More proof that the Islamo-fascists are only too willing to apparently turn a regional conflict of “nations” into a worldwide religious war…

People in the west, especially the left-wing head-in-the-sand crew, need to take notice of this. Regardless of the nature of the conflict, these Jihadists will always turn it into a religious war. And, in doing so provide themselves with justification for any behavior they feel is required as well as the reduction of their opponent a lesser form of human…

    By Whatever Means Necessary!

Sound Familiar? Kind of like the lefts entire scorched earth policy of political engagement?

So, regardless of how caring, empathetic, understanding, tolerant, or multi-cultural we are, these Muslims will always consider conflicts to be religious in nature. And even if only one side sees it as a religious war, then, well, that’s what it is-de facto…

Because there has never been aything analogous to the reformation in Muslim societies, religion and government are inextricably bound. Owing to this inconvenient truth, there will most likely continue to be struggles between western nations and their muslim sub-cultures. And, since they consider the government to be fundamentally corrupt, morally, unless it is theocratic in nature, their will always be a subversive element among these groups. Perhaps the democratization of nations like Iraq will lead to this much needed social phenomenon; who knows…

Europe needs to wise up to this fact before they all go the way of Great Britain. We need to wise up too, back up our friends and oppose our clear enemies.

    When they stole the bicycles,
    I remained silent;
    I was not a bicycle.

When they locked up the mopeds,
    I remained silent;
    I was not a moped.

When they took baseball bats to the delivery vans,
    I did not speak out;
I was not a delivery van.

When they burned all the cars,
    I remained silent;
    I was not a car.

    When they came for me,
there was no one left to drive away.

Is there a country in the world with a large Islamic population that is not plagued by violence against Jews? It is not like this is an anomoly.

Is there a country in the world with a large Islamic population that is not plagued by violence against Jews?

    Saudi Arabia?

I mean, they call for violence against Jews, but given the complete absence of them, I doubt there’s much actual violence against them.

The Breitbart link quotes one Ruvio:

“I told my employees [to] lie about where they come from, they should say there were from Spain or somewhere else. If people ask you where you are from, never say you’re from Israel,” he said.”

In the Summer of 1985 I was in Paris on an exchange program. Our group of eight American high-schoolers got into one of the Paris subway’s cars, grabbed an overhead loop, and readied ourselves for the jolting ride to another droll, crowded tourist destination.

A short dark-haired fellow approached and asked my professor where we were from. He replied, “America.” Less than one minute later, someone ignited a tear-gas canister inside the closed tram!

I remember it like it was yesterday. And, to this day, I cannot believe the “whatever” attitudes that the gendarmes and other riders displayed to this overt terrorist attack on American visitors to Paris. After some confusion among the passengers, all gasping vainly for breath, the train stopped at the next gate, and the riders piled out gasping onto the loading dock.

But, after the crowd regained its breath, all just resumed business as usual. It’s as if it was just another day in Paris. Noone detained the victims to inquire into the culprits. No efforts were made to deliver medical attention to the gasping elderly. No official delved into the possible motive for the attack. To recall this makes me sick.

Until the French clean up their acts, I’ll avoid their “city of lights” like the plague.

There is the stench of cowardice here, both from the Jihadists and those who give them rhetorical cover.

While it does take balls (if delusional) to strap an explosive vest and blow yourself up, the tactics are cowardly and the only reason they continue is the complete lack of concern for human life of the radicals and the further cowardice of those on the left (and Dr. Paul and Buchanan) who provide cover for these evil animals by either invoking isolationist self interest or some kind of double entry civilian casualty proportion formula.

Radical jihadists, by their very nature, refuse to engage the IDF or any other military force head on because, with very few exceptions, they get their balls handed to them on a shingle. Any organization that hides behind civilians, that deliberately fires rockets from civilian areas to random civilian areas and purposely stores weapons in civilian structures like schools and mosques is cowardly. Using civilian deaths as a propaganda tool under the above conditions is transcendent cowardice as is randomly targeting civilians to create the greatest number of civilian casualties as a tactic.

Anyone who defends Hamas or other radical’s rights to do the above because of some proportionality calculus is just as cowardly and wrongheaded to boot. Rather than wringing their hands and trying to see both sides they should be standing firm and declaring that there is no place in our civilized world for Radical Jihad and it’s evil must be purged through a policy of zero tolerance, period.

