Cybil Shepherd … even blondes are embarrassed

Tennessee-born beauty Cybill Shepherd definitely isn’t one to waste words — and had she no qualms in speaking out about who she thought was to blame for the passing of Proposition 8 in California’s last election, which led to gay and lesbian marriage rights being overturned.

“The Mormons and Catholics,” she told Tarts at the recent L.A Gay & Lesbian Center’s “An Evening With Women” celebration in Beverly Hills. “Most of the money came from Utah, it’s very unfortunate.”

However Shepherd does feel that President Obama is doing enough for the cause. [wha..? ed.]

“I think he is working hard at it, I really do. I am just so encouraged by Iowa and Vermont. We have a tough road ahead in California, but we’ll be hittin’ within a year,” she added with confidence.

Unfortunately the article didn’t say what institution had issued Shepherd her day pass.

From frothy idiocy to forehead-smacking vileness by someone other than Janine Garofalo

Sometime back in February, about three weeks into Barack Obama’s administration, everybody on the left suddenly noticed that there was something different going on with the conservatives.

The outrageous screeds and paranoid delusions sounded pretty much as they always had — but there was a new fury behind them, a strident urgency that hadn’t been there before, and a very audible shift of the gears in right-wing behavior and rhetoric.

None of this came as a surprise to veteran right-wing watchers — we’d been predicting a bad backlash since the 2006 election — but more than three months into the new administration, it’s increasingly hard to ignore the fact that this ominous new trend is taking on a momentum of its own.

On April 7, the Department of Homeland Security ratified some of those observations. Fueled by bone-deep racism, an unnatural terror of liberal government, frustration over the economic downturn, and fears about America’s loss of world standing, they said, the militant right wing is indeed rising again.

Its numbers are up, its talk is turning ugly, and it’s not unthinkable that we could be in for a wave of domestic terrorism unseen since the mid-1990s. [...]

The far right wing has been laying the groundwork for violent action for decades. Long before they turn dangerous, political and religious groups take their first steps down that road by adopting a worldview that justifies eventual violent action.

If you plan on reading these screeds, please remember not to drive or operate heavy machinery for a few hours afterwards.

Me? I’m going to go sleep it off.

Wave of domestic terrorism in the mid-1990s? Really?

“I think he is working hard at it, I really do.

    Seriously?

“All hell is going to break lose,” Barry said while speaking to reporters. “We may have a civil war. The black community is just adamant against this.”

White liberals just can NOT come to terms with reality.

    Me

Liberals do not count molotov cocktails at the RNC convention, Eco and Animal rights bombings as terrorism see. The first Domestic terrorist ever added to the FBI most wanted last month is a eco bomber leftist, they are bombing scientist homes with children in them and they’re worried about right wing screeds.

Eco bombers were all the rage in 1990, eh?

Yeah, we woke the hell up.

by adopting a worldview that justifies eventual violent action

Uh…lessee, who was it that wanted to storm USMC recruiters offices in San Fransisco and essentially occupy government property?

Lessee…have more right wingers or left wingers gone off to join the Taliban and fight against America?

I hope his kidneys fail” – Right wing or left wing?

What color is the sky in these peoples’ world?

They openly talk of killing Bush and Cheney and they’re suddenly sensitive of tone in speech? It’s like they’re retarded or something.

Oh wait, didn’t they just hunt down in buses financial peeps at their homes? But they’re concerned with screeds?

You know, I think 24 is going to give me the ultimate disappointment this year when Jack Bauer doesn’t kill Jeanine’s character.

Every time I think, Okay…maybe we’ve reached some level of “crazy” equilibrium and it will level off here…I am sorely disappointed. These people are just nuts.

This is some WMD of stupid.

He is a blank screen that people project their wishes on, remember that line? Even though it may totally counter all the accumulating evidence, including His Actual Words, these folks are going to have a really hard time seeing anything but what they want to.

  12. Comment by Mr. Pink on 5/12 @ 5:28 am #

From Bmoe’s link “It was OK on the campaign but now it’s the real world. I’m surprised that Obama is turning out to be so left-wing. He’s a real class warrior.”

Whoever said that makes Cybill Shepherd look like a Mensa member.

  13. Comment by Matt on 5/12 @ 6:28 am #

Carin, I agree- I keep hoping she’s gonna be in on it and eat a bullet or fall out ofa building or something. You’d think the 24 people would know their core audience.

Of course, its these same douchenozzels that are subjecting me to “green commercials” every week.

These goddamned people are intent on creating this shit, aren’t they?

What would happen to Cybil if she were to learn that 70% of blacks in Ca. voted for Prop 8?

Exploding head? Desperate denial until she has a seizure? Smile and nod until the orderlies lead her away?

Awesome comedy moment: Cybil leads a protest against a black church. Hilarity ensues.

“Sara Robinson is a fellow at the Campaign for America’s Future and a consulting partner with the Cognitive Policy Works in Seattle. One of the few trained social futurists in North America, she has blogged on authoritarian and extremist movements at Orcinus since 2006 and is a founding member of Group News Blog.”

Come on now, you people aren’t going to try to argue with one of the few trained social futurists in North America, are you? Why, the Cognitive Policy Works in Seattle wrote the book on conservative thought. Combine that with her blogging on authoritarian and extremeist movements and what you have there is an expert. Who also happens to be the head barrista at the Pioneer Square Starbuck’s, so…there you go.

The person that wrote that speech should be forced to watch lesbian pron starring Cybil, Garafalo, and Rosie for the rest of their natural life.

The second story is the scary one. They are busy laying the ground work of a narrative. A replay of the Clinton comeback of 1995-6.

Obama is the same as the first term of Clinton but with every dial turned to 11. They wish to do it faster, harder, so that the repeat of the 1994 nadir happens in say late 2009 and then the comeback happens in time for the 2010 elections.

This is the same game plan taken to a new level. What this article is setting up is to have “man made disaster” that happens inside the US to be made the fault of and linked to the conservatives especially to the so called “religious right”.

Their control of all major media makes this possible, no matter what the actual event and cause is, it will be blamed on the “right wing”. This story linked is not the first of it’s kind and there will be more and from more major media sources.

Sounds akin to one of them there “Climate Justice Lawyers.” They all probably went to this school.

    Oh, hell, yes.

They’ll be satisfied whether they have to turn Spontaneous Islamic Combustion into a “right-wing plot” or whether they inspire some nutcase or if they turn some nutcase’s unrelated rage into a “right-wing plot”.
