This guy has just let himself and his family in for a world of slime.
Every a-hole on both coasts will spend the next 2 weeks concocting wild rumors and making up “facts” about him in order not to have to confront his points.

How many have they done this to in the last year?

  2. Comment by Spiny Norman on 4/23 @ 11:03 am #

Intolerant ravings from the Paint Huffers. No surprise there.

Hummm, just came across this this morning, Gnostic Fascism.

Rarely do we get such a clear window into the thinking and motives of those who rule our educational institutions, to whom we have entrusted our children, that they may transform a society through their indoctrination into the secular, Utopian vision of their dreams

  4. Comment by Carin on 4/23 @ 11:16 am #

Well, the boy’s a traitor. How would you expect them to react?

It’s like the opposite treatment of when a conservative turns liberal. Or, when a non-conservative pretends she’s conservative and cozies up to the left. See Meghan McCain.

    Carin,

I think Jeff knows exactly how this fellow feels. He turned to the DARK SIDE, after being part of the annointed and everything! How could you let principles and love of Liberty get in the way, Jeff?

  7. Comment by Jeffersonian on 4/23 @ 11:26 am #

There goes that fellowship at MoveOn.org.

  8. Comment by Carin on 4/23 @ 11:28 am #

I find what the fellow did infinitely interesting. Most liberals, sadly won’t even venture to read serious “conservative” journals to discover what actual conservatives are arguing.

It’s like all those “reviewers” for Jonah’s book last year. Too afraid to read it, most of ‘em were, I’m sure.

All your faiths are belong to us!

    BWAAAAA HAHAHAHAHAHA!

WE’LL GET YOU … WE’LL GET YOU ALL, MY PRETTIES!

After all of the Xtian bashing I’ve had to read lo these many years that felt really, really good.

    CHRISTIANS ARE PEOPLES TWO!

  10. Comment by Darleen on 4/23 @ 11:32 am #

It would be amusing if it were not so appalling to consider what the thought process was of the author before he went underground.

“As a responsible American citizen, I couldn’t just ignore the fact that there are a lot of Christian college students out there,” said Roose, 21, now a Brown senior. “If I wanted my education to be well-rounded, I had to branch out and include these people that I just really had no exposure to.

It is as if going to LU was akin to going into the Amazon rain forest to study some exotic prehistoric tribe (though, being “exotic” and “brown” would garner Leftist kudos ) but it is chilling that he really thought he had to go to some exotic place to be “exposed” to Christians (and wow finding out they are regular folk!). The vast majority of Americans identify as Christian and they aren’t all ghettoized in LU in VA.

I guess leftist persistence in demonizing Christians has had the cultural effect of individual Christians self-censoring their speech and passing as secularists in order “not to offend”.

What is the old phrase…bringing coal to Newcastle or something along those lines. That is like discovering Perez Hilton is a dirty…well you know what.

  12. Comment by Abe Froman on 4/23 @ 11:35 am #

Carin I don’t really think it’s the same thing. The right generally castigates apostates for feeding the opposition’s narrative while claiming to still be on the right – or being used to that effect by the left. Who among us cares what Charles Johnson, for instance, has to say about conservatives if he simply mans up and admits he’s a lefty?

All this kid did was puncture the left’s narrative. He hasn’t attacked “his own” that I know of.

Darleen, believe me, I appreciate the pungency of that attitude. There are times when I talk about my beliefs and catch someone looking at me like I just became a full fledged adult member of a Zulu tribe. I can’t even imagine what dicentra goes through.

Nothing made that clearer than the raving cartoons that a certain “mandy” raised on a regular basis. Let’s not forget our own Xtian pixelating fantasist who saw end timers and ID fanatics in everyone who disagreed with her fevered and narrowly defined exegesis of human potential, cultural evolution, ESC and mental deficiencies.

Our young feller would be even more shocked if he attended my conservative Presbyterian Church because the normalcy would be stunning, I think.

  15. Comment by Joe on 4/23 @ 11:49 am #

Abe Froman, you are absolutely correct. I believe in science. I believe the world and the universe are billions of year old. I believe in evolution. I even ride my bike when the weather is nice, and dare I say it, listen to jazz occasinally.

Hell that would make me a Lizoid too if that was the extent of the analysis.

Charles Johnson’s problem is he is a nut job and a liar (and a coward). Hell, be of the left and do the Andrew Sullivan shift. The left will love you for it for a week or so, but they will never ever trust you and you will forever wander in the wilderness. You are correct, if he admitted that people on the right really would not be offended by anything he said.

He would just be ignored and that he cannot take.

Not on topic, but must be stated:

I apparently have nearly driven one of our testers to tears by rejecting her interpretation of our requirements. I did not do so rudely. I did not do so loudly.

Good Lord, why the hell can’t I work with grown-ups?!

