Parents of children at a primary school have been banned from taking pictures of their own children at the annual sports day. [...]Another parent, who did not want to be named, said: “Parents want to record achievements through their child’s life and not to be made to feel that they are all criminals and are going to upload dodgy photos to some porn site.”
Ah, but you as a parent should know that a Left-dominated Government is always going to look suspiciously at parents … after breeding you are the impediment to the proper raising of good little herd animals.
Those parents should count their [temporary] blessings, at least they got to attend their children’s sports day.
Parents have been banned from attending their children’s sports day in an extraordinary measure to protect pupils from child abductors and paedophiles.More than 270 pupils from four primary schools took part in the event – but there were no spectators because the organisers said they could not prevent ‘unsavoury’ characters from sneaking onto school grounds.

Good thing perverts and pedophiles never become teachers. Sigh.

Actually, a few days after that 17th June story, the Office of the Information Commissioner told them they were misinterpreting the law:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1194843/You-ban-parents-taking-pictures-schools-told.html
It suggested a ‘common sense approach’ should apply. Guess the OIC didn’t realise just how uncommn common sense is these days.

“Good thing perverts….never become teachers.”
Or that teachers never turn out to be perverts:

Parents criticised the move and said they felt there was no legal reason why they cannot take photos for personal use.
Skip the criticizing. Go straight to civil disobedience and massive resistance. They’re your effing kids, for God’s sake.

And why wouldn’t the affected parents simply refuse to allow their children to participate in any event at which the parents weren’t welcome?

Oh shit, Sarah just resigned as Governor? Not running was a definite possibility, but why resign? I have a bad feeling about this.
Comment by Joe on 7/3 @ 2:10 pm #
I am sorry, but not running is one thing, resigning is something else competely. And doing it on a Friday holiday before the 4th of July? I thought Jonah Goldberg’s advice to her today was good, but I see something wrong in all of this given this annoucement. I hope I am wrong, but I do not see an upside for her. Perhaps there is something personal going on in her family (but if that is the case it is still bad for her).
Comment by B Moe on 7/3 @ 2:12 pm #
Maybe you should just cool your heels until you actually know something Joe.
Or you could run about willy nilly starting rumors and stirring shit all over the internets.
Up to you.

It’s a stunner, but speculation without facts is nothing but gossip.
Shall we please take a 48 hour rule on this one?
Comment by Joe on 7/3 @ 2:22 pm #
There is no speculation Darleen. She actually gives an explation here. I accept that at face value, which actually reflects disgust with the personal mudraking attacks of national politics (imagine that), although I still do not see the upside with this for her national political ambitions (if she still has them).
Comment by Joe on 7/3 @ 2:24 pm #
And B Moe, Darleen, there is no speculating on my part (other than thinking it might be personal). And her statement confirms that was at least part of this. That vote around the Palin family table prompted by attacks on Trig. Hmmm, any surprise there given the lies spun by Sullivan and his crew of Trig Truther Jihadists?
Comment by B Moe on 7/3 @ 2:25 pm #
I missed that bit in her statement, Joe. Maybe you could highlight it for me.
Comment by Abe Froman on 7/3 @ 2:26 pm #
Joe the spamming yenta.
Comment by Darleen on 7/3 @ 2:29 pm #
Joe
I read the NRO piece…nothing in there about personal issues save that the attacks on her family, especially Trig, had her family voting for her getting out.
So why speculate beyond that with “a bad feeling”?
Comment by Blind Howling Moonbat on 7/3 @ 2:30 pm #
Which one of her daughters is pregnant this time, Joe?
Comment by Joe on 7/3 @ 2:34 pm #
I am sorry, I have a bad feeling that if she chose to do this to run for president, it might not help her chances in that goal. That is the bad feeling.
Alterantively the personal vicious attacks against Trig may have made the Palin’s decide there are better things in life than politics. That is bad too.
You folks have a habit of shooting the messenger. I like Sarah Palin, I supported her as a McCain pick before he actually picked her. I do not want things to go badly for her, but I am troubled by this particular choice. The only reason you are reacting the way you are, is because you are troubled by it too.
Comment by Joe on 7/3 @ 2:37 pm #
Bline Howling Moonbat, ask that question of yourself. I have never suggested any such thing of Palin’s kids and have been 100% supportive of them when the real moonbats went after them.
And Abe Froman, fuck you too. If you are really Palin supporters, are you telling me you consider resigning early from the Alaska governorship a good move for a Presidential run in 2012?
Comment by sdferr on 7/3 @ 2:37 pm #
This reaction by people right here is you reaping what you’ve sown, Joe. Yet you still seem not to understand that.
Comment by Darleen on 7/3 @ 2:41 pm #

