I guess I missed where failed talkshow host and genetic deadender, Janeane Garofalo, earned her degrees in neuroscience
since it is clear and has been clear since Reagan that the republicans, the “conservatives†will NEVER play ball…NEVER…fu%$ um.Their policies have destroyed us and most of the world – that’s a fact not an opinion. [...]
The reason a person is a conservative republican is because something is wrong with them. Again, that’s science – that’s neuroscience. You cannot be well adjusted, open-minded, pluralistic, enlightened and be a republican. It’s counter-intuitive. And they revel in their anti-intellectualism. They revel in their cruelty. [...]
It really is neuroscience. I truly believe that it has something to do with their limbic brain. I really believe that some people’s limbic brain dominates more than others. Our limbic brain controls all our emotions and it causes us to be irrational. Our limbic brain goes into action when we’re ecstatic, frightened, when we’re having sex. I really believe that if a neuroscientist examined the brain of somebody who identified as a conservative, they would find it’s wired differently.
All that mad science tells Jan-inane what superior Democrats must not do:
They think it’s prudent to pander to the least among us – which would be conservatives.
Now, leave aside for a moment that conservatives are more charitable, happy and have better sex than their “liberal” counterparts, Jan-inane’s rant is never about ideological differences, values, morals or philosophy. It is strictly about an appeal to authority (“science tells us!”) that dismisses non-leftists as less than human and, thus, unworthy of any interaction with the clearly superior Left cult members.
What it also does is make Left ideology synonymous with “science”. Al Gore regularly uses his faux science of AGW to shut down any dissent to his political solutions — advocating an authoritarian, collectivist state.
Not that Jan-inane’s use of “science” to disenfranchise those she politically disagrees with is without precedent. When he wasn’t filling mass graves with dissenters, Stalin filled prisons with the “mentally disturbed”. And one of the greatest evils of the last century started with sanitizing and cloaking the hate of Jews with a pseudo-scientific sounding term, anti-Semitism.
Brava, Jan-inane.

“You cannot be well adjusted, open-minded, pluralistic, enlightened and be a republican. It’s counter-intuitive. And they revel in their anti-intellectualism. They revel in their cruelty.”
Yeah, and the lefty’s distillation of foreign policy criticism into over-simplified, and sophmoric, mantra’s like “Bush lied, People Died!”, “The failed economic policies of the last 8 years!”, and “Dissent!…” is the height of intellectualism…
And Cruelty? How about depriving our children of an actual education, choosing to indoctrinate them instead in the name of political power. Or, wishing death upon our soldiers and their utter defeat in the field in order to score a few cheap political points..?
But to hateful individuals like Garafolo, from whom you directly feel the vibe exuded by the underlying hositity that is thinly veiled by her snarky attempt at humor, this is proved by science!…
Darleen, I too find it fascinating how the left always tries to appeal to science! to conflate some gravitas and absolute moral authority to their innane political connivances…
And what none of them realize is that actual science is never about “The Debate is Over!“, but is about the truth of the hypothesis that the debate surrounds and the consistency and repeatability of the results yielded by the inquiry…
Garafolo is a wanna be politician, but too much of a slacker to suffer the due diligence required of non-minority or non-hereditary favorites in the Democratic party. So she masquerades as a slacker comedienne, and does a bad impression of that at best…

In the larger scheme of things Garafalo isn’t terribly important is she? I mean, even in her own chosen field of work, she’s not that good or accomplished, or am I missing something? Not a particularly sparkling comic and as an actress, well, lets say she’s adequate at times and down right poor in the rest of her roles. I never heard her radio shtick but it evidently wasn’t all that either.
It causes me to wonder why she does get the modicum of attention from the public at large that’s in evidence here. And there is the deal, it seems to me. She’s now free riding on the little notoriety she’s gotten from entertainment to serve some (sick) audience with just these ugly sentiments. She’s finally found her niche. An unreflective, ignorant grotesquerie of quasi-political emotion, mostly hatey, some self-congratulatory preening. Still not important though, is she?

It is one thing to study history and quite another to gain perspective from that study. Thus Janine is willfully blind to the transcendent irony of using mental illness to qualify an entire group’s political views without any insight into the historical perspective of the various leftist regimes who have used mental illness as a “diagnosis” when faced with opposing opinions.
Take it one step further, twatwaffle. What should be done with all of these so called mental defectives? Should we be forcibly institutionalized and treated as “the enlightened” did to the “retarded” back when Eugenics was all the rage? How did that work out?
Historical Perspective: The other white meat!

Sdferr: The MSM is more than happy to broadcast far and wide the political opinions of celebrities from A to D list as if they garnered their conclusions from holy scripture. Thus DiCaprio can wax poetic about AGW while winging his way on his private jet to a fashion show in Paris. Occasionally it backfires, re. Sean Penn’s ludicrous and laughable rafting incident in New Orleans or Cameron “”foam head” Diaz wearing the symbol of a brutal rebel group in the country that is regularly brutalized by said group.
Those moments of hilarity, while satisfying, don’t even dent the message in general. Thus well and good mocking is required.

Carin,
It would be if it makes sense for the storyline. I would rather she end up a hero, than the show do another season like the last one.

I would confess, Rob, that I don’t pay close enough attention to her to have even a half educated guess as to where she gets her ideas (such as they are, ought they to be dignified with that appellation?) I very much doubt though, that she actually moves anyone who doesn’t already agree with her sentiments. She’s not a great rhetorician nor even a particularly apt public speaker.
Mocking is a just measure for these sorts, as you say BJTexs, always. The harder work it seems to me, is noodling out the sources Rob wonders about and demonstrating the corruption of logic, the defects of truth in the work of more careful thinkers on the left, who likely wouldn’t want to be caught dead expressing sentiments like these in public (but who, nonetheless, and perhaps even unknown to themselves, may hold just such prejudices privately).
Comment by geoffb on 2/20 @ 10:05 am #
My take on Hollywood and why it has so many seeming leftists is that to be a financial success there requires minimal talent and is for all purposes a random event. It does however require that you be allowed to play the game long enough for your big hit to come your way.
The gatekeepers who determine who can play are on the far left. Appeasing them keeps you in the game where eventually all players will hit it big.
The randomness of success also keeps the mentality alive that those with wealth didn’t really earn it themselves. All is a lottery.
Comment by Sticky B on 2/20 @ 10:06 am #
In an ideal country, one would only be exposed to such jibberish by random happenstance. Unless one were to work at a homeless shelter or mental institution. I grieve that I live in a country where a significant enough number of people give a ratfuck as to what she has to say, that she is provided with a platform which can reach me. Pa-fucking-thetic.

On a kinda related point (conservatives are cruel theory), Rush is was discussing how we’re bailing out the 8% who can’t pay their mortgages- he had a clip from Matt Laaur, who was saying something along the lines of “well isn’t it our responsibility to help those people who can’t pay their mortgage”.

Lay people are permitted to talk about science – I think we are all being a little harsh here.
As someone with a degree in neuroscience I don’t necessarily agree with all her comments, HOWEVER I do certainly degree that there are some distinct commonalities amongst American conservatives, namely their lack of altruism, meaningful introspection and self-awareness, and common sense. Whether these traits can be ‘found’ physically in the brain has not yet been discovered by science, however there are most certainly environmental factors that contribute to these characteristics.
I would also like to see people refrain from making comments on her physical appearance: making fun of someone’s appearance because you do not have the intelligence to formulate a meaningful rebuttal is immature.
