country,” but it is about as illustrative an example of reach exceeding grasp as any I’ve ever seen. He’s not even up to the job of overseeing the operation of a household trash compactor.

Has socialized medicine passed?
Have invaded Pakistan and captured/killed UBL?
What, exactly, has he accomplished?
He couldn’t even get the Olympics for his buddies in Chicago!
He has an overwhelming majority in congress and could pass his socialized health-care in a Chicago minute, but he will not, as he would “Own It” and he is not willing to take responsibility for anything.
He’s an empty suit playing the role of president. He’s got nothin’.
He’s a loser.

It’ll be hard to get our economic house in order by 2010, especially with pressure from the Left for new and expanded social programs. And now we’ve seen that Obama isn’t as well-liked overseas as he had hoped. We can’t count on the dollar being kept as the reserve country forever; all it would take to lose everything and the US becoming a third-world dump would be, say, Saudi Arabia deciding that China could be their new protector. Then, yanked from being the reserve standard, the dollar would plummet to nothingness, and Hello! Zimbabwe.
The U.S., without a manufacturing base (driven overseas by, yes, Democrat’s Unions and assorted environmental regulations and every sort of tax that Democrats could imagine, oh, and the stifling social programs let’s not forget those) we could not even feed ourselves.

I don’t know why you feel it necessary to blather to yourself. However, it should be noted that in counting the “Jewish” vote … since being a Jew is not like being a Mormon. In America, most Jews are NOT religious. They designate themselves as Jewish due to heritage or ethnicity. There are even Jewish atheists.
Indeed, there are anti-Israel “Jews” who want to see Israel destroyed (see Chomsky for one)
Secular Jews are majority Democrats, liberals and leftists. The more religious Jews are not. Unless a poll makes that distinction it is less then useless.
In Israel, Obama’s approval is in single digits.

Fox News has high ratings but compared to all of the other ‘real networks’ combined (ABC+CBS+NBC+CNN+MSNBC), they’re audience is small and comprised of a very narrow demographic: generally old and white.
I don’t mean to be picky, but this statement is wrong in every regard, and that’s discounting the unfortunate use of the contraction of “they are” instead of the possessive “belonging to them.”
A quick look at TV By The Numbers shows that Fox’s audience is actually comparable to its competitors combined. For Sept 25th, for example, Fox had viewership of 391,000 on the day, while CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, and Headline News combined for 500,000. At primetime, the numbers were 660,000 and 754,000.
What’s more, these numbers are for the 25-54 age demographic. Now, you may argue that the under-25 crowd doesn’t watch Fox, and you may be right. But you can’t say that the 25-54 demographic is exactly the one-foot-in-the-grave crowd. Similarly, you can argue that network news isn’t covered in this ratings poll, but I seriously doubt that the networks’ viewership skews young.
The racial argument I won’t get into, because 1) the TV By The Numbers doesn’t have that data, and 2) I think most people, black or white, tend to act like individuals rather than monolithic blocs. Being as your arguments tend toward the statist side of things, you may disagree.

You got the anti-semite part down
Sure thing, SFAG.
Comment by SBP on 10/6 @ 6:03 am #
P.S. maybe you should ask your Jewish friends (if any, which seems highly unlikely) whether your stupid, fascist, anti-Semitic self is entitled to speak for them.

Oh, and SFAG? Friday is Leif Erickson Day.
I for one am going to be highly offended if your stupid, fascist, anti-Semitic self destroys the dignity of the holiday by running your stupid, fascist, anti-Semitic mouth.
On the other hand this is also Mental Illness Awareness Week and today is Mad Hatter Day, so maybe you’re entitled to a pass.
BTW, got anything to say about SNL’s catalog of Obama failures?
Didn’t think so.

You use them for your political ends while discounting their self-identification as useless
No, that would be you, SFAG.
No-one will mistake you as a being jewish./I>
But everyone knows you’re an anti-Semitic fascist.
Sorry.

