Obama calls out the thugs [Darleen Click]

Obama isn’t even trying to hide his Chicago Ways. First, he goes to the “BLAME BOOOOOOSH” well yet again, even though the economy right now is entirely the fault and responsibility of Democrats who have held the purse strings for over two years and Obama’s epic failure of a “stimulus”. Obama, who said the stimulus would have to be passed to keep the unemployment rate below 9%. Heh. Then he continues to lie about his critics saying “do nothing!”. And he continues to peddle the “tax cut for 95% of the people”. Then at 4:16

“I expect to be held responsible for these issues because I’m the President … BUT … I don’t want the folks that created the mess to do all the talking, I want them to get out of the way.

Obama’s call has been heard. Leftist union thugs are beating up to shut down dissenters from The One’s policies ala Obama’s hero Hugo Chavez.

Six people were arrested outside the Russ Carnahan town hall event on Thursday after thugs attacked tea party protesters. [...]

One black conservative was seriously hurt outside the event.
The Post-Dispatch reported:

St. Louis County police say six people were arrested. Two of those were arrested on suspicion of assault, one of resisting arrest and three on suspicion of committing peace disturbances. Carnahan was gone when the ruckus started.

Kenneth Gladney, a 38-year-old conservative activist from St. Louis, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with “Don’t tread on me” printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room of the St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was waiting to be treated for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face that he suffered in the attack. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers, also a black man, used a racial slur against him before the attack started.

“It just seems there’s no freedom of speech without being attacked,” he said.

Freedom of speech belongs only to Obamacrats. Anyone else who even casually calls or writes a few friends and acquaintances to show up at any Congresscritters event with dangerous questions is nothing but manufactured astroturf.

It is on, friends. Leftists have dropped the veil of even pretending to be “bipartisan”.

No no, can’t be racists JD. No authentic black person (or woman) can be conservative.

The NRA should counter these union thugs with well-armed (fully-licensed, of course) anti-union-thuggers to protect our free speech rights. Only a right of self-defense can protect you against 320-pound Obama-sponsored SEIU union thugs pushing you out of public meetings.

You do NOT have to put up with union THUGS trying to shut down free speech right to protest your elected representatives. It is completely legal for licensed carriers to attend these events and to protect themselves from the physical assaults designed to deny them of their rights.

Indeed. The natives are getting mighty restless. More SEIU thuggery in Tampa. And check out CBS’s take on it: Teabaggers Shout Down Tampa Bay Town Hall

I wonder how they managed that when the “teabaggers” weren’t admitted to the meeting.

Isn’t it at least a little odd that Obama and his community organizers have been caught flatfooted the last week or so and find themselves only now playing a catch-up, backfilling game, since after all these groups, Acorn, Code Pink, Unions and the like have perfected the technique of disruption of corporate board meetings, congressional hearings, town council meetings, county board of supervisor meetings themselves long years ago?

What was it that made them fail to anticipate a sustained outpouring of dissident sentiment from ordinary citizens? What caused them to discount a strong pushback on policies they surely understood were rife with disagreement?

Too many easy victories of late? Or was it a simple lack of experience of having the shoe on the other foot for a change, of being in charge, of being the Man, the establishment, rather than fighting the Man? However it came about it is, in a minor way, funny to watch.

Hubris. It is so easy to start believing your own hype. You have to always pretend it is true to maintain your image for the troops. Very easy to slip into believing it since it flatters your ego.

I noticed AB Stoddard managed to work “the mob” into her brief disquisition on FNC’s Special Report roundtable a couple of nights back JD, twice, in fact. The first time she used it her voice faltered ever so slightly as she spoke the words. She was downright tentative about it. (Of course, she should have been, since she was sitting next to Charles Krauthammer and could rightly expect he’d call her out on it before the next sentence passed her lips – but surprise!, he didn’t) Her second deployment of it was much better, much stronger, more confident and sure. Fuckers.

