at .25 Contessa Brewer continues MSNBC’s news fakery
“Yes, there are 2nd amendment rights, for sure … but also there are questions whether this has a racial overtone. I mean, here you have a man of color in the presidency and white people showing up with guns.”
Here’s the video MSNBC will not show you, the video they cropped to make it appear that it was a white person who was toting the rifle.
It’s not like NBC’s “news” division is unfamiliar with faking the news.
Hot Air: Never will you see a starker example of MSNBC getting away with the sort of deception for which Fox News would be pilloried, especially in the context of race.
Moe Lane: I usually don’t say this sort of thing all that often, but this is one of those times: this is inexcusable. THIS. WAS. DELIBERATE. They had the clip. They knew that the guy was a peaceful protester making a point about the Second Amendment. They knew that – by definition – he was not a crazy white right-winger itching to take a shot at the President. But they altered his appearance so that it matched their argument that there is an active risk of crazy right-wingers itching to take a shot at the President.

Yeah, I’ve been watching PMSBC recently just to see how Chris Matthews has been playing these Town Halls, etc., and saw that particular odd shot of the weapon about 8 times, always wondering why a more full view of the weapon and the person carrying the weapon was not shown, but instead only that quite strange close-up of the weapon, which didn’t even give a good view of the weapon. Why do these morons think they’re so smooth? /asked and answered

I misunderestimated the pushback, the Bill of Rights be praised, but PMSNBC’s mendaci-baggery isn’t unexpected, sadly. Add this quackery to the Imus episode.
So. At what point do we start calling this what it looks about ready to become, which is the second American revolution?
Oh, you think that was hyperbole? No, it’s evident that Washington DC finally screwed the founding ideals right into the ground, broke the system – and I mean literally broke the system, right down to its technical insolvency – and we have no recourse but to reform Washington DC. It’s not even a matter of choice, because on the end of the line, securely hooked, you don’t have a choice.
Industry is nationalizing, Democrat-Socialists are issuing threats of fiat legislation, congressliars are jabbing at their own constituents (which means something those constituents do not about the security of congressliar power) the White House is posing for more social rule and routinely lying through its ears, the media is happily complicit, and the country is finally split like a ripe melon.
You know the cool thing? Redstaters make the stuff the ex fifty-two percenters consume, making this gun-carrying thing a bit of the old reverse class warfare. The power base no longer cares that it’s breaking the system grabbing everything it can, openly, and the middle class is fighting back. It’s fighting back because it has no alternative if it is to fend off the collectivist dark ages that will surely kill it.
Going forward from this point it doesn’t get any easier, Washington. Of that you may be restfully assured. We’re living a stark example of the end of a federal domestic empire erected over the last fifty years.
These next seismic political events should eliminate the State school, all State medicine, and nine-tenths of the domestic/entitlement law on the books. As it should be and once was.
As the man said, every single major federal program is broke! And the lights start to come on all over the land…

Meya is a dumb twat.
The funny thing to me is that if the media believes their own narratives then they keep missing all of the wonderful “man bites dog” moments that are ordinarily what journalists live for.
You’d think they’d find the presence of a black guy with a gun fascinating as news people. Where’s their curiosity?
You’d think the creator of the Obama joker poster being a Palestinian leftoid would be fascinating, on account of how you’d expect it to be the work of an angry Christian wingnut.
You’d think they’d find the parallels between Skippy Gates and Bob Dylan’s recent police encounter in a minority neighborhood endlessly fascinating and newsworthy.
Ditto for the lefties who’ve been caught engaging in Hitler hijinks at town halls.
Why, it’s almost as if they’re no longer news people at all.
Comment by Carin PHD on 8/20 @ 7:13 am #
In my optimistic moments, I view Obama as the culmination of 40 (or more, depending on how far you want to go back) of liberal/progressive ideology.
Sure, Progressivism has roots that go further back, but if you start in the 60’s and the tenor that the liberal movement took at that point … it was then that a whole generation of folks were radicalized. As youths, they could do little but demonstrate and raise havoc. But, as they’ve aged … they’ve risen in wealth, position, and power. Those folks are now at the pinnacle of their power. In a “now or never” moment, before the aged hippies retire from the universities and such, THIS is their moment.
They’ve influence, they’ve mis-educated … they’ve primed the pump.
If they fail now … I just don’t think there are SO MANY radicals coming up behind them. Sure, there are young liberals … but they simply won’t have the 60 hippies urging ‘em on. Reliving their radical youth through the ambition of the younger folks. The dynamic will have changed.
That’s me being optimistic.