    Not your grandfathers BNP:

While Israel’s no-holds barred self-defence undoubtedly gives Islamist recruiters good material with which to radicalise some of their less motivated brethren, Israel’s extinction would provide them with even stronger arguments in favour of Jihad. The most elementary study of their rhetoric shows that they do not regard Israel as the great enemy, merely as the catspaw of Christendom. They may be right or they may be wrong, but that is what they believe; the destruction of Israel would therefore make them even bolder and more aggressive. Thus while we would oppose any move to entangle Britain in war on behalf of Israel, it is in our clear national interest that it should survive.

dre: Osama bin Laden is on video stating that the greatest recruitment time al qaeda ever had was in the months immediately after 9/11. Nothing recruits like success. That whole “we’re creating more terrorists by fighting back” was ill considered. As the surge began killing and capturing insurgents and terrorists in large numbers, recruitment world wide took a hit, as did both Osama’s and his organization’s reputation.

Good allah, it’s in the Quran. If your enemy is too strong, negotiate a peace until you can fight him, even if it requires ten years or more.

Here’s what Snippy didn’t include from the Andrew Sullivan post where he cadged the pic link:

One story the media isn’t telling, because it’s impossible to get this story in these circumstances (especially because Israel stupidly won’t allow foreign reporters into Gaza) is how much resentment the Hamas policy of using Palestinians as human shields causes among Gaza civilians. Early reports indicate that Hamas mortar teams were firing from the UN School. This shouldn’t surprise anyone.

One more thing, speaking of pornography — we’ve all seen endless pictures of dead Palestinian children now. It’s a terrible, ghastly, horrible thing, the deaths of children, and for the parents it doesn’t matter if they were killed by accident or by mistake. But ask yourselves this: Why are these pictures so omnipresent?

I’ll tell you why, again from firsthand, and repeated, experience: Hamas (and the Aksa Brigades, and Islamic Jihad, the whole bunch) prevents the burial, or even preparation of the bodies for burial, until the bodies are used as props in the Palestinian Passion Play. Once, in Khan Younis, I actually saw gunmen unwrap a shrouded body, carry it a hundred yards and position it atop a pile of rubble — and then wait a half-hour until photographers showed. It was one of the more horrible things I’ve seen in my life. And it’s typical of Hamas. If reporters would probe deeper, they’d learn the awful truth of Hamas. But Palestinian moral failings are not of great interest to many people.

I cite Jeffrey with the photograph above because a) the abuse of dead bodies by Hamas is another variant of their disgusting radicalism, b) Hamas does stage photographs, c) given their military inferiority, these photographs are also in some ways a weapon. The photograph was taken by Thair Hasani. Hasani is a Getty photographer and it is part of a series that certainly looks legit. But I cannot vouch for its authenticity, and I doubt that’s possible given the restrictions on reporting from Gaza. Nonetheless, this girl is dead and buried. She is a human being.

    “Modern era

After World War I Hama was made part of the French Levant States League of Nations mandate, and in 1941 it became part of independent Syria.

Political insurgency by Islamic groups, particularly the Muslim Brotherhood beginning in the early 1980s culminated in an uprising in February, 1982. Government forces led by the president’s brother, Rifaat al-Assad, quelled the revolt, but killed thousands of civilians and destroyed much of the old part of the city in the process. The town was shelled by the Syrian military, and the estimated deaths numbered more than 20,000 and may have been as high as 30,000 or 40,000, a big portion of them were women and children. The story is suppressed in Syria.”

The IDF didn’t target two schools full of children. They targeted two schools which, according to the AP yesterday, were full of “civilians and refugees seeking shelter” who happened to be firing RPGs and shooting weapons at the Israeli troops. Fair game, parsnip, not collateral damage.

Fair game, parsnip, not collateral damage.

By firing weapons from those schools, Hamas made them legitimate targets. The primary — arguably, the sole — enforcement of the laws of war is reciprocity. If you’re expecting your opponent to abide by the laws of war, then you cannot use that expectation in order to gain an advantage (look up “perfidy” in the context of the laws of war). Whenever Hamas uses a protected place as a firing point, they’ve removed the protection from that location, and they are responsible for any noncombatant casualties that result.

Curious that someone who whined that Israelis are “afraid” to fight up-close with the Hamas thugs sees no problem with those thugs attempting to hide behind women and children.

In a possible sign of the IDF stepping up its operations against weapons smuggling tunnels along the Philadelphi Corridor, the army on Wednesday evening dropped flyers on Rafah urging residents of the town living near the corridor to leave their homes by 8 p.m

“Because Hamas uses your houses to hide and smuggle military weapons, the IDF will attack the area, between the Egyptian border until the beach road,” the leaflet said, according a local UN official.

Wasn’t meant to be funny. Simply an observation that if we’re really trying to hide in a cocoon, we’re doing a rather crappy job of it by letting you and your fellow travelers lounge about and throw bombs. I’ve worked on plenty of Wordpress blogs, and requiring registration to comment is easy enough. It’s an interesting choice on Jeff’s part. Could be he doesn’t think you worth the trouble, could be he thinks your foul mouth and surly disposition are such an incredible turn-off to the casual viewer that it’s worth having you around for the object lesson. Surely you don’t think you’re such an uber 1337 haxz0r that Jeff can’t keep you away? Heh.