This is all just so much theater. Look, the Dems (and I’m sure, some Republicans) are going to pass this travesty, They just need to get their alibi in order. When confronted with their vote at election time, they will inform their respective constituents that they had it on good authority that this was all manufactured by the insurance companies, and they didn’t realize that this was genuine and please vote for me since this is already in place, you need someone like mew in Washington to make sure that the shiny brand new program is run cleanly and efficiently. You wouldn’t want some radical like Barney Frank running this would you? No, better to have me (the blue dog conservative Dem, or moderate Republican) there as the watchdog. The union thugs are fulfilling their promise to act as Obama’s brownshirts should anyone demonstrating on behalf of freedom, or counter to any Obama policy, manage to show up at one of their representatives town hall meeting…

Obama’s new kind of politics sure looks a lot another 20th century hotbed of “change”, and the union thugs behave a lot like Ernst Rohm’s SA!

And Pelosi has the gall to invoke Nazism in rerfernce to average folks voicing their displeasure with Obamacare; when it’s the Democrat’s who are using the bully boy tactics…

This will backfire on O!&Thugs-R-Us, mark my words. And all I can say is that any town hall meeting I go, the union lackeys better have aluminum bats; because two-by-fours might break over my hard assed knuckle dragging head…

  31. Comment by Cranky-d & Associates on 8/7 @ 9:42 am #

The evil they claim we possess is the evil they find in themselves. They accuse others of being nazis because they know deep down they are the fascists. They just cannot admit that to themselves because they think they are doing what’s best for the proles. Or they can admit it to themselves, but the ends justify the means, so it’s all good.

  32. Comment by Obstreperous Infidel on 8/7 @ 9:52 am #

The evidence clearly shows this, too, cranky. For those 8 years all I heard was how BUUUUUUUUSH and his gang of Eichmanns, tried to stifle dissent. They questioned their opponent’s patriotism. But, these last 7 mos have been amazing in how they have absolutely highlighted the projection, the hypocrisy, the craziness of the statist left. They literally have pulled off everything they claimed that Bush did. These people have no shame, honor or integrity. How do you deal with that?

  33. Comment by Mikey NTH on 8/7 @ 9:58 am #

#5 sdferr – I would say it is inexperience at actually being the establishment. Never in their wildest dreams did they think that someone else would use protest tactics against them, when protest tactics are what is used against the establishment, not by the establishment.

Although I do find it peculiar that the union members are now playing the role of Harry Bennett’s goons.

  34. Comment by McGehee on 8/7 @ 9:58 am #

When did I sign up to be a scapegoat?

When you failed to join the Most High and Holy Church of His Sacred Hopenchangeyness, Teh O!ne, Teh O!nly, Teh Obamessiah!!!™

(I checked the trademark terms; the three exclamation points at the end are in fact required, with no ones or eleventys. Effin fascists.)

  35. Comment by cranky-d on 8/7 @ 10:01 am #

The only way to deal with them is to not let them set the agenda. The most powerful way they set the agenda is by controlling the language. When they make unfounded accusations, you do not respond to the lie built on their premises, you move right to the premises and expose them. Most of the time, all that will happen is that they will start acting like babies and go right to the name-calling, because you will destroy the very foundations of who they are. Every now and then, though, you might get through, not to the person doing the talking, but to others who are listening to the discussion.

We are at a disadvantage. The weight of the legacy media is against us. That means we have to spend much more energy to get our ideas through.

  37. Comment by sdferr on 8/7 @ 10:09 am #

Seems to me that police forces across the country are in for an awful summer of hard choices. On the one hand they’ve got to enforce the laws as written in an attempt to keep the peace. On the other hand they will find themselves arriving on difficult scenes of high political indignation (on both sides of course) and be forced to sort out violent initiators from recipients, not all of which will be captured on video recordings. And then too, we understand they are in many cases service union members who, try as they might for fair dealing with the public they encounter, will nevertheless be cast under some lingering residual suspicion of plain old political dealing. Sucks, but there it is.

  38. Comment by Obstreperous Infidel on 8/7 @ 10:18 am #

    @ 14 and other not-quite-cynics:

Yes, it’s theater, of a sort, and they can pass whatever they want (with less electoral consequence than you suppose, if any), but there’s a Cynic’s Razor you’re not applying. Compact formulation: Means are ends.