I want somebody to sue the FEC to make them declare that MSNBC and the rest of the alphabet have abandoned the duties and responsibilities of the Press, and should be counted as political advocacy organizations with their budgets allocated as campaign contributions to the Democratic Party.
Yes, yes, I know, freedom of the Press and all that. It’d be a sad thing — but, then, I think the restrictions on free speech represented by the current election laws are an outrage, anyway; this is just the next step. At minimum, the Press is supposed to tell us the truth, not THE TRVTH, however they wish to spin or slant. When they descend to outright lying, they don’t qualify as “Press” any more.

Is it your contention that the MSNBC clip above DIDN’T happen? And we’ve already shown that “death panels”, while hyperbolic ARE a part of government-run health care… see Dr. Zeke Emanuel and his 2009 Lancet article advocating universal healthcare run by “Complete Life System”. Also there is a panel to evaluate COST-effectiveness in the Stimulus package and at least two more similiar panels in a couple of the healthcare “reform” bills in Congress. And if the “death panel” charge was bogus, why did the Senate decide to remove language even the Washington Post found “disturbing”?

How much are they paying you, Miles?
Comment by Ric Locke on 8/20 @ 8:29 am #
Pah.
On the one hand, we have SEIU members on time-and-a-half from their supposed “jobs” and “volunteers” being paid $15 an hour, brought together beforehand by their Mercedes Marxist “community organizers” to practice reciting the chants and accusations scripted by the Party leadership and nicely offset-printed in large type for easy reading, and handed professionally-designed and professionally-printed signs to wave, all saying the same thing; they are taken to the site in buses professionally painted with the sigils and slogans of the organizations — the only thing missing is cute little Japanese girls waving flags to make sure they know which bus to board. These, Miles will tell us, are spontaneous demonstrations of the Will of the Peepul.
On the other, we have individuals who are taking unpaid time off from work, who show up in their own vehicles or walk with hand-drawn signs expressing a wide variety of opinions around a central theme, and who express a variety of differing versions of the basic idea — and because they have exchanged emails and phone calls with one another beforehand, Miles and his fellows dismiss them as “Astroturf” and “Goebbels-style organizing”.
The problem is, for Miles: BOTH SIDES KNOW MILES AND HIS FELLOWS ARE LYING. The scripted “protestors” and their TEA Party opponents both know what’s going on, and the latter are much more likely to have actually read Dr. Goebbels’s prescriptions and know who’s following them and who is not. More insidiously, the Axelturfers also know that the whole thing’s a staged piece — and it simply adds to their cynicism about the entire mess, which diminishes the amount of principled support for that viewpoint. You’re behind the power curve, Miles.

Ric

THE POLL: 45 percent said it’s likely the government will decide when to stop care for the elderly; 50 percent said it’s not likely.
THE FACTS: Nothing being debated in Washington would give the government such authority. Critics have twisted a provision in a House bill that would direct Medicare to pay for counseling sessions about end-of-life care, living wills, hospices and the like if a patient wants such consultations with a doctor. They have said, incorrectly, that the elderly would be required to have these sessions.
House Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio said such counseling “may start us down a treacherous path toward government-encouraged euthanasia.”
The bill would prohibit coverage of counseling that presents suicide or assisted suicide as an option.
Republican Sen. Johnny Isakson of Georgia, who has been a proponent of coverage for end-of-life counseling under Medicare, said such sessions are a voluntary benefit, strictly between doctor and patient, and it was “nuts” to think death panels are looming or euthanasia is part of the equation.
But as fellow conservatives stepped up criticism of the provision, he backed away from his defense of it.

