… and 778 pages of Pork to read through.
Of course, any objection to the obscene pork earmarks in the bill, earmarks that Obama was “against”…
“We are going to ban all earmarks, the process by which individual members insert pet projects without review.”
before he was “for”…
“Some critics … contend the bill is full of pet projects. When was the last time that we saw a bill of this magnitude move out with no earmarks in it? Not one.”
… will just make you unpatriotic.
Don’t read it, just smile and take it.

1. None. And I blame him for it. So you agree that overspending is bad. Excellent.
2. The GOP is giving Obama a bad time because he has endorsed, supported, and demanded it be passed. This bill is his baby.

“the economy is reliant on money circulating through it.”…Part II
thor does have a point here. If only because this is what those in the Obama economic Think/Fish Tank actually believe. It’s all about “money” into the system.
Their system.
So $300 billion in permanent job creating tax cuts (and allowing poorly managed companies to die) vs. say, $300 billion for your kids kindergarten teacher to have limitless ripe bananas to roll condoms over to teach your 5yr old about sex and how to hate America properly at the same time.
All “money in the system.”
Sure one version creates a job waiting for your kid when they grow up, and the other creates a need for therapy for your kid when they grow up (because they just HAVE to hump the produce isle in Whole Foods).
But so what?
Its all “money” in the system.
Has nothing to do with votes in 2010.

The economists who are for the stimulus bill tell us the current recession is the worst since the Great Depression and a little extra government spending now will help the economy recover sooner than it would without the additional spending.

Now, you do a complete backflip and attempt to say it’s a necessary thing now that democrats are proposing to do it massivelly and excessively. It’s good because it’s your guys.
Be honest, Snippet. You have no closely held economic principles. You merely have situational ethics to justify your side.

So when the US economy was booming in the mid 1940s, mid 1960s, late 1980s, it was incredibly irresponsible of the democrat controlled congress proposing and legislating all of that massive (at that time) deficit spending?
Conversely, we can also thank the GOP controlled congresses of 1994 and 1996 for their fiscal responsibilty and deficit reductions as the economy grew robustly?

You seem to be sharing lamont-happy’s foul mood, Log.
Is it your special time of the month too, or is Democratic rule proving to be just too much for you?
Try to relax a little.
Have a little herbal tea, maybe.
Comment by happyfeet on 2/8 @ 6:26 pm #
We have a fine selection of teas in our little kitchen here cause that’s what NG got OG for Office Christmas. The mango one is supposed to be tropical and refreshing but I haven’t tried it yet. Right now I’m drinking “coffee” from the coffee single things you dip in hot water that we got the last time we ran out of coffee. Gack. This time it’s not NG’s fault we ran out it’s just they don’t overnight coffee anymore cause of there’s a recession.

Thor, the shutdown was over cutting spending. Which your oh-so-fiscally-responsible Clinton DID NOT WANT TO DO! It was also over increasing the federal debt, which President Clinton WANTED TO DO.
The GOP congress was holding out for more fiscal discipline.
My God, can you even read a book? Or do all facts get confused in your rum soaked brain?

I’m not sure about the doctor’s offices. That’s an expensive distribution model that I’d bet they’d drop if Time dropped their waiting room program. They may already have dropped it actually but I can’t look it up right now. I make a point not to ever read it so I set a good example for others.

What got slaughtered in the election was the future of my little country I think. It’s very sad. Comment by happyfeet on 2/8 @ 7:11 pm #

Comment by happyfeet on 2/8 @ 7:54 pm #
oh. I have been chastised. Um. Thinking… thinking more… um… No sale. Baracky and his dreams of his stupid drunk father that didn’t want anything to do with him is what started this dirty socialist misadventure. Comment by happyfeet on 2/8 @ 8:23 pm #
Hey now with the boiled pets. You don’t want to go down that road cause it doesn’t end well ever. Baracky and his media … their message is that they are going to spend a trillion dollars and not cause it’s gonna make anything better just that maybe things won’t get worse. They’re already downplaying this farce, tempering expectations. That’s cause they know it’s not designed to stimulate jack it’s just payola and filthy marxist wish fulfillment. That’s same as stealing and the precedent it sets … as the WaPo propaganda framed it this morning … is shocking not just in how facile it is but horrifying in what it reveals about how willing they are to squander national treasure to advance their sick and sad anemic dirty socialist worldview. And dirty socialist water carrier Mark Zandi is already making the case for Treasury Rape II.

