What to do when the American public sees through the scam known as “Cap and Trade”? Why just rename REBRAND it!
WASHINGTON – Senate Democrats tried out a new catch phrase Wednesday to sell their global warming bill: pollution reduction and investment, or PRI.But it’s just another name for cap and trade, a term derided by Republican critics as “cap and tax” because it will increase energy prices and which Democratic polls have shown faring poorly with voters.
The rebranding is an indication of the uphill battle the climate bill — which would cap greenhouse gases and also allow industries to buy emission allowances — faces in the Senate.
A number of Democratic senators, currently entangled in the heated health care debate, said they continued to have trouble with key elements of the climate legislation. Several said it would be a huge challenge — perhaps impossible — to try to get a climate bill passed this year.
The idea to remake cap and trade into pollution reduction and investment came from Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., author of the bill unveiled Wednesday. He came up with it about a month ago to refocus attention on what the bill would do, not how it goes about doing it.
“Cap and trade doesn’t mean anything to people, ” Kerry said in an interview, insisting that “this is an actual description of what’s happening here.”
Excuse me? “Cap and trade doesn’t mean anything to people,??!! Shorter Kerry: Cheese it, guys, they’re on to us!

I think that acronym is already taken, Partido Revolucionario Institucional, but in good socialist solidarity the Democrats can most likely get a license for temporary use.

It has become common knowledge that the majority of voters in Massachusetts and California are not very bright–but that doesn’t mean everyone else is stupid. I mean, is it even possible to come up with two more incompetent, egomanical, half-witted, descredited pieces of sh*t to propose alternative legislation to replace the transparent cap and tax disaster than Kerry and Boxer? Are Democrats really that damned stupid or do they sincerely think all the rest of us are? I know the answer embodies both explanations but it still causes my eyes to roll back into my head in amazement.

Pollution Reduction and Reinvestment, you say? And we’re talking about carbon dioxide? The stuff plants need to live, and that each and every one of us exhale with every breath? That CO2?
I just want to make sure we’re on the same page with the pollution thing.

The warming models are correct. The earth is warming.
Recent cooling just means the earth is taking a break. It will resume cooling in about ten years. Let’s make that part of the models. Now that that’s part of the models, the recent cooling vindicates the models. Yet the deniers say the cooling refutes global warming. Can you believe it? Anti-science Hallithuglican wingnut bible thumpers.
Where was I? Yes. The models are correct. We need to cut a couple of percent into the GDP, slash jobs by a couple million, and raise taxes a few thousand per family. Because of teh models. Nancy needs more money.