I was not intimidated during J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI hunt for reporters like me who criticized him. I railed against the Bush-Cheney war on the Bill of Rights without blinking. But now I am finally scared of a White House administration. President Obama’s desired health care reform intends that a federal board (similar to the British model) — as in the Center for Health Outcomes Research and Evaluation in a current Democratic bill — decides whether your quality of life, regardless of your political party, merits government-controlled funds to keep you alive. Watch for that life-decider in the final bill. It’s already in the stimulus bill signed into law.

___
THE POLL: 55 percent expect the overhaul will give coverage to illegal immigrants; 34 percent don’t.
THE FACTS: The proposals being negotiated do not provide coverage for illegal immigrants.
___
THE POLL: 54 percent said the overhaul will lead to a government takeover of health care; 39 percent disagree.
THE FACTS: Obama is not proposing a single-payer system in which the government covers everyone, like in Canada or some European countries. He says that direction is not right for the U.S. The proposals being negotiated do not go there.
At issue is a proposed “exchange” or “marketplace” in which a new government plan would be one option for people who aren’t covered at work or whose job coverage is too expensive. The exchange would offer some private plans as well as the public one, all of them required to offer certain basic benefits.
That’s a long way from a government takeover. But when Obama tells people they can just continue with the plans they have now if they are happy with them, that can’t be taken at face value, either. Tax provisions could end up making it cheaper for some employers to pay a fee to end their health coverage, nudging some patients into a public plan with different doctors and benefits. Over time, critics fear, the public plan could squeeze private insurers out of business because they would not be able to compete with the federal government.
It’s unclear now whether Obama is committed to the public option. He described it recently as “just one sliver” of health reform, suggesting it was expendable if lawmakers could agree on another way to expand affordable coverage. Now the White House is emphasizing his strong support for it.
___
THE POLL: 50 percent expect taxpayer dollars will be used to pay for abortions; 37 percent don’t.
THE FACTS: The House version of legislation would allow coverage for abortion in the public plan. But the procedure would be paid for with dollars from beneficiary premiums, not from federal funds. Likewise, private plans in the new insurance exchange could opt to cover abortion, but no federal subsidies would be used to pay for the procedure.
Opponents say the prohibition on federal money for the procedure is merely a bookkeeping trick and what matters is that Washington would allow abortion to be covered under government-subsidized insurance.
Obama has stated that the U.S. should continue its tradition of “not financing abortions as part of government-funded health care.” Current laws prohibiting public financing of abortion would stay on the books.
Yet abortion guidelines are not yet clear for the government-supervised insurance exchange. There is strong sentiment in Congress on both sides of the issue.

I don’t think you quite understand what a nazi is. And, for the record, the only nazi comparison I’ve seen from the right is the simple fact that National Socialism (as set up by the nazi party) is very similar to the socialist “utopia” theWon wants to set up.
But its ok for liberals to shout “death to Bush” and “republicans are nazis”. I’m confused. It looks like there’s a double standard somewhere but I must be projecting.

I hope you’ll forgive the 100,000,000 of your countrymen who don’t believe a word that comes out of Congress or the White House. After having been burned so badly in just six months, one can hardly blame them.

Be that as it may, step back a moment and ask yourself, “Wha, what is going on here?”

No, it’s the GOP that is afraid of brown people. They hate Mexicans, their teaparties are 99% white, they have the least number of black delegates in 40 years and the previous republican administration made it a hallmark of their policy to kill and torture brown people, but thats ok, because they were brown. That’s YOUR party not mine.
At the Democratic convention in Denver this year, 44 percent of the delegates were minorities, including all minorities, not just African Americans. And also a majority of those delegates were women.
At the RNC, the men outnumber the women 2-1 on the delegate floor. There were just 1.5% black delegates. Today, only 2% of all GOP voters are Latino. Only 1% of Republicans are Black. Barely 15% of GOP voters are under 35. The GOP is built on an aging, dying electoral coalition.
That is YOUR party, not mine.
Comment by No One You Know on 8/20 @ 9:50 am #
I know I shouldn’t, but regards comment #68 and the *ahem* facts, I’ll take a stab at “fact 2″ and “fact 3″
With regard to Point 2 and opponents saying this is some sort of accounting trick, it’s not even much of a trick considering the ummmmm, ahhhh, fungibility of money. So the defense of this measure, that the government is only going to finance abortions from premiums is absurd on its face.
Number 3 is even easier seeing as we have Obama on tape saying he advocates single payer. So he can give us the old “As I’ve said all along” qualifier, but this seems to be a matter of was he lying then or is he lying now?
If that’s the best that this commenter can muster in the way of a defense for current Democrat health care reform proposals, he’s the one living in a different universe.