Her family is HAPPY with the decision.
Good enough for me.
Comment by Spiny Norman on 7/3 @ 2:42 pm #
I guess (former) Governor Palin is taking Jonah Goldberg’s advice to STFD and STFU to heart…
Comment by B Moe on 7/3 @ 2:43 pm #
Remember a discussion we had awhile back about her needing to bypass the conventional media altogether and take her message directly to the people? Kind of hard to do when you are also trying to run a state, and constantly besieged by politically motivated ethics complaints and lawsuits.
Now, the road ahead is wide fucking open.
Comment by Darleen on 7/3 @ 2:44 pm #
Joe
Maybe she has decided that a Prez run in 2012 is not in her (or her family’s) best interest.
I still support her.
When people make your job impossible and your job is looking out for other people, if you aren’t a narcissist you move out of the way so the people you serve can GET served.
Comment by Spiny Norman on 7/3 @ 2:46 pm #
A good point. The relentless attacks by the Democrats and the MSM (but I repeat myself) on her family were something no one should ever have to put up with. It was shameful.
Comment by dicentra on 7/3 @ 2:47 pm #
Palin is taking Jonah Goldberg’s advice to STFD and STFU to heart…
Goldberg advised her to bone up on the issues and to be more selective in choosing her battles.
Besides, it’s always possible that she can handle the heat but that it’s taking a toll on her family that she finds unacceptable.
Comment by Joe on 7/3 @ 2:52 pm #
Darleen, I do not disagree (I want the Palins to be well), but if Palin was forced out of poltics by personal attacks against her and her family, that is not a good thing. That is a very bad thing.
Comment by Darleen on 7/3 @ 2:55 pm #
dicentra
This will slow down the obvious Leftist tact since the election of filing multiple, frivolous and sometimes contradictory “ethics” violations (the 15th out of 15 was just dismissed) trying to financially destroy her and her family.
And the personal attacks on Trig are so beyond the pale I will never understand the depth of the moral depravity of those that engaged in it.
Comment by Joe on 7/3 @ 2:56 pm #
Jonah’s response:
It is not my fault either Darleen. I am worried by this decision for a host of reasons. But what I am not is hoping for bad things to happen to Sarah Palin and her family.

Comment by Spiny Norman on 7/3 @ 3:03 pm #
Why is deciding that the Democrat Media attacks on her family are more than they should have to bear, and getting out of politics is the best thing for them? It seems to me that her being able to set aside her ego and personal ambition for the sake of her family is a very good thing.
Comment by Darleen on 7/3 @ 3:03 pm #
“tell MSNBC”
Let me say I’ll wait on the credibility of that source.
Comment by Spiny Norman on 7/3 @ 3:05 pm #
As far as the Democrats and their media lackeys playing the politics of personal destruction, that is par for the course.
Any conservative with national political aspirations should know full well what to expect.
Comment by dicentra on 7/3 @ 3:06 pm #
Let me say I’ll wait on the credibility of that source.
True dat. But it also makes sense that she’d drop out totally. She has obligations to her family AND to her state (to not be continually dealing with the predatory ethics charges), and they should overrule personal ambition.
Comment by Salt Lick on 7/3 @ 3:07 pm #
If she’s out for good, does this mean that the terrorists have won?
It would mean that soon everyone here will be called terrorists.
Comment by Spiny Norman on 7/3 @ 3:11 pm #
If by “terrorists” you mean the Democratic Party, then I suppose in some way, yes. It may be a Pyrrhic victory, as a great many people will remember their tactics and not think kindly of them for it.

Comment by sdferr on 7/3 @ 2:37 pm #
Jonah Goldberg wrote this to Sarah Palin earlier today. This was the reaction. Lots of angry emails telling Jonah how he was all wrong. Not much different than your bullshit emotional reaction sdferr.
Acutally I understand it quite fine. When Sanford’s office was acting bizzarely about his trip last week I said so. JD and others went nuts on me all day, suggesting I was giving creedence to the rumors. I actually assumed there was nothing to the story, said that repeatedly, but kept saying when a governor has a press office acting bizzarely that alone was a problem. Darleen kept saying she was good with it, trusting the wife. Turned out the local press was dialed in, Sanford’s wife was not supporting him, and things were far worse than any of us imagined. I was not happy about it. That was a bad things for conservatives.
As for you sdferr, you are one of those conservatives who cannot really think. You are a follower and reactionary, the flip side of those Daily Kos kids who attack anyone off message. You love impunging meanings and intents to what I do (or anyone who says anything that disturbs your little world), just like the left does to Sarah Palin on a regular basis. So go fuck yourself. Or better yet, try thinking objectively with your frontal brain lobes, rather than with your reptilian brain.
Let me again clarify. I am worried by this decision if she is runing for President in 2012, because I think it is better for her to serve out her term. If you disagree fair enough. If that is her decision I support her but I am troubled by it. And if I am wrong, and this turns out to be politically the best choice for her, well then I will be very happy to be wrong.
If it is because she is just sick of politics and sick of people attacking her family, I am troubled by that. We do not need good candiates being driven out of politics by scumbags on the left.

