House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman (D-CA) has all the backing of the press. House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman (D-CA) is on a mission to force Change. (PDF download) And House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman (D-CA) just told us what that mission is and that it’s good for us. Even if they have to slide it into existence thereby saving the Great American Whale from extinction.
Waxman: Mr. Gingrich, I’m sure glad you’re not in charge of foreign policy. Do you think the only way to incentivize the country is by offering them more and more carrots? You’ve gotta have some threats, and sometimes you havta say ‘to incentivize you we’re gonna give you some assistance, but there are gonna be some consequences.’
Newt Gingrich slows House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman (D-CA) with an inconvenient truth.
Gingrich:Â Mr, Chariman, I don’t think of American citizens the way I think of foreign dictators, and I don’t think this Congress should punish the American people. I think this Congress has every right to award the American people, but I don’t think Lincoln’s government of the people, by the people, and for the people should be turned into a government punishing the people and that’s a major difference.
Newt’s performance is sterling all around. See and hear it all at Breitbart TV. Such as:
Waxman:Â Where’s the money gonna come from?
Gingrich:Â First of all, in a Congress that passes a $787B stimulus without reading the bill, I think we can find the money…
[...]
In the EPA analysis of your bill, your bill’s not complete! In the EPA analysis included 150% increase in nuclear power and there’s no nuclear power section of the bill! So I’d be perfectly happy to talk to you in more detail when the bill’s complete…

Lovely. A group of Perfect Latin American Idiots claiming Capitalism is a threat life on the planet. Normally, I’d say the joke’s on them, but we’ve got Perfect Anglo American Idiots in charge of our government who completely agree with them.
Oh, this crap again:
How many times do we have to repeat this, there is no fucking blockade of Cuba, you fucking morons! Kee-riste the US is the ONLY country that does not trade with Cuba. Every other fucking county on the planet trades with Castro’s island gulag.
Damnit.

We hate oversight? What the fuck? How about we hate government manipulation of the financial markets, which is the gaddamned truth of the last 12 years (logner than that, actually).

He seems to have forgotten that the Democrats won the election, so private citizens, especially conservatives, have no right to speak. About anything.
Dissent is no longer the “highest form of patriotism”, I take it.

Cynn, the impostion of what Waxman wants would kill this economy dead. Dead dead dead like not getting back up dead.
Comment by steveaz on 4/24 @ 8:53 pm #
Cynn,
Gingrich is the only house leader in recent history to draft a long-term agenda, cement a reliable caucus behind the agenda, and then enact it.
And it adds a deft punch to his accomplishments that he achieved many of them under an hostile party’s President.
(For comparison ask yourself, “What’d Pelosi achieve under Bush?”)
I think it’s noteworthy too, that, although most American citizens elected to congress leave after some reasonable time, other, more rarefied ones, like Waxman, never seem to leave. It’s as if the atmosphere outside of the Congress capsule is toxic to certain soft-bodied creatures within.
Comment by Spiny Norman on 4/24 @ 8:59 pm #
Henry’s friends in Sacramento have carved out such a safe seat for him that Waxman doesn’t need to campaign, or even leave Washington.
Not that that stops him from raking in the campaign donations…

You speak in Tongue Irony, Cynn. From your Party, the Party whose entire past and future campaign slogans will include, variously, “overcoming the failed polices of the Bush era” or “reversing the failed policies of George Bush”. That same George Bush who managed to keep the U.S safe from attack for 8 years; al-Qaeda being busy everywhere else but on our homeland. Now, you’ve selected a far left leadership that’s bent on CHANGEing everything that’s heart-and-soul of America. Throwing the baby out with the bath water. Hope you like what’s coming. Me? I’m afraid that America’s best days are behind us. We peaked in, oh, 1966 or so..

And once again we have proof from their own mouths that the Dems/socialists see us the American citizenry as the enemy. Think Nappy Napolitano misspoke when she called terrorism “man caused disaster”? You see the Libs have been saying all along that AGW is man caused and a disaster so there you see is justification for treating AGW deniers or those who oppose their agenda the same as terrorists.

1. Oversight? Of what, by whom? Their role is to make laws and spend money. It’s not Congress’ role to oversee anything. It’s the Judiciary’s. Stupid flawed document.
2. C’mon. Would you rather have the next two years, or 2004-2006 back?

Comment by steveaz on 4/25 @ 6:56 am #
Oldcrow @#26,
Yup, now you’re outlining another similarity between terrorists and the progressive movement.
Not only do they see US citizens as the enemy, but they are actively engaged in a low-grade terror campaign designed to scare us into a quasi-martyrdom exercise, that of starving our economy of its available energy so that Mugabe, Chavez and Khomeini might canonize us.
Condensed, here are the similarities I see so far.:
1. the cap-and-trade/stop AGW movement = Islamic Jihad
2. public school children parroting rote environmental mantras = Pakistani Madrassa students repeating Koranic verses.
3. denialists = infidels (convert or face Dhimmitude)
4. gross carbon footprint = unchaste woman without Hijab
5. Democrat/Green Party scolds = Saudi Religious Police
6. Constitutionalist “Tea Party” Americans = White Satan (ie. the enemy)
7. Hollywood scare-pics (ie. explosive CG-effects and fearmongering) = suicide bomber in pizza parlor
An aquaintance called me a ‘denialist’ last week. I didn’t tell him at the time, but my translation of his jab was, “Get with the new Global Jihad, or else.”

Oops! I missed one…an eighth obvious similarity between Global Jihad and the Progressive movement is:
8. Both are transnational movements. You could argue both are opposing blades on the same pair of nation-busting scissors.
(And the scissors’ shared hinge appears to be at the UN.)
OT, but…Cynn’s usually a solid proponent for small government, so I’m guessing there were too many sulfites in her chardonnay last night.

Let’s say for instance that these Democrats are right; that Bush’s terms were marked by the collapse of the average citizen’s standard of living, that they were going broke, that times were never tougher.
Ok, that was their critique of then.
Now when you don’t have a tax-cutting, investment encouraging regime in place but instead a bunch of historic spending, higher regulation, behavior-modifying taxes (roll your own tobacco at $24 a pound, up from $1.07), etc etc yada yada. What do you figure that one sentence takeway of the Obama years will be?
My prediction: the Hari-Kari Years.
