Deport the criminals first* [Darleen Click]

Gotta love this

DEVORE – More than two dozen illegal immigrants got an unpleasant surprise when they showed up to pay their debt to society.

Instead of doing community service, the Mexican and Guatemalan nationals ended up being handcuffed and taken into custody by federal immigration agents.

Most have been sent to their home countries or are in the process of being deported.

The 32 men arrested Saturday morning at the Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center were participating in a county work release program as an alternative to serving time in jail.

Cue the usual whining:

Immigrant-rights (sic) advocates say they are disturbed by enforcement actions that target low-risk, nonviolent offenders.

“One of the concerns with the current implementation of the agreement is they said it would be for hard-core criminals and felons,” said Emilio Amaya, executive director of the San Bernardino Community Service Center, a nonprofit that helps people going through the deportation process. “Most of the people are being detained for misdemeanors.”

Because, as we all know, illegals convicted of DUI’s never do it again and never kill anyone while under the influence. Because, as we all know, illegals selling street drugs never kill anyone.

We should just, you know, ignore all the misdemeanors until every convicted felon is caught and deported.

No, we should ignore both the misdemeanors and felons until each illegal criminal is caught and convicted. Because it is sooooo unfair that the mere petty-criminal illegal gets deported first. Unfair! Unfair!

Yeah, that’s the ticket.

    - Hey, the Left just lost 32 good votes. You think they’re going to be happy about that.

    - Oh wait. Theres always absentee ballots. Silly me.

    - Speaking of votes, wonder how many German nationals the Dems will register for the fall Prez. election.

    Darleen,

    As usual, great post.

I may have said this before, but “Ahh luvv yoooo!”

Maybe someday you and your husband (I think) and I can get together. Your sense of humor (and irony) is unchallenged, as far as I can tell. And i love to laugh. A rare thing lately, but we have to deal with what we have to deal with…

I have to say that PW is one of the two things that keep me sane (sorta).

Your posts are always a treat!

    Thanks.

And I guess I should say that I have nothing against immigrants (legal or illegal), but, hey! Shut down the friggin’ border! As contractor in the building trade, my wages have ben cut about in half in the last ten years.

Yup! They don’r hurt Americans, do they? They do jobs that “Americans won’t do”?

BULLSHIT! They do jobs that Americans can’t afford to do for $5 an hour.

I know very few immigrants who I don’t like, and who don’t work their butts off, but I can’t live in a hornet’s nest with thirty people in a three bedroom house, and pay no taxes or social security.

If they pick lettuce, I don’t care, and if they are already here, fine with me.

BUT SHUT DOWN THE FUCKING BORDERS AND STOP GIVING ILLEGALS A BETTER DEAL ON HEALTH CARE, EDUCATION, AND WELFARE than I could ever get for my own AMERICAN child.

Sorry, all. Sometimes I just get way pissed at the assholes who “control” our government. They are as stupid as a bag of hammers, and only care about buying votes by picking our pockets. Read about Gore and Clinton’s drive to register 1,000,000 aliens as citizens. It will make your blood boil.

Just thinking “Nancy Pelosi” makes steam come out of my ears.

    AAAAAARRRRGHHH!!!!!!

I’m glad that smoking marijuana is more likely to get you deported than, oh say blowing up a civilian airliner or running a death squad. I suppose being a former CIA asset has its benefits.

The CIA is kinda gay and anti-American I think.

Off topic: Protein Wisdom will be moving to a new (faster and more stable) server today. I’ll be doing it in the middle of the night (for most readers – middle of the afternoon for me!) The whole process should take less than an hour.

I’ve had the pleasure of their company, and they are truly delightful people.

Darleen, was that Yankee Doodles (or Dave & Busters) in Santa Monica? I can’t recall exactly.

  13. Comment by Joel on 8/2 @ 9:16 pm #

The only problem I can see with this is a practical one: Offering a chance to come clean should be done in such a way that the next wave of petty criminals will want to surrender themselves as well. Nothing gets noised around among immigrants like a Migra trap. If they get too draconian (and deporting those who sow up may be, from that perspective), then it’s a one-time success and they’ll have a hard time getting anyone to show up the next time.