If, for whatever passing cause, lies are told, citizens are demonized, goons are dispatched and heads are smashed, that cause was invented or hijacked by people who wanted to lie, demonize, send goons and smash heads, and needed an excuse.

This is what they want. For starters.

Seems to me that police forces across the country are in for an awful summer of hard choices.

If there’s two cops and one you, they’ll choose to beat your ass.

Lefty cop-hate is posed-out bullshit, but if you do find yourself taking to the streets and standing up to the Man and shit, for real, you’ll find yourself saying the things they say, and meaning them — and getting your asses beat, sometimes to death.

Ready? I think that’s where the tea party ends. With ass one.

#60: That was a mistake. It opens the assaulter to a civil suit; and it opens those who ordered it to the same suit. The same type of lawsuits that broke the Klan. The type of lawsuits that the civil rights legislation put in place. I am not sure if the Holder Justice Dept. would pursue a RICO, but that also is opened.

I think that action comes from old men never up-dating their views of the world. For John Sweeney, the world would be as it was when he was young, the 1930’s through the 1950’s. And breaking out the tire-irons was what negotiation was all about. But Harry Bennett and his goons are dead and gone. And it isn’t 1959 anymore, let alone 1937.

Yah, and, as we all know the Left would never, ever make up stuff. ‘Cause their full of super-honesty and the purest of intentions just like our friendly mentally ill commentors here.

As your nominee, I pledge to restore to the federal government the capacity to do the people’s work without dominating their lives. I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely; its ability to act tempered by prudence and its willingness to do good balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

The first Republican president once said, “While the people retain their virtue and their vigilance, no administration by any extreme of wickedness or folly can seriously injure the government in the short space of four years.”

If Mr. Lincoln could see what’s happened in these last three-and-a-half years, he might hedge a little on that statement. But, with the virtues that our legacy as a free people and with the vigilance that sustains liberty, we still have time to use our renewed compact to overcome the injuries that have been done to America these past three-and-a-half years.

First, we must overcome something the present administration has cooked up: a new and altogether indigestible economic stew, one part inflation, one part high unemployment, one part recession, one part runaway taxes, one party deficit spending and seasoned by an energy crisis. It’s an economic stew that has turned the national stomach.

Ours are not problems of abstract economic theory. Those are problems of flesh and blood; problems that cause pain and destroy the moral fiber of real people who should not suffer the further indignity of being told by the government that it is all somehow their fault. We do not have inflation because — as Mr. Carter says — we have lived too well.

The head of a government which has utterly refused to live within its means and which has, in the last few days, told us that this year’s deficit will be $60 billion, dares to point the finger of blame at business and labor, both of which have been engaged in a losing struggle just trying to stay even.

High taxes, we are told, are somehow good for us, as if, when government spends our money it isn’t inflationary, but when we spend it, it is.

Those who preside over the worst energy shortage in our history tell us to use less, so that we will run out of oil, gasoline, and natural gas a little more slowly. Conservation is desirable, of course, for we must not waste energy. But conservation is not the sole answer to our energy needs.

America must get to work producing more energy. The Republican program for solving economic problems is based on growth and productivity.

    R. Reagan 1980

Our problems are both acute and chronic, yet all we hear from those in positions of leadership are the same tired proposals for more government tinkering, more meddling and more control — all of which led us to this state in the first place.

Can anyone look at the record of this administration and say, “Well done?” Can anyone compare the state of our economy when the Carter Administration took office with where we are today and say, “Keep up the good work?” Can anyone look at our reduced standing in the world today and say, “Let’s have four more years of this?”

I believe the American people are going to answer these questions the first week of November and their answer will be, “No–we’ve had enough.” And, then it will be up to us — beginning next January 20th — to offer an administration and congressional leadership of competence and more than a little courage.

We must have the clarity of vision to see the difference between what is essential and what is merely desirable, and then the courage to bring our government back under control and make it acceptable to the people.

It is essential that we maintain both the forward momentum of economic growth and the strength of the safety net beneath those in society who need help. We also believe it is essential that the integrity of all aspects of Social Security are preserved.