Rob I get that at my work too. I do not know what it is with people that can’t take criticism without thinking you are personally insulting them. In a proffessional setting that makes no sense. I mean fuck join the Army or something then complain to me.

There is an interview with this chap in the current issue of Newsweek. One of the things that amazed him about his stint at LU was the dating scene. Nothing at Brown had prepared him for the possibility, let alone desirability, of dating without sex, drugs, or alcohol. Whatever else is there to do, in the company of the opposite sex?

  26. Comment by Timstigator on 4/23 @ 12:31 pm #

Isn’t diversity a wonderful thing? When libs mix with conservatives, and get to know them, things happen. Like, heads implode because perception isn’t reality.

Mostly when that happens I think they tell you that you’re not nearly as conservative as you think but exception granted the stereotype remains intact.

Usually a long rant about how they won and everything’s gonna be different, followed by a plea that I don’t shoot them.

No, it’s not the same thing. But it’s caused by the same thing. People on the left don’t like folks that wander off their reservation, but LOVE IT when ours stray.

  35. Comment by dicentra on 4/23 @ 2:22 pm #

All this kid did was puncture the left’s narrative. He hasn’t attacked “his own” that I know of.

But on the left, to puncture the narrative is to assault all lefties. Their whole identity is tied into the narrative that they are good and Christians are scary, dangerous fanatics.

Puncture that and the whole enterprise collapses on itself.

Dude will react to the excoriation from the left in one of two ways: abandon the Left in disgust or abandon his new-found thesis in embarassment. Let’s hope it’s the former.

I can’t even imagine what dicentra goes through.

Given that I live in Utah, I don’t go through much. But being at Cornell was interesting. No one was rude enough to slag on me to my face, and they thought it was cool to have someone there who was practically Amish, because it helped their multi-culti bona fides.

They were eager to make sure that all their wine-and-cheese soirees also included fruit juice, but they had absolutely no curiosity whatsoever about my beliefs, most of the time. On those few opportunities where I could explain, it was like trying to explain a painting to someone born blind. Didn’t get anywhere at all.

Good Lord, why the hell can’t I work with grown-ups?!

Because our society doesn’t produce them anymore. Next question?

Good lord no, it doesn’t. God bless my sainted wife, but she comes home from her teaching job talking about the petty, juvenile shit that goes on among the teachers and administratio and I can’t believe these people are supposedly functioning adults. Seriously, it’s like the culture of the children has assimilated the adults.

Good for him. He didn’t actually know and decided to see for himself. And then he honestly reported what he saw and heard.

Such honorable behavior ought to be praised wherever it is found.

  38. Comment by Mikey NTH on 4/23 @ 4:12 pm #

Jefforsonian – the adolescent culture has taken over the adult culture. Just look around and you will see what I mean. James Lileks quoted someone recently about the difference between an ‘ought culture’ (you do things because you ought to do them) and a ‘want culture’ (you do things because you want to do them).

Anytime you see someone dress for an event (i.e., a man putting on a tie and a jacket) because it is what’s done, you see the ought culture poking through; anytime you hear of someone giving up a pleasure to get something completed, you see the ought culture raising a periscope.

If only the Liberal Army could do what they really want to do–drive Kevin Roose from his home chanting from the Little Red Book of Stereotypes, humiliate him in public, make him write a self-criticism, and then send him into the countryside for ten years of hard labor until he’s ready to admit that 2 plus 2 equals 5.

  40. Comment by dicentra on 4/23 @ 4:45 pm #

A method which is the hallmark of bigotry: “Oh, so-and-so is alright, but his type in general…””

But I don’t say that about Lefties. I don’t say that the ones I know are OK but the rest are scum. I know that most of them are OK, but that they hold ideas that I believe will destroy the country.

Conservatives believe they have better ideas; progressives believe they are better people.

  41. Comment by CraigC on 4/23 @ 11:55 pm #

This one doesn’t particularly grab me. Sure, the kid’s premise was a bit condescending, but it seemed sincere, and the reaction from the Tards was pretty tame. To be honest, I had more or less the same reaction from a different angle. The first thing I thought when I got to the part about him becoming religious was, “Oh, no. I wish he hadn’t done that.”

I heard on the radio yesterday that a first grader was arrested for hitting a teacher here.

A first grader. The teacher called the cops and had the kid arrested.

I really think folks missed the boat by focusing on Ayres terrorist past instead of his propagandist present. He and his ilk are doing far more damage to this country now than when they were trying to blow up shit.

  43. Comment by B Moe on 4/24 @ 4:36 am #

It seems he had a stick.

The boy was restrained by a principal and two teachers until police arrived.

The kid might have flunked first grade a dozen times or so.

No, they have to advance every child, every year. To do otherwise might damage the tyke’s self-esteem.
