Michael Jackson toys given burial [Darleen Click]

Wow. And I thought only California could be this weird

Detroit — Two hearses jammed with stuffed animals left in memory of Michael Jackson were given a two-car police escort Friday to the toys’ burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, leaving police officials highly critical of the decision afterward.

“There’s no way to defend it,” Detroit Police 2nd Deputy Chief John Roach said. “It’s unacceptable. Clearly, this is not something that ever should have happened.”

Detroit Police officials said they couldn’t say how much the escort cost the city. The escort guided the hearses from the funeral procession through red lights. [...]

At the cemetery, the toys were unloaded from the tops of the hearses and from boxes inside the vehicles. They were then placed into clear plastic bags and then inside donated vaults.

The cemetery donated the equivalent of three graves for the vaults. A donated gravestone also detailed the singer’s impact on the music industry and the world.

Jackson’s songs played over speakers as a service was held. “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough” played as the hearses arrived and “Ben” as the service ended.

A Teddy Bear funeral. Alrighty, then.

Er, I got nothing else.

That seems harmless. Detroit and whimsy have been too long parted.

I kinda feel about Micheal Jackson the way CJ Roberts was wont to characterize the way to end discrimination on the basis of race. It’s a less is more approach I think.

Racially motivated maybe, in Detroit..? Naaaah, can’t be…

    DIRECTIVE 10-289

Point One: All workers, wage earners, and employees of any kind whatsoever shall henceforth be attached to their jobs and shall not leave nor be dismissed nor change employment, under penalty of a term in jail. All person reaching the age of twenty-one shall report to the Unification Board, which shall assign them to where, in its opinion, their services will best serve the interests of the nation.

Well, lessee….. there’s still a World Historical Revolution aiming at freedom ongoing in Iran, a press by the people to unseat their tyrannical theocratic oppressors. There are no signs this trend will abate until it is successful.

The Iranian’s neighbors, the Iraqis are still in process of getting up on their own two feet, while overplaying their sovereignty hand somewhat, with American forces pushed to outlying bases where they may be taking casualties due to insufficient force protection in the areas surrounding those bases. On the “good thing to report” side, preparations for another election are underway in Iraq and the Shia Prime Minister is working hand in hand with the Sunni politicos in Anbar in a attempt at achieving national unity (and in the bargain, retain his elective office).

The Indians have shown a forthright dollop of reason, telling Mrs. Clinton to get stuffed with her AGW bullcrap. They want to find wealth for their nation and people and fullwell understand that economic growth and well being is dependent on plentiful and inexpensive energy resources.

Obama wants the Israelis to stop their Jewish people from building apartments in Jerusalem of all places. The Israelis, like the Indians, know how to tell Obama and his arabist State Dept. where they can get off. Three cheers for the sane still abroad in the world.

Hondurans are holding up pretty well against the leftist bully boys of the International Organizations and their pals Chavez, Ortega, Castro and Obama. Why Oscar Arias chose to play ball with the lefties is still a bit of a mystery to me but there it is, so the talks under Costa Rican auspices look to be at an end. Zelaya appears to continue to operate under the illusion that he can return to Honduras in something other than a prison uniform, another mystery yet to be solved.

And WHO, pray tell, “conducted” the “service?” And what kind of service? Are stuffed animals religious? Stuffing to stuffing? Sawdust to sawdust? Dearly be-snuggled, we are gathered here … Are Barbie & Ken married in heaven?

If those toys are covered with toxic mold and mildew you may have some genuine resurrections occurring in some of the other crypts.

Because Jackson cared about children…they are burying Jackson’s toys? How about auctioning them off for charity? No wonder he was nuts, everyone around him was nuts too.

    Perhaps there is incriminating DNA.

Let me get this straight…Americans buried (in 3 plots no less!) stuffed animals? Because…why? A perfect example of an exercise in symbolism over substance.

If I wasn’t sure before that the U.S.A was in a terminal, Romanesque sort of shrivelly decline, then this episode would nail that notion.

We go, in some 40 short years, from putting Americans on the moon to burying Michael Jackson’s stuffed memorial toys. Points on a line that’s on a negative slope.

Hey, why can’t we turn this around and make Michael Jackson’s incipient burial not an otherwise mindless display of further strangeness, but symbolic of burying child molestation forever?

At least Michael Jackson’s lifetime craziness would finally end with a real accomplishment.