Beyond these essentials, I believe it is clear our federal government is overgrown and overweight. Indeed, it is time for our government to go on a diet. Therefore, my first act as chief executive will be to impose an immediate and thorough freeze on federal hiring. Then, we are going to enlist the very best minds from business, labor and whatever quarter to conduct a detailed review of every department, bureau and agency that lives by federal appropriations. We are also going to enlist the help and ideas of many dedicated and hard working government employees at all levels who want a more efficient government as much as the rest of us do. I know that many are demoralized by the confusion and waste they confront in their work as a result of failed and failing policies.

Our instructions to the groups we enlist will be simple and direct. We will remind them that government programs exist at the sufferance of the American taxpayer and are paid for with money earned by working men and women. Any program that represents a waste of their money — a theft from their pocketbooks–must have that waste eliminated or the program must go — by executive order where possible; by congressional action where necessary. Everything that can be run more effectively by state and local government we shall turn over to state and local government, along with the funding sources to pay for it. We are going to put an end to the money merry-go-round where our money becomes Washington’s money, to be spent by the states and cities exactly the way the federal bureaucrats tell them to.

I will not accept the excuse that the federal government has grown so big and powerful that it is beyond the control of any president, any administration or Congress. We are going to put an end to the notion that the American taxpayer exists to fund the federal government. The federal government exists to serve the American people.

Jeebus H. Christ, RD, you’re about as fucking dumb as they come. You really are in the wrong place. Anyhow, a tweet and a telephone threat? That’s not anywhere near the same vicinity as Union pussies thuggin’ up old suburbanites. And I said I believe that there probably have been some dipshits in the anti-obama healthcare reform camp. The odds alone say that is a certainty. Those people need to be called out. However, starting with your god, el presidente, on down, the implications and out right claims, are that everybody (the vast majority) of the anti-Obama healthcare crowds have been disruptive and out of line. That’s bullshit. Even a partisan apparatchik with half a fucking brain such as yourself knows that is bullshit. Your side owns the media. Your side had owned demonstrations up until now. Your side has no idea how to deal with it, so it falls back on its programming and whines as it always does.

Gordo. Seek help ya fruit loop. You are a damaged human being and having a semi-public meltdown has got to be embarrassing to your mum and dad. Think of them.

The Laffer curve is as certain as the Intermediate Value Theorem. There exist disagreements as to its exact shape.

And the stock market is up because Obama is stumbling. The market was at its weakest when Obama was at his strongest. As his Cap and Trade plan and healthcare plan become increasingly unlikely, that can only be good for America and its capital markets.

  300. Comment by N. O'Brain on 8/7 @ 8:14 pm #

    That explains the racism.

  301. Comment by Obstreperous Infidel on 8/7 @ 8:16 pm #

Good points, Bill in regards to the stock market. Funny thing, too. When it kept on going up and up and up under Bush, it wasn’t indicative of a good economy. But now that it’s inched up, very precariously, it is? Also, many economists are still forecasting a big sell off in the fall mos. Who knows, but this slight uptick only started occurring when the O!bomentum started faltering.

My fellow citizens, I utterly reject that view. The American people, the most generous on earth, who created the highest standard of living, are not going to accept the notion that we can only make a better world for others by moving backwards ourselves. Those who believe we can have no business leading the nation.

I will not stand by and watch this great country destroy itself under mediocre leadership that drifts from one crisis to the next, eroding our national will and purpose. We have come together here because the American people deserve better from those to whom they entrust our nation’s highest offices, and we stand united in our resolve to do something about it.

We need rebirth of the American tradition of leadership at every level of government and in private life as well. The United States of America is unique in world history because it has a genius for leaders — many leaders — on many levels. But, back in 1976, Mr. Carter said, “Trust me.” And a lot of people did. Now, many of those people are out of work. Many have seen their savings eaten away by inflation. Many others on fixed incomes, especially the elderly, have watched helplessly as the cruel tax of inflation wasted away their purchasing power. And, today, a great many who trusted Mr. Carter wonder if we can survive the Carter policies of national defense.

