I hate to beat a dead horse but one wonders if the gays and the glitterati will be picketing black churches and announcing public boycotts of black businesses.
I thought not. The Maxi Overlapping Multi-Phasic Shield of !RACISM! is impenetrable.
Prop 8 won because blacks, who voted 96% for Obama, voted 70% in favor. They made the key difference. I’m quite sure that the gay activists do not have the stones to take on the entrenched African American position ion an activist way, although it would be highly entertaining to see them do so as they are doing to Mormon churches.
So the gay activists will pursue the entirely racist strategy of targeting whites, especially those from churches and involved in the arts.

Hollywood is increasingly irrelevant anyway. Mind you, it will be a while. but it’s rapidly becoming the new “buggy whip industry.”
And WTF is a “political advisor to Hollywood?” Is that like a Soviet “political officer” who makes sure that military units observe politically correct behavior?

Discrimination doesn’t mean what that fellow thinks it means.
Telling the difference between unlike things and using that observed difference to make judgements is not always capricous or arbitrary, let alone illegal. Race discrimination is illegal, but discrimination between ugly and beautiful, thin and fat, stupid and smart, educated and uneducated, violent and non-violent….there are discrimination we all make that are normal or even necessary and not improper in the least.
Gay “marriage” is not like heterosexual marriage in one key way, and that one key way is the whole reason for marriage in the first place. Homosexual sexual behaviour NEVER naturally produces children. All those cases where sexual activity makes new people are limited to heterosexual relationships.
The contract between men, women, and the state creating a special legal status for couples who marry, incentivizes constraint of sexual behaviour that makes new people, providing protection for women and women, orderly transfer of wealth and stable family units to raise and provide for any children created in the union.
One of these things is not like the other, tell me, can you tell which one?

I wonder why they picked Mormons to threaten when the majority of the people in the state voted for this? Could it be because they are a minority, white, and religious? I guess they just want to make an example out of people that do not toe the line.

Mormons are less than 2% of the CA population (I looked it up the other day.) More blacks, in raw numbers,voted against it than Mormons.

The Mormon Church is the target because, unlike the various black churches, they are not supportive of the overall socialist agenda of the Left. Attacking the LDS is “safe” politically.
It is also a deniable proxy attack on black churches. To let them know that there can be prices for leaving the reservation. A hint of “we know where the bodies are buried” so…

Yeah and they’re not gonna fuck with the Beaners, either. White Christians and Mormons are safe to attack because they can’t throw the bigotry claim back in your face and they won’t tear you from limb to limb. Aside from that, militant gays don’t have the balls to get into Clash of the Identity Politics.
They’ve seen the numbers that Mexicans turn out for protests. They don’t want to see blacks doing it and they know there’s no love for them lost with either group.

Oh, noes! I can’t marry my boyfriend anymore, even though we live in a state that has legal domestic partnership and our inheritance rights are protected contractually! It’s horrible. Must be those darn Mormons that have never, ever been anything but nice and polite and friendly to my face even when disagreeing with my views. I think I shall go out and stomp my feet and rant and rave about how California is no different than the Third Reich!
But criticize my black friends (who statistically probably voted for prop 8)? What, do you think I am crazy?

The Mormons are a convenient target for the gay activists in Kah-lee-forn-ya, much like the Joooooooos! were for the Nazi’s in 1030’s Germany…
You see, they conveniently represent the social-con, religious, right; and their relatively high profile public support of prop 8 makes them a key group for retribution…
Think of the coming hair pulling and hand wringing this way; a seemingly endless night of the long stilettos (heels that is!)…
But seriously, I agree with BJT and many of the other commenters; where are all of the protests at the black, muslim, and black muslim places of worship..?
We can give up on the hypocrisy watch though. About a week ago I got into a back and forth commentary on another thread about prop 8. The commenter spoke breathlessly about favoring a soon-to-come public witch hunt for all those whose name were listed as supporting prop 8 on the activist’s group website in favor of the ban. I called him out for being both a coward, hypocrite, pink thug, and for acting like cliche sissy fags, by mostly targeted peace-nik religious folks, known for turning the other cheek, the elderly, and for generally descending on individuals in a lynch mob fashion…
His dodging reply was that it was simply inefficient to go after the folks that overwhelmingly voted for the ban; seems like simply more inconvenient to me. He maintained, through several commentary volleys, that the real hate mongers were those activists that sponsored the TV commercials and websites, and by extension all who funded them. Try as I might to convince him, he could never see the hypocrisy, cowardice, nor flawed nature of this logic…
We all know the real reason that they aren’t going after the blacks and muslims on this; they fear both the ass-whuppin’s and race card plays in the MSM that would trump their identity group status. And, they’re trying to equate the gay rights struggle to the civil rights struggle of the 60’s. But, to argue this fact in the public square would either reveal the underlying fundamental hypocrisy of the tolerant! left, and fallacious, divisive, nature of both identity politics and moral relativism, or showcase how minority groups, like the gays, hope to mau-mau the flak catchers; intimidating the court into going against the will of the people as exercised at the polling place…
The forces of Outrage! are hoping this public ferocity will cause the court to act rapidly; they know that a protracted witch hunt cannot work in their favor. All I can say is we must simply remember this event, and the justifications being put forth for it; to throw back in the face of the left next time they are talking about bein’ intimidated by the Man!, speaking troof! to power, respecting the will of the people!, and issues of fairness…

The left consists of a number of “interest groups”. In each group the rank-and-file have the belief, which may or may not accord with any reality, that what they see as their group’s problems with the rest of the world, can only be solved through action by the Government.
The “leaders” of the various groups have a different view. They “know” that their rank, position, their power in the world, depends entirely on their ability to deliver their rank-and-file’s votes for the Democrats and issues supported by Democrats.
This fight, proxy fight, is not, and will not be if the leaders have any influence, between the rank-and-file of the Gay and African-American interest groups. That would be the fight that could bring down the temple of the left. This is the leaders of one group, gay, telling the leaders of another, black, that if they can’t control their members then they are replaceable.
As in any “mob” style organization, to be a leader means to “make your bones” and that is also the thing the organization can hold over you forever. Every leader on the left has bodies buried and all the leaders know it.
This is a fight that is being taken up to the ruling council, perhaps central committee might be the more appropriate term. They are not happy with it being placed in their laps.

Had this conversation with a friend the other day. Pretty sure I’m glad it was on the phone, because the carpet muncher would have liked to kill me.
All I said was “you folks have Civil Unions. Us Breeders have marriage. They’re the same really, with the same rights to hospitals, insurance etc. What’s the problem?” That’s ALL I said.
She screeched something unintelligible, threatened me with harassment(?) and hung up….haven’t talked to her since then. Thing is? we live in MA. which is about as far removed from prop 88 as you can get.
