In the latest installment of Barack Obama: What Once We Called Neocon, we learn that Goldman Sachs and The Hope For Change Administration are friendly.
President Obama said Friday he would nominate Robert Hormats, a vice chairman of Goldman Sachs International, to a top economic position at the State Department.
Good news like this always comes out late on weekends. Imagine all the monoculture; it’s easy if you try.

Sure, it’s always good to let a Fox loose in the henhouse…
Like I’ve commented before, isn’t it curious how Goldman Sachs seems not record astonishing profits, but also enjoy so much influence, regardless of who is in control of the government?
Absolute dollahz, corrupts absolutely…

Just an aside, Bob Hormats ought to be in the State Department, more properly so than Obama ought to be President I think. I’ve expected to see him back there sooner than this, though he wasn’t placed during the Clinton admin. or didn’t want to go until now. Of all the Obama appointments, this is one of the better ones and not something to get all riled up about.

Now, I find out it’s Goldman Sachs dudes in the State Department! Wow, I guess that definition changes every time we need a new reason to get hacked off.
But, while you’re doing the old ranting coot thing, could you also explain to meya how Democrats are all really secessionists and and in favor of slavery and secession? After that, you can explain how you morphed into 2009 with your 1870’s politics.

Josh, liberalism is fascism. It involves leaving businesses nominally in private hands while killing them with overregulation. What we’re seeing now with O! is edging closer to Communism, where the state owns the business outright.
Comment by Josh on 7/20 @ 10:29 am #
Gee, gosh willikers to you, Mr. SDN, how can one be fascist and Communist, since, according to their adherents, those two belief systems are diametrically opposed? Also, how does hiring an investment banker, the apogee of libertarian, free market ideology imply one is a Communist. I would have thought, as meya pointed out, that that kind of in-breeding between muscular capitalist and the State Department would make you happy.
It’s weird to think Hitler, Stalin, Franco, and Mussolini didn’t know who they hated. They were all just the same and didn’t know it! Wow.
Oh, and SBP, you’re kind of a dick, aren’t you? Is there ever a time when you post something that doesn’t involve snarling invective? Wait, hold your response…we get. Markov generator of silly hate, maybe.
Comment by Carin on 7/20 @ 10:38 am #
Gee, gosh willikers to you, Mr. SDN, how can one be fascist and Communist, since, according to their adherents, those two belief systems are diametrically opposed?
Not so, Josh. They don’t exist on any sort of linear scale in which to be on opposite sides. They’re more like cousins.
Also, how does hiring an investment banker, the apogee of libertarian, free market ideology imply one is a Communist.
What? You don’t really get it, do you? A Capitalist doesn’t want to be involved with government. They want government to leave them the fuck alone.
That they get in bed together suggests something sundry. I’m sure you would completely understand if the president doing the co-mingling were a Republican. Then you’d be all up in arms. Try to imagine it for a moment. Maybe there will be a flash of light or something.
It’s weird to think Hitler, Stalin, Franco, and Mussolini didn’t know who they hated. They were all just the same and didn’t know it! Wow.
It’s ironic that folks with such COMPLETELY TOTALLY DIFFERENT ideologies used frighteningly similar methods to achieve their goals. I wonder why that is?
Let’s ponder this.
Comment by B Moe on 7/20 @ 10:43 am #
Progressivism tends to fascism, real liberalism is in opposition to either. Please don’t contribute to the continued misuse of a good word and concept.
Comment by B Moe on 7/20 @ 10:45 am #
That is because you are basically a fool, Josh, who has no idea what any of the words you are using really mean.
Comment by Carin on 7/20 @ 10:48 am #
I think Josh should try to work the word “paradigm” into his comments. I always think that makes folks look smarter.
Comment by SDN on 7/20 @ 11:35 am #
Sorry, B Moe, it’s almost a reflex….
One of these four is not like the others…..
Josh conveniently leaves out the whole Hitler invading Russia episode. And of course, the fact that Fascists / Nazis and Communists were fighting each other in the streets during the 20s and early 30s, in both Germany and Italy.
Facts are so inconvenient…..
Comment by Silver Whistle on 7/20 @ 12:48 pm #
It’s not every day you read a comment so completely and utterly retarded as #35. Josh, if you are not aware of the socialist origins of fascism, you have no business here. Go and read a book, you are an embarrassment to your education system. You think SBP is only full of snarling invective? I wager a penny to a pound of pig droppings that the first time you post something coherent, logical and well-reasoned, SBP will happily engage you. He is under no such obligation at present.
Comment by B Moe on 7/20 @ 2:31 pm #
Understood. I blame Limbaugh.
Comment by Josh on 7/20 @ 10:19 pm #
SDN, you tool, if you can’t understand sarcasm, maybe you should shut up. I’m not the one arguing Fascism, a movement of the right, is the same as Socialism or Communism. You tools, at the behest of Lucianne Goldberg’s nepotism, are. Frankly, it’s more embarrassing than the usual trope of exaggerations about Obama.
Oh, and B Moe, Jets and Sharks. No, he wouldn’t, since, according to him, there is no left wing argument worth responding to.
Comment by Bob Reed on 7/20 @ 10:39 pm #
josh, you have absolutely no idea of history or how it relates to political science do you? Outside of the talking points issued by Axelrod of course.
Let me give you a clue. Nazi’s were national Socialists and were fascists by definition. Just because they scrapped in the streets and on the battlefield with the communists doesn’t make them any less socialist or fascist. The same is true with Mussolini and the Italians…
And socialist are a movement of the political left; again, regardless of how they struggled with other elements of the political left (the communists) for control…
You really need to have your facts straight, and not simply resort to ad homs or bot-like-talking-point-repetitions…
That’s not how we roll…
Comment by SBP on 7/20 @ 10:48 pm #
“josh”: according to their adherents, those two belief systems are diametrically opposed?
Because their “adherents” are liars.
Bob: Just because they scrapped in the streets and on the battlefield with the communists doesn’t make them any less socialist or fascist.
Right. Trotsky and Lenin didn’t get along. Neither did Stalin and Mao.
I guess according to “josh” that would mean that they had COMPLETELY OPPOSITE IDEOLOGIES.
You’re an ignoramus, “josh”. Sorry, but that’s just the way it is.
Comment by SBP on 7/20 @ 10:50 pm #
I’m not the one arguing Fascism, a movement of the right
I’d bet money that you can’t come up with a coherent and consistent definition of “right” and “left”.
I prefer to draw the line between freedom and slavery.
You’re on the slavery side, “josh”. Sorry to break the news to you.
Comment by Silver Whistle on 7/21 @ 2:02 am #
You tools, at the behest of Lucianne Goldberg’s nepotism, are.
Josh puts forward the lie that Liberal Fascism creates a meme that fascism and socialism have common origins. This tells us two things:
1) Josh hasn’t read the book, and therefore hasn’t a clue as to Jonah Goldberg’s source material
2) Josh hasn’t read many books at all on the subject
Josh, here’s a tip. Why don’t you start here.
Chapter 2, page 27 of the paperback edition would be good. As you can see, it was published in 1944, and predates Liberal Fascism by a good few years. $19.99 and you could be on your way to knowing what the fuck you were talking about. Books, Josh. Love them. Read them. You cretin.
Comment by Silver Whistle on 7/21 @ 2:46 am #
I’m sorry, I must apologise for that last intemperate remark. I realise that cretins everywhere will be distressed by the comparison, and to them I offer my unreserved apologies.