“Trust me” government asks that we concentrate our hopes and dreams on one man; that we trust him to do what’s best for us. My view of government places trust not in one person or one party, but in those values that transcend persons and parties. The trust is where it belongs–in the people. The responsibility to live up to that trust is where it belongs, in their elected leaders. That kind of relationship, between the people and their elected leaders, is a special kind of compact.

Three hundred and sixty years ago, in 1620, a group of families dared to cross a mighty ocean to build a future for themselves in a new world. When they arrived at Plymouth, Massachusetts, they formed what they called a “compact”; an agreement among themselves to build a community and abide by its laws.

The single act–the voluntary binding together of free people to live under the law–set the pattern for what was to come.

A century and a half later, the descendants of those people pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to found this nation. Some forfeited their fortunes and their lives; none sacrificed honor.

For the current issue’s of the world, I to, would give it serious consideration NOT to bring another victim into this world as we know it today, by the way… resembles the Book of Revelations.

Immorality…has contributed a lot to our oft dysfunctional society. A song that was sung by Wynonna Judd explains much of the errors of our way . “Grandpa tell me about the good old days… when Daddy’s never went away“, and another lyric that mentions “when family’s would bow their heads and pray,” always reminds me that there is NO WINNERS IN DIVORSE.

How sad, the previous generations have made such a Disastrous Outcome for our Youth today. The Current Generation is Rebellious and Broken Hearted in so many ways. The lack of guidance due in part to Divorce and the Extinction of Stay at Home Moms are both contributing factors.

Greedy Corporations, should also assume responsibility for the way things have turned out for all, making it nearly impossible to afford to raise a family in today’s economy on a single parent income.

My suggestion is…Live simply just so others can simply live and to abide by the book of instructions entitled THE HOLY BIBLE. Amen and God Bless the Children…

But you can’t hold a whole fraternity responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn’t we blame the whole fraternity system? And if the whole fraternity system is guilty, then isn’t this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you, Greg – isn’t this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we’re not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!

The problem is he does away with the bad part of employer based care — the tax incentive for it — without fixing what is good about employer based care: the pooling of buying power for those buying care. Also this is easy to demagogue: all those millions with employer based care, you can tell that they are not going to be able to keep the health care they have now.

I am nowhere near Texas right now. Heat and I don’t get along too well. My kid brother and I are going to try to relive our youth with a bit of fly fishing in the great white north. I taught him to fly fish in 1949. Hook a steelhead on a flyrod and you’ll never forget it. We won’t be fishing for steelhead, but I’m sure we’ll have fun.

Best to you and yours as well.

It seems that Gordon is a major loser personally, and his outfit gets 1/3 of their funds from government grants! Quelle suprise!

Central to our effectiveness was the Gordon’s genius in articulating the growing gap between the rich and the poor. This societal development violated the most basic spiritual and human principles that both of us were attempting to practice in our own faith community. He had a sense of the consequences for our world if we didn’t start paying attention and taking action. Fortunately I happened to be within earshot, and through his quiet insistence we started down the path that began with St. Martin’s Center Soup Kitchen- slammed shut by a lawsuit filed by outraged neighbors- and reborn as The Primavera Foundation.

So it seems Mr. Packard is a pillar of his faith community! I wonder which community that is that condones the kind of vitriol he directed at Jeff and his family here…

Maybe they too should get on the cc list of the comments that good man Gordon Packard made on this thread tonight.

    And so it begins;
Condemning these citizens as mobs, the Obama administration apparently seek to prepare the public for the cracking of heads we have seen by administration supporters at townhall events this week. While Obama supporters dispatched union thugs to act like brownshirts of yore, Obama’s minions at the DNC released a statement yesterday announcing its “REACTION [sic] to the [purported] use of Nazi symbolism from the right wing.” Among the alleged malefactors accused by the DNC of fomenting Nazism was House Minority Whip Eric Cantor, the House’s only Jewish Republican.

And that no matter what internal jiggery-pokery the proxy system does with the traffic, it’s still going to be correlated with the time stamps of your posts and the server logs here?

And that it would be somewhat difficult to explain to a jury why your traffic to an “anonymizing” site just happened to match up perfectly with the actionable posts here? Dozens of times?