A winning strategy, for a certain kind of win.
Shared images — of the self, “us,” the other(s), “them,” the world and the players on it, their roles and motivations — make stronger bonds than shared principles, and the more false and fragile those shared images are, the stronger the bond that protects them.
This is how shit goes way wrong.

You’ll never see Robinson on Hannity. Christina Brown is an Emmy award winning journalist, is an anchor for MSNBC (an African-American). You won’t see many Fox News people nominated for journalistic excellence. Also, no news organization can compete with CNN in world view. They have more international and foreign speaking correspondents than any news organization. But you can tune into Fox and Friends daily and hear the dumb white people like Steve “Doucebag” Doocy call Obama a Nazi. The choice is yours.

The pushback on the emotional front is threefold:
(1) All protesters are racist Klanny-Nazi loons (they have been running this for sometime).
(2) Bring on the ‘big insurance’ McCarthyite hearings.
(3) Pres. Obama speaks about how it is moral to pass this health plan and calls upon God.
Seems to me they really aren’t sure what to do. #1 hasn’t really been working; #2 is tried and true, but that is all C-SPAN material and is as boring as hell (and the inquistors make gargoyles look like beauty queens); #3 plays to Obama’s strengths at delivering the glittering generalities speech, but his credibility has been taking some hits recently and doing this may exasperate more people than it convinces.

william, you’ve got it wrong. Republicans do not hate brown people. Many many brown people hate republicans. Why ? Its very simple. Whether we like it or not, many “people of color” rely on government handouts for pretty much everything. If you’re a “brown person” and one party wants to give you a whole bunch of stuff, make it so you don’t have to work if you don’t want to, pass laws so its easier for you to get a job over a more qualified white person and basically cater to your needs, which you believe should be fullfilled by government. Why in the heck would you support a party that stands for self determination, hard work, fair play, the constitution and morality when you could support a party that just gives you stuff.
Its simple. Many brown toned persons chose the democratic party. The republicans do not keep brown people out – they simple don’t pander to them. And I don’t know if you noticed but the current head of the RNC is black, the last two secretaries of state were black, there’s a black man on the Supreme Court appointed by a republican, etc.
My best friend in law school was black. He worked his ass off to get where he was – he was smart enough and charismatic enough that his color was irrelevant- he succeeded because of the color of his character, not the color of his skin. Its a shame more “brown people” don’t buy into that concept.

Back on topic: before the spread of ubiquitous video recording and cheap video distribution, how long would these media assholes have gotten away with pretending that the fellow with the rifle was an Angry White Male? Long enough that the correction could be buried, is my guess.

I’ve been bitching for years about this. It’s the downside of MacLuhan’s “fifteen minutes of fame” for the “news” people”.
Anybody, anybody at all, who’s ever been involved with something that “makes the news” knows that the result ranges from errors made out of pig-ignorance to bald-faced lies building on stereotypes. What happens then is that the person thus profiled becomes suspicious — if they’re wrong or lying about that, which I know they are because I was there, what else are they wrong or lying about?
And, as more and more people get their fifteen minutes, the level of trust for the news media goes down. Right now it’s reached the point where they can’t make a living, because they aren’t useful to anybody: the ones they insult know they’re lying and don’t trust them on any other subject, and the ones they cater to can get their strokes from other places that are cheaper and easier to access.

Ric

For some reason, I don’t view those ‘journalism awards’ given to a bunch of press flacks for a bloody dictator as having any value.