Regardless, don’t let that stop you from “speaking truth to power” or whatever it is you think you’re doing, oh brave Internets warrior. Continue your endless onslaught of “REDUMBLICANS ARE DUMB AND HAVE SEX WITH .” It’s a tactic that’s worked well for you in the past, and I’m sure it will serve to advance your agenda in the future. Win hearts – change minds. Calling your ideological opponents “teh gay” or accusing them of being pedophiles generally does that quite well, after all – speaks to the finely crafted nature of your arguments. ;)

Later thor. Always fun sparring with you, even if you’re far more clever with a turn of phrase than I am.

Used to be a time when arguments where around the issue. But Thor and Parsnip are not interested in debating than they are in being vulgar and base. I found myself being drawn into vulgarity and low brow name calling. Frankly, I’m tired of it. its a waste of time. Scrolling past thor’s comments is a waste of time.

I agree, these guys are just using any topic as an opportunity to elbow their way into center stage and make the adults angry. As I said before, people with mental health problems are unusually good at pushing other people’s anger buttons. As hard as it is, the best way to deal with them is to ignore them. They have increasingly less to say each time they appear.

    No protests, no attacks.

It’s amazing how peaceful things are when all sides are well aware that this kind of bullshit here would be met by instant and overwhelming armed response, since lots of Texans carry concealed, and Texas laws allow defense of self, others, and property, without even giving the attackers or their friends and relatives the ability to sue.

Because thor is a cowardly little shitstain who’ll do anything for attention.

Go on, thor. Post as me a few times.

Make a pathetic play for the attention that you know you don’t deserve, and that you can’t get posting as yourself.

In the end, Mr. Pink and I will still be men, and you’ll still be a cowardly little shitstain hiding behind your keyboard.

Reminder to all: this is thor.

Did it ever occur to you that Jeff might not be the complete knuckle-dragging spoon-bender of your redumblican machinations?

Did it ever occur to you that if you are indeed appreciative of Jeff you might show it by not trying to destroy his site? That you might show a bit more respect for what he has built?

Or even the basic rules that he’s laid down, such as choosing one name and sticking to it.

Does getting attention with a stolen name make you feel like a Big Man, thor?

Hint: the rest of us have no trouble getting others to read our posts, even if we disagree with them. Case in point: B Moe and I got into a rather nasty pissing contest a while back, but (as far as I know) neither of us ever considered TrollHammering the other.

My math may be rusty but 1/300th scale would be about 1/5th of an inch tall. 1/30th perhaps.

A hair over 6mm tall. Theoretically 6mm from the bottom of their feet to their eyes. So, about a quarter inch.

Needed new brushes — and may need new eyes before I’m done. It doesn’t help that I can see details on them that I couldn’t possibly paint.

That’s amazing and impressive. Best wishes on your project, your eyes are younger than mine and your hands steadier.

Taste of Galilee, worth the trip

oh, I know where that is! never been there, though.

Well, geoffb, I admit I’m ignoring quite a few of the details on them. I can see belts, buckles, and beards on them, but I’m not trying to paint all that. My goal is for someone to see them at the distance of four or five feet and say “wow, look at all the little soldiers!”

I’m honestly quite amazed at the sculptor. The guy who made them must have the patience of a saint.

And in the end your manly drool will totally fill Mr. Pink’s manly ass crack. You Craigians, uhhh.

If you use my name then I’ll use yours no matter your psychotic episodes and tantrums. That’s how that works.

I’ve never “used your name”, thor.

I edited your posts a few times over on the Pub when you insisted on posting in my threads after being asked to leave, but to the best of my recollection, I’ve never posted as you here in the main site.

Why the fuck would I want to post as you?

    a) I don’t need to keep changing my name to get people to read my stuff.
    b) If I did use someone’s name other than my own, it sure as fuck wouldn’t be yours.

Along with all your other psychological problems, shitstain, you’re paranoid.

You seem to think that I’m as obsessed with you as you are as me.

To be as gentle as possible: that’s not actually the case.

Now, back in the trollbin you go.

I admire you’re patience. I can’t tie a fly any smaller than a #20, even with a lot of light and a huge magnifying glass.
Are you doing dioramas of battles?

Just about to read the posts on this thread guys; before I do I have to report that Melanie Phillips is almost a lone voice in the UK media when it comes to rational analysis of the Middle East. Please vote for her on the current ‘best blog’ vote that is in progress: http://2008.weblogawards.org/polls/best-uk-blog/

The poll itself is trivia I know, compared to the issues she covers, but she needs support and this is one way of garnering a little more. She’s indefatigable. Thanks. And thank you too for giving her so much of a hearing on this blog, it has proved good for her blog which now has many more American commenters now.