I’d get busy on that “explanation” if I were you. Good luck with that.

Hey it happens. Some even think comparing obama to the nazis is ‘fomenting nazism.’ You cant help that much stupid.

“look up Barbara Wagner of Oregon, then say “death panel level of stupid””

Lets take the example of Terri Schiavo. If she had a living will, we would know much better what she wanted — and she may have been kept alive — assuming this is what she put in her will. Don’t ask me who pays the bills, but we at least would have instructions from her that didn’t depend on her husband’s testimony. Everyone would be happy there, no? Maybe this is why two republicans proposed that such consultations, where patient’s wishes are determined with their doctor (AKA THE DEATH PANEL) be covered. This is what palin was talking about when she talked of DEATH PANELS. You know, because she wants people to QUIT MAKING STUFF UP.

I suppose the alternative is that they not be covered. If this is holding up other, better reform, like mandating that pre-existing conditions such as Downs syndrome be covered, then I would ask those two republicans if it is ok that we drop this provision. Sometimes losing a bit to the stupid is worth the good we can still get. You know, for the special needs kids.

As to single payer, I think its better if we have a system where the affluent, or those with more buying power, can spend their affluence to get more and better services than the less affluent. Anything less would be abhorrent. of course, we should still cover the downs syndrome babies. We can’t just leave them to have to get employer based insurance.

  451. Comment by geoffb on 8/8 @ 3:00 pm #

Right now the US is where 90% of new drugs are developed. Why? because we don’t have a government healthcare system that limits the price that can be charged for a new drug. The development costs are the biggest part of the drug prices. These costs have to be paid back somehow, and not just the ones for the drug that succeeds but for all the ones that fail too.

We, the people of the USA, pay those costs for the entire world’s new drugs. All those government healthcare systems around the world are parasitical on the innovation done and paid for here. If we go down that same government controlled route that innovation stops.

The level of healthcare, medical care, that is there the day before Obama care starts will be the best it will ever be. All downhill from then on out.

    Take the pain pill Bro.

Marketing also includes samples, you know those ones doctors hand out free to people who can’t afford drugs. It makes up between 25% and 50% of the marketing costs depending on who is doing the figuring.

If the marketing isn’t necessary then the firm that stops doing it will have a greater profit than the others. They do it because it is necessary to continue in business. The ‘feets of this world as a good thing.

  455. Comment by geoffb on 8/8 @ 3:47 pm #

The figures have become political in nature.

Another set used by the GAO is “US$29.6 billion on R&D in 2004 in the US as compared to US$27.7 billion for all promotional activities. With US$15.9 billion of the 27.7 billion for samples and US$7.3 billion for the sales force.

The estimates vary all over depending on the political stance of those doing them. It is still crystal clear accounting compared to the average Hollywood movie’s financials.

  465. Comment by Darleen on 8/8 @ 5:51 pm #

    Ah, “Susan” returns

Like the vast majority of Americans, I would bet we all have medical insurance.

I also have auto and homeowner’s insurance. When will Barney Frank demand a single payer system for those, too?

  466. Comment by Darleen on 8/8 @ 5:53 pm #

    JD

    Yes, same “Susan” IP 173.87.181.154

  467. Comment by JD on 8/8 @ 5:57 pm #

The trolls have proven both JD’s First Rule of Trolls and the 2nd Restatement of JD’s First Rule of Trolls beyond a shadow of a doubt.

  468. Comment by Susan on 8/8 @ 5:59 pm #

Well, I guess you are the chosen ones.

  469. Comment by B Moe on 8/8 @ 6:00 pm #

No Susan, we are the responsible ones.

  470. Comment by Susan on 8/8 @ 6:04 pm #

How responsible is it of employers to manipulate the system by laying off dedicated hard working long term employees then to rehire them back without their benefits just weeks later. Tell me B. MOE does that make one irresponsible because they had their benefits taken away?