There’s a reason things like that are called “circle jerks”. They’re awarding one another points for speed, stroke length, and volume produced. If anything, such an award is a strong clue that the individual thus honored is unlikely to reproduce beyond the clan.

Mr. Pink said: What any of williams comments have to do with MSNBC cropping a photo of a black man so you couldn’t tell what race he was so they could more effectively use it as a segway to smear people going to townhall meetings as white racists is beyond me.
Something vile and inexcusable was done by MSNBC, so the response is ‘Rush! Birthers! Fox News! Palin! Oh, sweet God, why won’t this work! Uh, uh, Bush! No, Palin, no Fox News, Fox News!’
Pretty standard behavior for someone trying to defend the indefensible, when the easier response would be to agree that it is indefensible and drop the subject. Instead, the little turnip-twaddler continues to make a giant thread so he can spin, spin – and continue to hear comments saying ‘But what about MSNBC’s actions cropping the video to imply that white people are coming to townhall meetings armed when the video is of a black man?’
Instead of letting it die, he continues to feed the storm – and by feeding it he proves just how important the story actually is.
Billy-boy isn’t being too successful, and he isn’t too bright. He should go get one of those VA pamphlets and think seriously about how he is such an emotional burden to his family, and think of doing right by them for a change.

William, I’m not going to bother reading your linked screeds. On the Internet, you can find something to support anything, and the fact that it’s an MSM source makes it less plausible in this neck of the ’sphere. And you don’t read my links, so why bother?
I’m still trying to understand what brings you here to PW. Your initial posts have always been jeering and sneering and condescension and accusations of ignorance and stuff.
Why? Why PW? Most of us here are college-educated and can argue you under the table. If you want to sneer at idiots, go to Democratic Underground or Free Republic or 4chan or a furry blog. PW is not the place to find empty heads, but then, you’ve never been on one of Jeff’s threads.
Also, what motivates you to sail over to an opposing blog just to call the denizens stupid? I’ve never done that! If I ever comment on an opposing blog, it’s to clarify a point, provide additional information, or refute a point. I’m always courteous, fact-oriented, and never assume that my readers are morons. I also don’t expect to be agreed with, but that’s OK.
Seriously, what up? Are you so insecure that you need to put us down to feel like you’re — what, superior? correct? That’s kind of sad. If you are insecure in your convictions, the best way to strengthen them is do research.
Also, maybe you’ve noticed that it’s very difficult to persuade people that they’re dead wrong, even when you post link after link. There’s so much information out there that everyone has their trusted sources and the rest are ignored and discounted. I have mine; you have yours, and we choose our sources depending on our experiences, not on how smart we are.
I’ve also noticed that you’re not very good at refuting specific arguments. You always pick up on some little detail or comment, not on the thrust of the argument, and you argue something off to the side, something you feel secure about. Most of the time, you don’t even comprehend our initial assumptions (except to know that they’re WRONG and IGNORANT).
Intelligent people can disagree 180° on subjects without it being a question of who’s the smart one and who is ignernt. I just worry that you’ve adopted your stances primarily because you want to be one of the smart ones, one of the educated class, the “cool kids,” not because you understand the assumptions and consequences of your positions but because you like what it says about you to the people whose opinions you value.
As it turns out, one of the main reasons we differ from you is because we have different priorities. We prefer liberty over security, principles over personalities, substance over style, long-term over short-term, individualism over the collective.
And priorities are a matter of taste, not intelligence. It’s a lot easier to share your space with those who think differently than you when you accept this.

