Bertha Lewis, Chief Crook Organizer spews
The relentless attacks on ACORN’s members, its staff and the policies and positions we promote are unprecedented. An international entertainment conglomerate, disguising itself as a “news” agency (Fox), has expended millions, if not tens of millions of dollars, in their attempt to destroy the largest community organization of Black, Latino, poor and working families in the country. It is not coincidence that the most recent attacks have been launched just when health care reform is gaining traction. It is clear they’ve had these tapes for months. We are their Willy Horton for 2009.
Funny, how Bertha wants us to view ACORN as much as a “victim” as a convicted murderer and rapist.
[...] it is clear that the videos are doctored, edited, and in no way the result of the fabricated story being portrayed by conservative activist “filmmaker” O’Keefe and his partner in crime. And, in fact, a crime it was – our lawyers believe a felony – and we will be taking legal action against Fox and their co-conspirators.
Meanwhile, compare and contrast how the NYTimes covers the Census Bureau’s dropping of ACORN without ever mentioning the prostitution/sex slave tapes with the UK’s Telegraph actually reporting the facts (even if they can’t help themselves by labeling O’Keefe and Giles as “right-wing activists”).
(h/t NRO and BigGovernment)
James O’Keefe, independent filmmaker, to Bertha, “Bring it on.”
****************************
UPDATED: O’Keefe released yet a THIRD sting tape — at ACORN’s New York office. This is about as “isolated” as ACORN’s voter fraud scandals. (h/t SBP) Why is this organization still getting taxpayer money??
For snorts and giggles (thanks, Carin), please read BigGovernment’s “Counterpoint” column by Laurie Essig who manages to resemble nothing more than a teacup poodle baring her teeth while using every Leftist/Vagina Warrior shibboleth at her disposal (privileged, racism, straight white male who hates, etc.).

The third video is accompanied by an Alinsky quote that makes his tactics clear. He knew in advance that they would claim Baltimore was atypical. First the feint from the right, then the left hook when their block leaves them open. He is using their own methods to destroy them!

Man, are these people stupid. This is outstanding stuff and O’Keefe is playing it brilliantly.
Meanwhile, over at Fox, they’re salivating over the prospect of being sued by ACORN, specifically the prospect of doing discovery.
Comment by Abe Froman on 9/14 @ 5:47 am #
Interesting use of the “SMART WHITE PEOPLE ARE TRICKING THE POOR STUPID BLACK FOLKS” defense.
I suppose it’s easier than being outraged that such “poor stupid black folks” are being paid via the government to help people in need when they can’t help themselves. The latter is the same sentiment, only it would at least reveal that she cares something about the well-being of poor minorities instead of seeing them as mascots like she does. But like all good leftards her only loyalty is to the narrative.

James O’Keefe is a real-life Borat. He should send a finder’s fee to Sacha Baron Cohen. “There are many job opportunities in the US and of A. For men, construction worker, taxi driver or accountant. For woman, prostitute.” (Oh, sorry, that’s ACORN’s line… )
Comment by Bob Reed on 9/14 @ 7:30 am #
Bertha Lewis unwittingly makes an excellent analogy when she compare ACORN to Willie Horton. Because they are a criminal enterprise, which has already been causght in wrongdoing, that will to violate the law, the rights of people, and defraud the government of money and the right to fair and accurate elections if faciliatated by liberals; just like Willie Horton was allowed to continue to brutalize people while on “work” release from his life sentance in prison…
She wants to sound the oft employed dog-whistle of RAAAAACISM!, but unfortunately for her and ACORN, the proof is in these videos; not to mention that her allies on he left have worn out the race card in the eyes of most Americans with it’s gratuitious use attacking all who oppose Obama’s policy prescriptions…
And sue the filmaker? I’m afraid there is way too much precedent set for hidden camera sting video operations done by news organizations and whistleblowers. And all the howls of RAAAAAAACISM in the world won’t change that inconvenient truth…
This is RICO all the way…
Comment by JD on 9/14 @ 7:46 am #
How much longer can the MSM ignore this? I would so love to be the one that gets to make the campaign commercials about this – tie these videos in with Barcky’s speech in ‘07 where he told them they would be called on to help set his agenda.

What complete and utter idiots ACORN are. Hot Air reported this last week.
Where can I send a check to the O’Keefe and lovely Hannah legal defense fund. I definitely do not want harm to come to them for blowing the whistle, but I also want this story known by as many people as possible. Oh hells no BJTexs. That is next to impossible I think. Until he chooses to out himself.
But I have watched his act here carefully. I watched as his name echoed back and forth with folks here digging up his web presence when he was posting here as william. And then he disappeared. And onto the stage stepped theas, posting exactly the same drivel with exactly the same language, argument (or not, actually, creditable argument, but a facsimile thereof) and link citation habits. Cut and pastes, redundantly, obsessively … Bush hating obsessively … and a firm insistence that rightwingers are all fanatical christian anti-evolutionists of little or no intelligence. So, in my opinion, there isn’t much chance that theas isn’t william yelverton the guitar teacher. Whether truthteller turns out to be the same one is yet to be seen.

Not that the attempt to deflect should even be justified with a reply, but the “New Hampshire Gazette” is run by some hippie out of his bedroom closet. Despite the claim, it has no connection whatsoever with the 18th century paper of that name.
Hint: when you find a lie right on the masthead, it’s not a good idea to grant credence to anything else in that “paper”.
Oddly, these people who clutch their pearls at the mere allegation that Bush’s grandfather might’ve once SEEN a Nazi never seem to worry about Ted Kennedy’s father’s actual and thoroughly-documented, on-the-record, expressions of Nazi sympathy and admiration.
Funny, that.
On another issue, “ACORN” may have not been convicted of anything, just as “The Mafia” has never been convicted of anything. ACORN members certainly have been convicted of all sorts of things.
That’s why we have the RICO statute, I believe.