  471. Comment by happyfeet on 8/8 @ 6:06 pm #

I have medical insurance and them hosers didn’t pay for my quitting of the smoking so I am highly dissatisfied and highly out $137 for the office visit plus maybe $400 for the drugs and god knows how much for cupcakes and chockit but I guess the troof is I’m still ahead on the deal cause the dirty socialists made cigarettes so expensive that you hit your breakeven on a dealio like this really really fast.

On the way home I pass a bus station ad what says how if you have no insurance the state of California will pay you for the quitting smoking drugs and stuff. I couldn’t read all the details cause of it was in Spanish but there’s a number there you can call.

  472. Comment by happyfeet on 8/8 @ 6:07 pm #

    Cigna if you were wondering.

  473. Comment by sdferr on 8/8 @ 6:08 pm #

    … manipulate the system …

Oh that one’s a keeper that one is.

  474. Comment by B Moe on 8/8 @ 6:08 pm #

It makes you irresponsible if you don’t find another way to get health insurance.

It makes you irresponsible if you expect someone else to be responsible for providing your health care. That is the definition of irresponsible, in fact. See.

  475. Comment by Susan on 8/8 @ 6:09 pm #

Ouch, not from California so that certainly doesn’t apply.

  476. Comment by Susan on 8/8 @ 6:10 pm #

    Oh, thanks for the clarification.

  477. Comment by Darleen on 8/8 @ 6:14 pm #

    Susan

What gives you the right to demand your neighbors to pay for your medical insurance?

  478. Comment by Darleen on 8/8 @ 6:17 pm #

    BTW Susan

All Republican/Conservative/libertarian proposals to reform healthcare usually start at severing the employer/government connection to health insurance (research of how employers got into offering health insurance in the first place)

  479. Comment by sdferr on 8/8 @ 6:17 pm #

Then there was this other one about system that I liked too:

“The man of system, on the contrary, is apt to be very wise in his own conceit; and is often so enamoured with the supposed beauty of his own ideal plan of government, that he cannot suffer the smallest deviation from any part of it. He goes on to establish it completely and in all its parts, without any regard either to the great interests, or to the strong prejudices which may oppose it. He seems to imagine that he can arrange the different members of a great society with as much ease as the hand arranges the different pieces upon a chessboard. He does not consider that the pieces upon the chess-board have no other principle of motion besides that which the hand impresses upon them; but that, in the great chess-board of human society, every single piece has a
principle of motion of its own, altogether different from that which the legislature might chuse to impress upon it. If those two principles coincide and act in the same direction, the game of human society will go on easily and harmoniously, and is very likely to be happy and successful. If they are opposite or different, the game will go on miserably, and the society must be at all times in the highest degree of disorder.”

    Adam Smith

    Much better even.

No Gordo. Your son is going to grow up as the monkey for an organ grinder.

    Nice subtle racism.

  481. Comment by Susan on 8/8 @ 6:30 pm #

So….what I am hearing here that I am irresponsible for the fact that I, on Feb 14th this year, had emergency surgery for a cancerous tumor removed at the cost of hundred grand for surgery and icu. Now, have what is considered pre exsisting condition. Oh that makes me irresponsible because I work and do not qualify for any source of State Aid. Oh that makes me irresponsible that everything I worked so hard for will be lost to pay for what I once paid in Medical Premiums to protect myself and to prevent from loosing my home etc so on. Oh how irresponsible I am, that the Surgeon’s Receptionist told me I can not be seen anymore without cash up front or Medical Insurance and would not even accept half for a payment for follow up care. Felt like a DEATH SENTENCING. Sorry folks, the only ray of hope I have is for a Miracle and the REFORM OF HEALTH CARE. The good news is…I may be able to find a second job here pretty soon to help me save for possible preventitive care. Christmas is coming and more jobs come available….Last but not least…sorry if I offended you all…last good byes and I wish you all the very best. Have a good day

    Nice subtle racism.

Gordo is a doughy white boy. But I enjoy the mentally imbalanced left’s ability to see human forms in a Jackson Pollock as much as the next guy. You only scare each other with this drivel. We laugh.

  483. Comment by B Moe on 8/8 @ 6:38 pm #

No Susan, what makes you irresponsible is you want someone else to be responsible for you. I didn’t invent these words, I am just telling you what they mean. Although after your last post I don’t think I am up to the job.