Methinks william, if he’s the same william from TN loose canon is feeling anxious and lashing out.
Methinks william had a vision of fundamental cathartic change, one that would shake the very foundations of the legislative process and the role of government in our lives from defender to benevolent Uncle Charley.
Methinks william can’t believe that after the joyous release of the oppressive Bushhitler that this transformation hasn’t produced immediate results.
Methinks william is confused and anxious as to the continued incarceration of poor brown people in Gitmo and positively panic stricken that domestic wiretapping is still a go.
Methinks william is bewildered by the continued presence of US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan with with no near end in sight.
Methinks william is in despair that the Waxman/Markley Cap & Trade bill is pretty much dead this year even though it passed the house with a generous helping of porcine incentives for certain house members.
Methinks william has staked his entire peace of mind and transcendent feelings of political victory on the mother lode of Single Payer Government Health care and the very fact that, with majorities in both houses, his own party can’t pull it off and the country is abandoning the bill, unwilling to give up their rights and live with trillions of future deficits is inconceivable and maddening.
Methinks william sees the falling polls for Obama and the cratering support for the government option and simply can’t believe it.
In short, methinks william is very, very angry and, since he can’t possibly express that anger to the one transformational ONE who was to make all of his proto-progressive dreams come true, he has reverted to a place he said he wouldn’t go. Because, after all, it must be us “stingy, biased, miserly” conservatives, the long form cartoon reich winger rabble that plays in his head and he Must. Do. Something.
Methinks william only said that because he thought he would never have to say it again in a world run by Obama and the progressive wing of the DNC. The very stark fact that none of it is coming to pass and, in fact, it’s rapidly falling apart is simply too much.
Methinks william has experienced a mellow harsh so profound, so utterly at odds with his expectations that he must find a reason why, despite being cruely repudiated, that people like us won’t just, in Obama’s words, “…stop talking and get out of the way.”
Methinks that william is a fine little cocksure budding fascist whose progressive uber-command vision is fading like a sun soaked dark colored T-shirt and IT JUST ISN’T RIGHT! WE WON! WHY IS THIS SO HARD?
Methinks william is headed for a breakdown, quite possibly. Stay tuned.

Obama: everything gets ‘wee-weed’ up in D.C. in August
@ 3:04 pm by Michael O’Brien
President Obama is betting on a more successful September than August, when it comes to his bid for healthcare reform.
At an online forum on healthcare held Thursday at the Democratic National Committee (DNC), Obama drew on his own political experience to predict better fortunes next month.
“There’s something about August going into September where everyone in Washington gets all ‘wee-weed’ up,”
That is some class, The man is a Chicago thug. Admittedly a very expensive one but people are starting to see what a arrogant narcissist he really is. Americans belief in pseudoscience has given America the distinction of having the most scientifically illiterate populace in all of the industrialized world. You have media propaganda that has spawned the ‘birthers’ and the ‘deathers’. As a 20 year college professor, I find it amazing the lack of ability for American college students to even write the English language. Most often, the kids that are bilingual that are foreign born or have foreign born parents are the best writers and highest achieving students. I see this year after year in a general music humanities course I teach for non-majors – my only exposure to the University students outside of my field.
You gotta laugh though. Bill Maher nailed it. What America needs are not townhalls, they need study halls.

William, it would no doubt surprise you to learn that the majority view here would agree, if with some qualifications, with your #298. It does seem a little odd that you and the other folk who opine as you do are so concerned about, e.g., scientific illiteracy — which is, as you say, rampant — but are eager to take advantage of it when it advances your causes (AGW, “environmentalism”, “renewable power”). But there’s no doubt that there’s a severe lack of critical thinking about, and a lot of people substituting ideological purity for it. The only thing is, you really, really need to take a close look in your mirror before upbraiding us for it.