Comment by Big D on 2/8 @ 9:16 pm #
I don’t think so, cynn. Like it or not, your side lowered the bar on civilized dissent. Even on PW you have posters from your side hurling insults at Sarah Palin and her children. I don’t like it much regardless of where it comes from, but there it is. Glass houses and all.

Easy there, Big D.
It’s not like the Dems tried to impeach Bush or anything drastic like that.
Comment by happyfeet on 2/8 @ 9:25 pm #
We can still agree to disagree, cynn. It’s really a rather causal hate if you want to know the truth. Sort of like how I hate John Corbett, you know? But I’m not gonna do that captain my captain nonsense. And I’m not going to pretend that very real people aren’t going to be grievously hurt by the diminished horizons that Baracky envisions for our little country. It’s heartbreaking, really. But you know what? It’s really not my problem. My values are what they always were and from day to day, that’s huge. Baracky? He’s really very very little. That’s why his media has to overcompensate to the hyperbolic extent that they do. Puny. I will endeavor to remind you of that on occasion I think.
Comment by happyfeet on 2/8 @ 9:26 pm #

Comment by happyfeet on 2/8 @ 10:37 pm #
I just think maybe… I might could be a little ahead of the curve on the invective, but that won’t last very long I don’t think. I wasn’t kidding during the campaign about what I thought Baracky was, and he hasn’t done anything at all to dissuade me from my view of him. The opposite, really. Baracky will bury us. It’s what he’s come to do.
Comment by cranky-d on 2/8 @ 10:40 pm #
I wanted to believe, after he was elected, that your invective during the campaign was slightly over the top. That was wishful thinking on my part. Our president is everything you said he is.

Comment by happyfeet on 2/8 @ 11:16 pm #
I’m tired. Here’s the deal I think. The number that’s gonna tell the stimulus story isn’t GDP. It’s productivity. That is the answer to the question what if lowering taxes increases the national debt.

Yeah, Log Cabin, I’m talking to you, econ-airhead.
Maybe you’d like to try it, Big D, what happens if you lower taxes and it relults in mammoth debt all while the underpinnings of the economy erode? As an example think of the Bushian economy.

I don’t blame happy-lamont, Big D.

But hey, what would they know about it?
Comment by parsnip on 2/9 @ 12:00 am #

Then you are spending too much fucking money, just like everyone here has been complaining about for the past eight years. Revenue has went up, tool, spending has went up even more. And now you idiots think the solution is to spend even more than that.
Comment by thor on 2/9 @ 12:12 am #
Yeah, Bmoe, we know that because of population growth and inflation and other factors that the GDP and the overall taxable wage and revenue base naturally rise. Thanks for that.
It’s a little more complicated than what you might think, given Bush’s total failure to comprehend and address wage stagflation and trade balances.
Comment by B Moe on 2/9 @ 12:19 am #
It’s a little more complicated than what you might think…
Actually it’s not, and your patronage is really starting to get old. Explain to me how raising corporate and income taxes is going to help the trade balance. Be sure to use Sarah Palin’s pussy and Larry Craig’s stance as metaphors, that always puts a spotlight on what a fucking genius you are.
Comment by Darleen on 2/9 @ 12:21 am #

yeah, let’s go there again ..
Comment by thor on 2/9 @ 12:32 am #
Depends on how you calculate unemployment, eh Darleen, but let’s keep it simple for fear of aggravating your confuddlement.
Tax rates don’t directly or easily correlate with trade balances, Bmoe. Do Germans and German companies pay often exorbitant German taxes? They seem to export products rather well. And the Danes have a export economy the last I checked.
Comment by Thomas Jackson on 2/9 @ 1:53 am #
Thor:
Indeed your comments betray an obvious lack of regard for the truth. Tax rates don’t relate to trade balances. Strange how nations with low tax rates are more propserous than say Zimbabwe or Sweden. But then again high tax rates are generally the reason that Western Europe has adopted tax evasion as its national sport as has the Obama cabinent.
Comment by thor on 2/9 @ 2:05 am #

Russia. Not more prosperous. Low personal income taxes.
Denmark. More prosperous. High personal income taxes.

I don’t. And I don’t give a fuck about European economies.
Why are we “losing jobs overseas”? Why are companies reincorporating in the Caribbean? Why is outsourcing a new buzzword?
Lowering taxes helps keep jobs in this country. Lowering taxes gives small business more money for raises and expansion. This ain’t the fifties, we ain’t Europe. People need to fucking grow up and adapt.