Outside of that, good riddance. I’m not as hard on illegals as maybe a good conservative should be, as some of the ones I’ve known are a better asset to the community than their citizen neighbors. However, those folks also tend to keep a low profile and aren’t out committing crimes. If a man’s only crime is crossing the border without the formalities, then live and let live. But if he acts like a yahoo while he’s here, then let’s send his sorry ass back to Michoacan.

Unfortunately, Joel, I not only live in the IE but have had 10 years in the DA department and I have a daughter that ran as a paramedic in the areas of the IE where illegals were prevalent (and now works as an RN at a regional trauma/med center), even so-called ‘law abiding’ illegals are an unacceptable burden on the community.

  16. Comment by Jeff Y. on 8/2 @ 10:50 pm #

I’m still surprised by people that oppose the simple notion that the law means something, that it ought to be followed, that bad laws should be altered or abolished by the legislative process. Proponents and “softies” on illegal immigration seem to discount at least one of those propositions.

In short, I’m still surprised by people who are soft on illegal immigration and thereby undermine orderly liberty in favor of license. The dire consequences are obvious.

  17. Comment by JPP on 8/3 @ 6:47 am #

Nothing will change until we show Mexico that we’re serious about enforcing the border and our interior laws. They have felt for 20 years now that we weren’t serious, therefore they feel that they have special permission to violate out laws. Identity theft, social security fraud, income tax evasion, driving without a license/insurance, etc.

  18. Comment by McGehee on 8/3 @ 7:28 am #

    The dire consequences are obvious.

And yet they don’t know or don’t care.

    Or don’t mind…

    Spiny Norman,

Oh sheesh, I don’t think it was Dave&Busters.

Damn, it’s been way too long. We need to get some of the westcoast PW community together some Saturday.

    AJB, when you base your information on selectively constructed Wikipedia entries;
don’t show up here. More likely the person involved, as indicated in this deposition
has been dead since 1982 href

  21. Comment by The Lost Dog on 8/3 @ 1:23 pm #

    Darleen,

Why should we target these poor unfortunates, when we can so easily target the real criminals – white people!

  22. Comment by Mikey NTH on 8/3 @ 1:26 pm #

AJB’s comment reminds me of some arguments against the ‘three strikes and you’re out’ laws. If felons knew the third conviction would mean serious jail time (so the argument went) they would make sure there were no survivors/witnesses of their crimes.

A short bout of thinking should come up with the response to that.*

*For those who have trouble thinking – so who is in charge then, the criminals or the law-abiding society? The law-abiding have to trim their sails to accomodate the criminals? So they want to add premeditated murder to robbery? Maybe they should be jailed good and hard after the first offense then?

When you bend your society to accomodate criminals, you encourage more crime. And do not be surprised if you get more of what you reward.

    Spiny Norman,

I would be delighted to meet almost anyone here. The intelligence and humor are both way above the curve.

Once I finish climbing my mountain, I will probably actively search out some PW people. I just can’t do it right now.

This place is amazing, and I sometimes feel like part of a family that could be photographed for a Christmas card, and not go back to tearing each other’s guts out as soon as the photographer left.

  25. Comment by Off Colfax on 8/3 @ 11:22 pm #

Here’s a little gem I’m surprised no one has caught.

One of the concerns with the current implementation of the agreement is they said it would be for hard-core criminals and felons,

Title 8, Sec. 1325 states that repeated illegal entry into the United States is a felony. Therefore, the “implementation of the agreement” is still valid so long as they were previously caught attempting to enter the US.

Put that one in your burrito and chow down.

The saddest part is how deeply some drink the Kool-Aid…

Recently in the region we had an illegal — doped to the gills and speeding — get shot whilst in the process of ramming a police car in order of effect an escape. The screaming meemies are out in force, pandering to the “fiancee” (it is reported he is married in his native Brazil) who is wailing that the only reason he was shot was b/c he’s an illegal alien.
