‘Cuz, like, they’re really easy to scare, cuz like, they’re OLD.’ [Darleen Click]

Kerry Howley of Reason (!!???) doing her 2008 version of Valley Grrrrl speak on why we even bother to allow icky seniors to vote. After all, Kerry sniffs, seniors get a social security check and are therefore “not tied to the economy”. And they “care about their neighborhoods” [she says it like it is a bad trait ...] and maybe seniors are[sshhh!] rraaaccciiissstt!

Scruffy Will Wilkinson of the Cato Institute grins through the exchange and kinda wonders why old farts just don’t die and get out of his way.

Lordy, if these children are representative the ones who are supposed to run this country, Parents Wilkinson and Howley have a lot to answer for.

Damn. Just. Damn.

    Nails on a chalkboard, dude.

I tried, I did, but I couldn’t make it past 2:13, right about the time she says, “And they scare easily because, like, they’re old.”

WTF does drawing SS have to do with not being tied to the economy? Does she honestly think that the folks who are moving from Iowa to purchase retirement homes are doing so on a SS only income? Even then, aren’t those seniors “tied to the economy” by virtue of the nature that they, more likely than the yungins such as this ditz, pay property taxes?

I understand that my daughter never knew and therefore isn’t terribly interested (sad, but true) in the lives of my great-grandparents, but she damn sure knows the lives of her grand-parents and doesn’t regard them as disposable because they are living on fixed incomes.

Perhaps, somewhere in the final two unwatched minutes of the vid, she redeems herself and, if so, it doesn’t make any difference to me. NOTE for the yungins, when making a speech, or taking to the soapbox, be certain not to alienate your audience at less than halfway through your script.

Like, this chick is sooo, like, clueless.

and Democrats never try to scare Seniors by telling them the Republicans will take away their SS income.

I’d really like to see Howley, Wilkinson, and their whole mindset completely discredited, but posts like this aren’t going to do it. This post would need to provide longer quotes from the video and discuss why they’re wrong, and it would need to point out that one way to discredit people like that is to actually take things to their court.

In the current case, their courts include:
    bloggingheads.tv/diavlogs/12357
    willwilkinson.net/flybottle
    reason.com/blog

Suggest that people go there and point out any lies or make a misleading statements they see.

And, after you do that, what do you get? A page just like this:

    reason.wikia.com/wiki/Lonewacko

I could easily do what you propose. I might in the future. But I listened to that snippet of twaddle with such incredulity I just couldn’t extricate myself from my contempt enough to give it any serious consideration.

I’ve left a comment on Willie’s ‘flybottle’ along the lines that his cute little co-schtupper missed a couple of logic lessons where she posits that people who immigrate to the USA from another county and keep their culture are GOOD but intra-state immigrants who want to recreate their culture (“warm Iowa”) are BAD.

I must apologize in advance to all the ladies who are here.

I hardly ever use this word, but some people really can’t be described in any other way.

What a stupefyingly stupid little cunt.

I agree with that completely. No one who takes more from the government than they pay in should be allowed to vote. You gotta pay to play.

“Why can’t they just defeat Hitler and Tojo and go toe to toe with Stalin and Khrushchev and then just, like, die?”

I sensed some sexual tension between these two – not the kind that could end up in even awkward coetus, just the guy likes girl and girl likes attention kind.

Also, what the woman calls “Iowa” is what used to be called “America.”

For real though it takes you people on this blog a lot to remind me that baby boomers aren’t a monolithic block of evil, but Baracky and his cohort are helping the Boomer image a lot too I think. The devil you know and all that.

Man, I am so thankful I am not under 30 and stuck in college because by the time the pasty snots realize they are the minority of minorities they’ll be wondering why they were stuck on stupid for their entire lives.

What these pasty snots don’t understand us that the ‘hope I die before I get old’ babyboomers grew old and decided they wanted to live forever. Heh.

Sometimes I think about voting 0! just so the pasty snots will have to pay for all of 0! misery BUT, I love the troops too much to give a shit about pasty college snots who don’t know a fucking thing about the world.

“Not connected to the economy” is the dumbest statement I’ve read today. But it’s still early.

The notion that people living on a fixed income are unaware of what’s going on with the economy, and aren’t actually hooked into the economy, is so silly that it’s unworthy of eviscerating.

Kerry…not very bright: Old people move to Arizona and don’t want to adapt culturally equals racism. Question, when Hispanics move to Arizona and the USA in general and don’t want to adapt culturally, are they being racist?

I find her sophomoric thinking to be disturbing and fully rooted in the ‘f-whitey, they are a bunch of bastards anyhow.’

“Elderly…Not tied to the economy” : In the same way that the Dem voting welfare class isn’t?
“They’re all invested in the quality of their neighborhood..”: I caught the scare quotes.. Is there something bad in that?
“They’re easily scared cuz they’re, like, ‘old’..”: True.. The elderly do seem to have irrational fears of the crime that
accompanies a huge illegal alien population.. Street crime.. Drunk drivers.. Cross border assassination squads.. Home invasions…Gang violence.. Silly old people..

There’s just too much to mock in this… Are you sure this isn’t a put on? The dude with the spectacles could be
ProgZero and the chick, Nishi (Though in all fairness Nishi seems far more intelligent)

These self absorbed twits are what is wrong with the GenX’ers.. Not what’s good… Enough book learning to stand up on their hind legs and form sentences like men (women).. But not enough experience to understand or responsibly use what they ‘learned’ in those books.

I hope they keep a copy of this video so they can reflect on it when they’re 50′ish..

    From Willie’s bio page

I live in the historic LeDroit Park neighborhood of Washington, DC. I enjoy poetry, drawing, singing, dancing, public speaking, traveling, literature, movie and museum-going, and vigorous exercise. I spend most of my free time with my partner, Kerry Howley.

Isn’t that cute? Schtupping with minimal commitment. Just what two philosophy majors would settle on…

What gets me is that Howley is a senior editor at Reason. My mind wheels at that.

  33. Comment by Ouroboros on 7/2 @ 10:08 am #

Darleen: I just shake my head but it doesn’t really surprise me.. She’s attractive, assertive.. speaks reasonably well.. I’m sure in politicking for the position she sold her self well (no snide implication intended).. ReasonOnline refers to itself as ‘Libertarian” but in fact looks pretty Proggy to my eye… To the management at Reason, her peers, underlings and readership.. and others of her proggy ilk.. I’m sure she sounds completely reasonable…

I agree with that completely. No one who takes more from the government than they pay in should be allowed to vote. You gotta pay to play.

I agree with Moe and by proxy, Howley, on that, but not as completely.

The problem with Howley is, how is she the one to advocate this? This morning on Red Eye she revealed she’s moving to Iowa because she’s enrolled full time towards an MFA in Creative Non Fiction Writing program.

Unless she already wrote the full check herself, I’d bet against her filing a 1040 not of the EZ type for at least the year 2008.
Full disclosure of all Financial Aid paperwork would have been the prologue to this soapbox.

  38. Comment by BuddyPC on 7/2 @ 12:02 pm #

I meant to say, “Unless she already wrote the full check herself, I’d bet against her filing a 1040 not of the EZ type for at least the year 2008, which would put the kibosh on her own vote this November.”