That’s not what is being advocated, maya. Single payer, single source is what is being pushed.

Barbaras mistake was living in Oregon. She is what medicaid/medicare was designed for.Since we already have medicaid/medicare there is no reason for another government option.

Economics has been explained to you adnauseum. It’s not my fault you’re stupid.

Why don’t you go to DU where they will believe you

  485. Comment by geoffb on 8/8 @ 6:43 pm #

    Susan,

I read you comment over at the baseline site. One thing you should realize, you did get surgery to remove the cancer. You did get a followup to remove the staples. All this was done in time to save your life. Under the Obama care as it is structured this may not happen.

Under “single payer systems” all over the world people wait months, years to have surgery like you got. That is how the care is rationed. By waiting. So that some die, some simply give up, and others become to far along to be saved when their surgery finally arrives.

That Emergency surgery you got would not have happened. Right now you would be 6 months into your wait for surgery, cancer growing. That is the reality behind all the nice sounding lies that are being fed to everyone.

Health Care Reform is about power, government power. Making medical care better is not part of it. Making care more accessible for you/ me is not part of it. Power for those in charge is what it is about.

You are the best person to take care of you. Perhaps you can find better work, I know this is a bad time for all, I’ve been laid off for 3 months now. Keeping my health insurance (COBRA) costs a good bit. If I didn’t pay that then when I’m called back I might not get insurance again.

I will pray you find the help you seek.

  486. Comment by Carin on 8/8 @ 6:45 pm #

Susan. Yes, I currently have it. But I’ve been w/o. After college. And for a few months last year. Pre-existing conditions wasn’t an issue for my husband when he got a new policy.

    Funny that.

I think Obama may have had a pain pill for Susan …

  488. Comment by JD on 8/8 @ 6:59 pm #

Susan – You would not have been broke under ObamaCare, you would be dead.

  489. Comment by Big D on 8/8 @ 8:20 pm #

    Susan,

Since you are looking to legislate by anecdote, let me share mine. My Mother in Law was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006. She had undergone successful treatment in 1979 for the same. IOW, it was a pre-existing condition, however, her insurance was such that the basic course of chemo was covered. As you are probably aware, the basics doesn’t cover much. So, what did we do? My wife asked if we could cover her other costs. While this was an incredible burden, I agreed without any reservation. Just one of the anti-nausea treatments cost nearly $5,000 per week, all out of pocket. I was glad to pay it too as it eased her suffering. Thing is, under proposed legislation, the drugs would not be available for purchase as they would never have been developed. If you don’t know why, look up R&D and ROI.

As the bills piled up I took out a HELOC and maxed out every card I had. In roughly 18 months we accrued over a quarter million in debt. Ultimately, the cancer won, but I would do it all again. That is what families do.

As much as it cost and as much debt as I have accrued, I never, not once, believed that someone else should be responsible. Our family simply stepped up and did what needed to be done. If necessary I would have taken a second job, sold off assets, or held a bake sale, but I would never presume to tell my neighbor that they were legally responsible for my family’s care.

Having said all that, I wish you the best. May your best days be in front of you.

Susan…my kids are back in bed. Yet, they still have not brought me or the missus any crack or vicodin. Will the prophet do that for me? Or, sorry for the patriarchy…will the prophet do that for us? My wife is fucking hot, but she does love herself some crack. Me? I’m a good looking guy who loves what vicodin does for my chronic (my wife loves when I say that, gets her all hot) pain. Fuck, fuck, fuck.

  491. Comment by Susan on 8/8 @ 8:44 pm #

Thank you for your imput…I am not looking for someone to take care of me, and yes I have my home up for sale…no offers as of yet. How awsome of the gentleman that helped out his mother inlaw, and what a blessing to have a family that stepped up and did what needed to be done. I am the family member that steps up to the ones that depend upon me. Bottom line is for my concern to continue to help those who need me. If I don’t live, work and pay…I will not beable to help finish raising my two wonderful Grandson’s nine and three years old.

Barack Obama gives two shits about his family. He lets them live in shacks and squalor. He’s not a stepper upper.