I see we have reached the pinnacle of your commenting abilities.
Translation: you have no response.
As usual.
P.S. just because today is National German-American Day doesn’t mean you get to give free rein to your Judenhass.

Here’s to gearing up for passing VAWA in 2010!
Better start figuring an angle where it gives lots of payoffs to greasy union thugs.
‘Cause that’s pretty much the only thing Obama’s done so far.
Got your student loans paid off yet, SFAG? Any sign of the free gas and mortgage payments?
Obama is cornholing you and your fellow cafe commies, sweetie. And you’re smiling and saying “Thank you, sir! May I have another?”

Yeah, I don’t get why Republicans hate Obama so much. It’s not like he’s done anything different than Bush.
We still have warrantless wiretapping, the Patriot Act is still law, we still can torture enemy combatants at Guantanamo, you can still be declared an enemy combatant by the government if you ever act against the government no matter what they do, we still have the Bush/Paulson/Obama/Geitner bailouts going on, nobody is being prosecuted in the financial sector no matter how many billions they’ve stolen, Goldman Sachs still controls our economy, Halliburton is still screwing soldiers, paid murderers/mercenries/”contractors” are stillin Iraq, the US is still hinting that they “might have to attack Iran” and somehow managing never to bring up Dimona or Mordechai Vanunu and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars are still going on.
Didn’t the Republicans love all this under Bush? Isn’t this what McCain stood for?
Oh wait, I know, the fake promises of national health care that will never, ever pass, I guess that’s why Republicans are so angry. That the president is now telling different lies than the last president did.
Yes, that’s a reason to hate him, I guess.
Good thing nobody voted for those crazy nuts like Ron Paul or Mike Gravel. They would have stopped lying to you, told you *gasp* some truth and actually done something different. Great to be in the former USA where every 4 years you get to chose between Fascists or Communists to ruin, I mean run, your nation. It’s not as if the only difference between the parties is rhetoric or something and voters are just mindless idiots pulling levers not even bothering to find out who is running or checking senate records, like when Obama voted to renew the Patriot Act, or when Obama openly talked about the “need to attack” Iran in 2006, etc.
God forbid, people actually go through the trouble of learning anything about their representatives before they vote for them. Just listen to tee-vee and talk radio. We all know they present all the facts before you. That’s why you all know what bills are being passed into law today, and why you know precisely what in bills like the Patriot Act.
RIGHT?

Indeed I said I cannot top ‘no you.’
“Yes, that’s a reason to hate him, I guess.”

Meya,
You are precisely the type of idiot in this nation that allows government to run all over you. Because you think the opposite of a Democratic policy is a Republican, and vice versa, instead of recognizing they have the same policies and different rhetoric/issues to get elected.
There is no difference between Obama and Bush, they are both equally awful, and since you think that parties, instead of people. represent different things, we’re trapped in this cycle because. Not only are idiots everywhere that are too lazy to do the necessary research to find out who they are voting for, they are too dumb to admit they’ve made a mistake and these idiots, idiots like you, vote in large mindless numbers.
You will always support “front runners”, and front runners are defined entirely by our media.
Even when it’s spelled out for you by a comedy show (of course, that’s they only way you can be reached is through television, you don’t know how to use the Internet for it’s intended purpose – research) you still don’t realize that you’ve been played for a sucker, and you are a sucker. Obama hasn’t changed a thing since Bush left office, and National Health Care, that wasn’t even an issue in the 2008 election, National Health Care is a canard. It’s something to keep idiot Democrats and idiot Republicans at their throats, as government continues to bankrupt the nation.
You’re not going to give a shit about gay marriage, about gays in the military, or abortion when the country collapses. Just like no Democrat is going to give a shit about national health care, or gays in the military, or flag burning, or school prayer when the nation goes insolvent. These are not issues.
MONEY – that’s an issue. Everything Bush did, just cost tons of money, and it costs money not because the government believes in these programs, it’s because the people who are the real power in this nation, are fleecing it, just prior to bankruptcy, just as the politburo in the USSR did, prior to it’s collapse.