Comment by Ric Locke on 8/20 @ 4:44 pm #
Obama, Pelosi, and Reid have indeed been “trying to reach across the aisle” by their own definition — which is to say, “agree with me totally and we won’t demonize you any more than normally.” This from people who’ve been shrieking for the last eight and a half years that “dissent is the highest form of patriotism!” If you could disagree with Bush (and me) about the desirability of war in Iraq without being unAmerican, I can damn well disagree with you (and Obama) about how to finance health care without being a right-wing extremist.
You have, supposedly, the votes to run roughshod over the rest of us with impunity. In reality, of course, you don’t, for the same reason Pelosi & Co. didn’t stop the war in 2006: the new Democrats you’ve enlisted are from conservative Districts, and are being told by their constituents that if they vote for that crap they’d better be wary of penalty clauses on any long-term leases on DC housing. The only reason they’re making any attempt whatever at “bipartisonship” is so they can share the blame when the whole thing falls over, explodes, and bleeds radiation all around.
And that, in turn, is because you’ve elected an ignoramus. Not, mind you, a stupid person — Barack Obama is clearly well above average in native intelligence. But he has never had a single formative influence from the right of, say, Trotsky in his entire life, and all his political experience comes from participating in the Chicago machine. He has no idea, not the first one, of what the American middle-class and lower experience is like, has no idea how Americans who don’t come from the soi-disant elite think, and makes stupid misjudgements because of that. You don’t have enough boots on the ground to deal with dissent by kneecapping the dissenters’ nephews, william, and you aren’t likely to get it.
You most especially aren’t gonna get it by demonizing half or better of the population, and the sign and sigil of that is “people carrying guns to [Obama's] appearances”. Guns are tools, william, dead hunks of iron and plastic that do nothing without a hand attached to a mind. If there’s anybody around who wants to kill President Obama, that person is a nut case a la Squeaky Fromme (who just got let out of jail, BTW). And if people are starting to treat guns as fetishes — which some are, no doubt about it — you have only yourself to thank for trying to impute sentience to rocks. The word is “backlash”.

Ric

McCain to work for bipartisan solutions.
Puh-lease, Billy-boy – where has the Unicorn Rider ever shown the willingness to compromise that constitutes bipartisanship?

This is not intellectual dishonesty. This is a DISAGREEMENT regarding what the bill means. You say that portion of the bill means people will be able to have nice little conversations with … who the hell knows … about their end of life issues. WE say that this is an open door to who knows what. We are CONCERNED. We don’t TRUST you or Obama or the Democrats. Remember way back when they first started banning smoking here and there. And “we” said, soon it will be illegal to smoke in your own house, and you guys laughed and said “Oh no, this is for the children …. yada yada yada …” and now it’s just about illegal to smoke anywhere, and illegal if you live in an apartment building in certain regions.

Political terrorism in the form of lies coming from the right and now people carrying guns to his appearances. It’s over.

The Obama doesn’t need to reach out anymore.
He never did. LIe
He has the votes and a mandate to implement policy.

The right had a chance to be involved in a civil debate but no, all they could do is carry on about ’socialism,’ ‘Nazis’ and ‘death panels’ and the lie du jour …

they’ve essentially proved that they are unable to carry on a debate. As Barney Frank said, it would be “like talking to a dining room table.”

Then, you can tell us what they will do to contain costs. Then, you can show us how it will be more efficient. Then, you can show us how a pubic option will not drive out private carriers. Then, you can show is that if we are capable of all of the above, why is it not being done in the VA, Medicare, and the Indian reservation system. I will not patiently wait for your response. Frankly, I can predict your response. Wait a minute while I go pound my temple with a rubber mallet and shoot a nail gun in my forehead, while getting a lobotomy. It sounds like someone got hold of that joke flowchart that goes, ‘is it working?’ ‘yes/no’ and yes means ‘don’t fuck with it’ and thought ‘hey, I can make it work better’; which results in ‘did you break it?’ ‘yes/no’ and yes comes up with ‘will they find out?’ ‘yes/no’ and yes means ‘you poor dumb bastard’.
Congress is trying to fuck with it with the UR’s help, and have been found out. Now it is ‘you poor dumb bastard’, and they are spinning, spinning as fast as they can.
Or…

The problem Obama is faced with is that in America today, people are not capable of understanding complex issues and don’t have the attention span. Due to the lying liars, he has had to start town hall appearances with explanations of what is NOT in health care reform rather than what is IN it. I no longer will spread my opin- my, what do you call it? Ah, yes, my disinformation. I no longer will spread disinformation. I’m no longer a denier. I believe in Barack. Has Barack every lied before? Of course not. He’s never even done anything before.
Now I understand the 47 million uninsured. People with money who don’t buy insurance. People who could get Medicaid but don’t. Aliens, both legal and illegal. Guy’s who are unemployed for a couple of months and don’t bother to get Cobra. These are the uninsured just like the 5 million who can’t get insurance. So it’s 47 million, not 5. I see that now.
But I knew you were right. There’s rationing in Canada. There’s rationing in the UK. The chance that there will be rationing in the U.S. is therefore negligible. A coincidence like that just isn’t going to happen. You ever see someone roll snake eyes three times in a row? Isn’t going to happen. Plus, Medicare and Medicaid went broke. So, how in the hell are you going to hit craps three times in a row when you go whole hog and offer every American Medicare? Ain’t going to happen.

