Maverick met with the Dalai Lama in Aspen [Karl]

Per the Aspen Times:

U.S. Sen. John McCain paused in his ongoing run for the presidency on Friday to trade a few pleasantries in Aspen with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and to urge China to release Tibetan political prisoners and improve its record in human rights.

The Dalai Lama — twelfth son of the Lama — looked graceful and striking in his traditional, flowing robes.

A reporter asked McCain whether he had obtained an endorsement from the Lama.  McCain responded that Lama, as an apolitical religious leader, was officially neutral with regard to the US presidential campaign: ”The Lama told me there won’t be any endorsement, but when I die, on my deathbed, I will receive total consciousness. So I got that goin’ for me… which is nice.”

Total consciousness? So he’ll be able to vote after death, just like a Democrat?

    Hmmmph.

I think SondraK asked the right question…”Is he trying to lose the election?”

Compare and contrast the coverage if Baracky had met with the Llama.

    serr, #2.
    You are completely correct.
McCain is a fall guy, just like Dole.
The talented , capable enthusiastic republicans or conservatives are not running this year.
2008 is a bad republican year to put a promising carrier in the jeopardy. I fully expect tremendously better candidates from the GOP to run in 2012

Am I missing something here? Why is a meeting between McCain and the Dalai Lama prompting all of this negative energy from you guys? I mean, like, whoa! Seriously, though, what’s the problem?

Yeah, well played, there, Lenny Bruce. So, again, what’s McCain doing wrong?

I hope Senator McCain shows the good sense to boycott the Olympics.

    Number 7…

Look at the picture at my link on 2. Realize that Senator Obama has just had massive press coverage for, what, weeks on end.

Can’t there be some more better outlet for John McCain’s public appearances than to be seen talking to and holding hands with a guy in a dress?

  13. Comment by Barrett Brown on 7/26 @ 8:34 am #

So? Bush holds hands with guys in dresses all the time. Saudi Islamofascists dictators, no less. And he won two presidential elections. Cheer up.

    Seriously, though, what’s the problem?

It is not our fault, the Kool-Aid shipments have been late the past couple months.