Comment by SBP on 9/14 @ 12:00 pm #
#136: exactly, sdferr
#137: it doesn’t matter what your blog software is, or even if you’re using plain ol’ web pages. You just have to make a file named .htaccess in the root folder for your blog and put the right commands in it.
Here’s lots of info.
Comment by SBP on 9/14 @ 12:03 pm #
Note that this will only work if your web server is Apache (which virtually all hosting services use nowadays). I don’t think it works on Microsoft IIS, although I believe there’s something similar for that.

We are playing right into the hands of the powerful elite who are running this country. (Of which Obambi is a puppet). They want racial and class wars, this satisfies their agenda of divide and conquer.
These Acorn women in these videos have probably been trained or told to make loans and not worry too much about specifics. They probably have quotas just like the quotas that Acorn put on their voter registrars. These are administrative directives coming from the top. Throwing the little people under the bus is a waste of time. I feel for these women who are probably just doing what they have been told, they are just trying to make a living in these hard times.
They put these poor people out there and then when it hits the fan they are thrown to the lions.
The brothers Dale and Wade Rathke are some of the real criminals, and I am sure there are many more higher ups (elites).
These people want a race war and they are doing everything they can to start one.
People we need to put the blame where it is due and stop attacking each other.
These women are out sisters and need our support. The people who we really need to see indicted are the administrators, going all the way to the top of the heap, and you should know who that is (BHO).
Sometimes I get the feeling that we, the American people, are just playing into the hands of the corporatocracy. They want white people to blame black people and black people to blame white people, this way we don’t see who the real criminals are.
This is how they destroy countries by having the people within countries destroy each other.
Please people lets hold the big guys accountable (the powerful elite and the elites who work for them) not our sisters and brothers.
We need to investigate Acorn and all of their subsidaries to the inner core and not blame the little people.

The only people promoting race-based agendas are the Democrats and some fringe lunatics. They are the ones fomenting hatred. If you believe in identity politics, you are part of the problem. If you think that equality of outcome is all that matters, you are part of the problem. Naturally, if you’re a whatever-concentration-of-melanin firster, you are part of the problem. If you make excuses for people’s bad behavior because the are poor, or “minorities,” or other things like that, you are part of the problem.
Everyone must be held accountable.
There is no race besides the human race. Anything else is a fabrication. We are all the same color (the difference is the intensity), we all have the same DNA makeup.
As far as a star chamber belief goes, meh. Corporations have a lot of leverage, true. So do some individuals. The way to fight them is to shine a light on them. Conspiracy theories don’t help.

Durbin + six others (who?): Nays.

ACORN destroyed by two kids with a video camera.
Someone was saying that this still needs to go through the House. I’m optimistic, given some of the people who voted for it in the Senate.

Burris too, so missing three (and the nine who didn’t vote).

Jim Geraghty on Twitter: With just three videos, @andrewbreitbart & BigGovernment.com turned ACORN into the political equivalent of the Ebola virus.
Comment by Blake on 9/14 @ 4:09 pm #
Hey Snowcone,
I think that big nothing known as ACORN just got some sort of mention in Congress. Something about cutting funding, I believe.
You were saying about ACORN, scandal and it’ll all be over in a week?
Although, I give you credit, you were right, ACORN will be over in a week. They’ll go bankrupt due to lack of funds.
Comment by SBP on 9/14 @ 4:12 pm #
Beck is reportedly saying that the next ACORN video will make the first three look tame.

Well hopefully this gets through the House and these scumbags get cut off the DC tit. Man that will throw a serious wrench into the dems election plans. Looks like the cost of owning a Presidency may get very expensive for Soros LOL!

SissyWillis RT @Zener39: Nays on ACORN vote were Burris, Casey, Durbin, Gillibrand, Leahy, Sanders, and Whitehouse. (via @davidhauptmann)
Comment by sdferr on 9/14 @ 4:34 pm #
Burris, Durbin, Sanders, Leahy, Whitehouse nays make sense. Gillibrand not so much. But stupid Bob Casey of Pa.? I can almost attribute that one to a plain mistake by stupid Bob Casey of Pa.

I was just watching Fox News and they announced that the NYC Bureau which investigates organized crimes is starting a investigation into ACORN in NYC.
Hey snowcone that puts a big smile on my face but it not utopia, It’s just my belief that fucking crime syndicates should be destroyed even when they are integral with the White House.

I am sure ACORN will like discovery. Such as ‘enjoy attorneys rooting through your files, all as laid out in the FRCP’. Enjoy the depositions of your employees.

You underestimate the stupidity of Snowcone.
As another commenter said about Snowcone: “Teh stupid is strong in this one.”

The ACORN community organizing was about the only thing on Dear Leader’s wafer thin resumé. It was made abundantly clear that ACORN and Dear Leader were joined at the hip, and that was a good thing. The papers and TV nodded, even though widespread voter fraud by ACORN was known, but ignored. The media, sorry, PR arm of the DNC have only one choice now; they must put clear blue water between ACORN and Dear Leader. Either by downplaying his role in the organization (he only worked as a lawyer, there were several layers between him and actual operations, etc.) or by ignoring the story completely. I suppose they could go for ignoring the story first, and if that doesn’t work, try the smokescreen. If mcgruder was here, he’d tell us.
Either way, expect Fox to press for a RICO investigation; it will be interesting to see who else jumps on the bandwagon. The NYT, WP, LAT, SFC etc. are far too invested in their stooge now to do any real investigative reporting of their own.

Considering that you’re commenting on a month-old post, I’m not sure your opinion on what is “news” is particularly valid.
