Eating George [Darleen Click]

cartoon by Darleen Click

And hell, right wingers told us this in the weeks prior to this murder, when they repeatedly and aggressively made fun of the concept of empathy. [...] Empathy: The quality that Dr. Tiller had in spades. No wonder he was public enemy number one to so many conservatives,… *

If he had a mote of empathy he couldn’t have done what he did in life.

Fingers crossed that this thing accepts anchor tags…

Actually, granting that Tiller really did have empathy up and out the wazoo, it makes the point made by John Hasnas all the more powerful. Tiller’s empathy for women who didn’t want their pregnancies crowded out any room for compassion for the unseen.

I see they’ve made up a new term. “Anti-Choice Terrorism.” Bravo.

Don’t they know the terrorist was driven to it by all the abortions? The abortionists are all “Little Eichmanns.”

“Then — oh Jesus Christ, Stingo, he actually embraced me again and I heard him say, ‘Sophie, Sophie, certainly you may see your little boy.’ He said, ‘Do you think I could deny you that? Glaubst du, dass ich ein Ungeheuer bin? Do you think I am some kind of monster?’”

The thing that people don’t get about empathy is that you don’t have to share the same experience with someone to empathize with them. You just need to have those same feelings. It’s not that difficult. If someone is telling you a sad story and they start to cry, all you have to think about is the last time you felt that sad, and you’ll have to hold back a few tears too.

I can’t empathize with this guy who murdered Tiller, because I’ve never experienced psychopathy or psychosis. The only thing I can understand is a feelings of injustice and social responsibility. But to have these feelings for fetuses instead of women is just beyond me.

Maybe you guys should do giant paper mache fetuses telling people their sad little stories, so Emily can better get in touch with her feelings.

    Leftist Terrorism.

Police Chief Stuart Thomas said Pvt. William Long, 23, of Conway was killed. Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula, 18, of Jacksonville was wounded and in stable condition, Thomas said.

Interviews with police showed that Muhammad “probably had political and religious motives for the attack,” the police chief said.

Thomas said Muhammad would be charged with first-degree murder, plus 15 counts of committing a terroristic act. He said those counts result from the gunfire occurring near other people.

Where’s the Left’s empathy for our soldiers?

I see, it’s a selective empathy. I’m thinking that Emily doesn’t really “get” this empathy concept. It’s sound more like she knows how to ACT empathetic. In their little world, there is no difference.

Just another convenient star for the usual suspects to tie their cries of Outrage! to…

Tolerance for all!, except, of course, those who disagree with their proscribed points of view…

Empathy for all, except for their poitical opponents, who are to mocked and have death wished upon them…

Freedom of speech for all, except for those that would say what they don’t want to hear…

No discrimination tolerated, except when perpatrated against, and by, the correct people…

Simply another citation in the long list of examples of the hyposrisy and intellectual dishonesty of the left…

    You think?

If someone is telling you a sad story and they start to cry, all you have to think about is the last time you felt that sad, and you’ll have to hold back a few tears too.

Empathy is all about me. It’s fun and easy.

Sullivan does not realize he is just as bombastic and insufferable as O’Reilly…

just shorter, more contemptable, and mendacious. Loofah anyone?

Isn’t Emily’s idea of empathy a lot like Barcky’s idea of working with political opponents, insofar as he gives them the idea that he has heard them out, and listened to their ideas?

  23. Comment by JD on 6/2 @ 8:26 am #

Emily, you ignorant self-absorbed slut, empathy is not all about you.

To us yes. To them however no. It comes with the idea that some people are are simply more human than others.

The entire intellectual basis for slavery has never been purged from the Democrats. That left them vulnerable to it’s reemergence, it’s resurrection under a new name and form. It changed flavors to the latest and greatest version.

For the past hundred years State slavery has been all the rage. Much more efficient and complete. Shiny! New! Improved! but still tyranny.

Yep. They are dedicated to forcing one man to work to another man’s benefit. They’ve taken to couching it in terms of “helping the needy”, but expect us not to see that where ever they get their way, those in need get more needy while those in power get richer.

Well, maybe they’ll take some sort of terrorism seriously.

We should quickly find the next GOP President to be, who is eight years old now, and have him make friends with the shooter. I’m not sure what good this might do us, other than the delicious symmetry of the whole thing.

  27. Comment by Alec Leamas on 6/2 @ 1:36 pm #

I mean to add, that the funny thing about empathy is that it’s only really worth something if you extend it to people you don’t naturally like or admire.

It’s also kind of hard to identify what Tiller did as “empathy,” since “empathy” doesn’t ordinarily provide you with a Jaguar S-type and a summer home, as the remuneration for services one may provide in a profession, trade, or business ordinarily do.

Better yet is the TinyUrl Creator. Right click on the page, and one click later you’re got a shiny new TinyURL on your clipboard waiting to be pasted. It also comes in handy when the blog hates your links for some reason like it hates that link this Tiny URL takes you to.