I just didn’t want to let this line pass by unremarked upon. I think its a bad idea to bring guns to political meetings for a number of different reasons, but it is hardly terrorism. More importantly, the idea that speech, whether it be lies or otherwise, can be classified as terrorism takes us to a level of rhetoric that starts to worry me a little.

Methinks william doesn’t understand the difference between “ignorance,” “intellectual dishonesty,” misinformation” and examination of the facts and honest disagreements of opinion.
Methinks william should understand that his bloviating reflects someone convinced of his own political and intellectual aristocratic superiority, an elite class not dependent upon birth or resources but self elevated by their own sneering support of a constructed “moral” imperative that lands them on a rhetorical throne, in their own minds.
In short, william is an educational fascist, dedicated to the proposition that all progressives are innately superior in their ethics and in their intellectual bona fides. It’s a position completely powered by ideological purity. Thus any and all who question Teh Narrative™ are inferior and must be crushed, marginalized and, ultimately, dominated.
For their own good, as well as for the good of all.
This goes beyond the willful ignoring of his own acceptance of pseudo science that pushes forward a “moral” political goal that inevitably ties to wealth redistribution and reflects his disgust of capitalism and profit. It promotes a fervent desire to be dictatorial, master of the “unwashed masses” due to william’s self actualized vision of his own superiority. Nothing anyone says here makes any difference. We all must be mocked and marginalized and shown to be inferior.
Magaret Sanger, writ large. Intellectual eugenics.
Nothing reflects this any more clearly that william’s continued refusal to explain the CBO estimates for the deficit busting cost of the health reform crap pile. william cares not as the moral imperative of health care for all is a transcendant truth, regardless of circumstances. He’ll continue to pick and choose Google splatter in an attempt to demean rather than inform. Lies and misinformation in the service of the moral imperative are righteous, don’cha know.
Methinks william is, at his core, a faux intellectual tyrant more than eager to practice class tyranny to achieve his goals. This is why william shouldn’t run anything that is American and his willful embrace of superiority of vision makes his views, dare I say it, un-American.
Jefferson and Adams weep.
Comment by Darleen on 8/21 @ 7:55 am #
Darleen is a confirmed ‘deather’ … probably a ‘birther’ too. This whole campaign of misinformation will have it’s consequences
Good lord, the contradictions that Leftcultists like william have to hold produces some of the weirdest stuff.
I’ve never said anything about Obama’s birth because it is a non-starter. EVEN IF Obama were to come out tomorrow and say “Nyah nyah nyah, I WAS born in Kenya” his next sentence would be “what are you going to do about it?” Does any rational person believe Congress would remove Obama over that? No.
Personally, I believe he was born in Hawaii — I don’t believe in 40+ year conspiracies involving teen-age moms being spirited between continents in order to bring forth The O’messiah.
And the “birther” meme was started by Democrats in the Clinton camp.
As far as “deather”, william has not given any substantion argument against the facts and evidence I’ve posted on how ObamaCare would end up with rationed care ala Canada and Britain – especially in context with Obama’s on record statements he wants this to end up and single-payer and he has as his health czar Dr. Zeke Emanuel who also advocates for single-payer run under the “Complete Life System”
That doesn’t make me a “deather”, it makes me a realist.

Actually, Darleen, it would make a large difference. At that point, because he would have been President illegally, he wouldn’t be the CinC, and not only would the military not have to follow his illegal orders, but a case could be made it would be their duty to remove him. There are other consequences (like EVERY law he’s signed being null and void — bye-bye Porkulous!!!), but that’s the most important one.
Of course, the same thing would happen if he confessed what we all know is true, that he got elected because of 35 million in illegal unverified contributions through his website.
