Lots of people have mentioned this amazing story (BJTexas, for example, who emailed it to me), but I think Mike Hendrix says it best.

Wow…
What an act of forgiveness and trust, both in the pilot and in God’s will…
I’m choked up and speechless…

Intensely moving. I couldn’t watch Mr. Yoon’s entire press conference, getting about half way through.

There’s a tear in my eye after reading that. Not only for the unbelievably terrible loss that gentleman has sustained, but also for the unbelievable act of compassion and forgiveness by him. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and I fervently hope he finds peace. God bless him.

That is sad and horrible. Bush should call him but I don’t need to know about it after. This sucks cause it’s hard for anyone official to do anything cause of lawyers.

A thousand personal injury lawyers just went, “What the fuck????”.

There’d be no need for all of those ambulance chasers if more people had Mr. Yoon’s strength, compassion, humility, and ability to forgive someone else for what was truly an accident; and trust that the other person did all they could to avoid it…
I’m not advocating forgiveness in cases of willful or criminal negligence or malpractice…
I’m just sayin’…
God bless Mr. Yoon, and grace him with strength and courage in his hours of need…

I’m speechless and humbled. A heart that big must be in dire pain. May God hold his poor family in His hand and give Mr. Yoon comfort that they are in paradise.

I know that area of San Diego and my husband having grown up in SD spent many a time watching jets take off land at Miramar … when I heard of the crash and the homes on fire I prayed for one and all caught in the tragedy.
Mr. Yoon is extraordinary and a man of quiet, simple strength. He is lucky to have the love and support of a strong Christian community around him (anyone with any knowledge of the Korean Christian community in So. Cal knows this).
For those that dismiss religion and faith, you have just witnessed the grace that a belief and love in God provides.