Comment by Joe on 7/3 @ 3:16 pm #
It says a lot about Palin’s priorities, which would be to put her own family first. I totally respect that and support her and her family. Still, it is a loss for all of us. I take it you would prefer an alternative ending to Mr. Smith Goes To Washington?
Comment by Joe on 7/3 @ 3:16 pm #
Your whiny bullshit chiding sdferr.
Comment by sdferr on 7/3 @ 3:19 pm #
There isn’t anything particularly emotional about it Joe. Sorry to disappoint. I was merely attempting to point out that you’ve earned a reputation through you’re comments here and that it isn’t surprising that folks would react as they do based on that. It seems to me that you’ve built that reputation entirely on your own, without aid from anyone else that I can see. There isn’t any call to curse the skies for it. Have a beer instead.
Comment by Joe on 7/3 @ 3:26 pm #
sdferr, what is my reputation? That I stirred the pot between Patterico and Jeff? You know something, I am not the person to blame for that meltdown. I told Patterico he was a fucking asshole for banning Jeff and attacks on Darleen.
But you are reacting to me because you are upset over Sarah Palin. I am sorry that is the case. Go have a beer yourself.
Comment by dicentra on 7/3 @ 3:26 pm #
It may be a Pyrrhic victory, as a great many people will remember their tactics and not think kindly of them for it.
Which people? Those who currently think well of the Dems? Puh-leeze. Either they agreed with the smears pre-election or they didn’t. I don’t think that The Destruction of Sarah Palin will be a rallying cry for anyone but the base.
Comment by sdferr on 7/3 @ 3:30 pm #
Where the heck are you getting that from Joe?
Comment by Joe on 7/3 @ 3:37 pm #
You sdferr. Becuase you do not even try to engage me on the objective arguments I make, but go straight for an ad hominem (i.e., “This reaction by people right here is you reaping what you’ve sown, Joe.”). That reaction sdferr is emotional and subjective, it is not based on what I am objectively saying. Am I wrong? Make an argument and try to show why I am wrong.
You never do that though. You are like a Democrat in that regard.

Well, since the point I’d tried to make to you had nothing to do with your statements vis a vis S. Palin, but was about you and the reaction that B Moe and Darleen had to your comments on Palin, I’d say you have me there Joe, it certainly was ad hominem in the strictest sense of the term. I frankly wasn’t all that interested in your Palin speculations at the time, so saw no need to address them (and haven’t yet).
I am interested in your speculations as to my (emotional) reaction to Palin’s announcement though, since I haven’t professed any such at this point. It’s the mind reading that intrigues, I guess.
Comment by Joe on 7/3 @ 3:51 pm #
Oh sdferr, you have no opinion on Palin, just on me and the reaction to B Moe and Darleen to my post on Palin. I suppose I should be flattered how interested you are in me. But I am not. I just find you rather predictable and dull.
Comment by sdferr on 7/3 @ 3:58 pm #

Hell, I did the same thing to teve Schmidt the other day.
And I do not think Sarah’s decision makes Schmidt right. I think she bailed because she is sick of the bullshit associated with politics. Who can blame her. I respect her putting her family first. Whether she has a political future in a presidential run depends on her, but that is a big if now.

sdfer, why bother trying to firm up my bonafides. I made some pretty rational arguments on Palin, not attacking her, just saying I thought this was a bad move (but I hoped I was wrong) if she was going for a Presidential run in 2012 and that I was sad if she was driven out of politics. Because I like Sarah Palin. I know B Moe likes her too (he thinks we should not write Palin off and I have to agree with that, it is way too soon to know how this will ultimately play). I do not mind the debate.
But this is a rought and tumble place and frankly the picture is funny. It kinda looks like Steve Schmidt and I imagine it looks like guinsPen too (in spirit at least).
