The Church of Anthropogenic Global Warming scores another win
Even with the skies overcast and threatening rain, Khang Nguyen, 18, and Joel Juan, 19, kicked back after school at Alki Beach.
“It’s just a relaxing way to hang out with friends,” Nguyen said of the bonfire crackling in front of them one evening earlier this week.
But Seattle Parks and Recreation might do what even this week’s chilly weather couldn’t — douse the long tradition of beach bonfires at Alki and at Golden Gardens.
Park department staff is recommending reducing bonfires at the two beaches this summer and possibly banning them altogether next year.
The park board will hear the recommendation Thursday, and the city plans to run public-service announcements and hand out brochures later this month about the effects of bonfires on global warming.
I guess it’s going to be microwaved s’mores from now on.
Until Barry tells us they make baby Euros cry.

They should stop people from pissing in the ocean, too. Keep the water from raising any more.

This is what the founders had in mind. Otherwise they would have given us a king.

Response from The Corner:
An entertaining story, … and yet another example of how certain aspects of environmentalism are, in some ways, taking on the characteristics of a religion. You can read the banning of the beach bonfires both as ritual sacrifice and as no less ritual renunciation of pleasure. The whole thing is, in all likelihood, futile, but it generates a comfortably shared illusion that ’something’ is being done, as well, of course, as providing an excellent opportunity for those in charge to demonstrate their moral superiority and for those beneath them to be bossed about. In its own remarkably petty way, it’s perfect.

Insane moronic assholes are on the ascendency. Like a friggin’ rocket.
In my town, you are not allowed to have an outdoor fire without a permit. UNLESS you are having a party. Then it’s perfectly OK to burn thirty or fourty cords of wood. Just don’t try burning any trash without enough people around to claim a “party”…
Wood stoves are OK, cows are OK, cars are OK, but DON’T YOU DARE LIGHT AN OUTSIDE FIRE ON YOUR PROPERTY! If you do, the FD will arrive at your house in a diesel fume belching monster fire truck (which probably spews more pollution in two minutes than your bonfire could in two weeks), and shut your stupid, selfish, polluting fucking ass down. And give you a $100 ticket – to pay for the fuel that they used to come to your house.
This “All green, all the time” crap is really starting to annoy me. How do you debate people who are too lazy and stupid to have any clue about facts? “But I FEEL…”
And now we have “THE GREEN CHANNEL”! OMG! How caring! I would never disrespect the environment, but I will disrepect anything that approaches Ted Turners “Earth Rangers”, or whatever the fuck they are called. And, to me, the Green Channel is nothing more than an extension of Turner’s absolute idiocy. Just when was it that corporations became evil?
Was it when we had enough illiterates that think sitting on their asses is just as noble as being responsible for your “own self”? Which, BTW, Michelle embraces the former with fervor. I can’t believe how many Americans I have seen that spend their whole day trying to avoid doing ANYTHING that their job requires. As far as I can tell, it takes much less effort to do your frickin’ job than it does to constantly try to figure out ways to weasel out of it. And time just about stops when you think that not working is better than working.
Oops! Getting off track here, so back to “Greenies – or “Weenies”, as the case may be.
No one has yet answered my challenge to show me any solid evidence (other than the laughable “climate models”) that we could even POSSIBLY affect the climate. That’s probably because THERE ISN’T ANY!
DOH!
And our representatives are ready to destroy our economy for what paid shills are telling them – an absolute hoax. I would like to volunteer that they don’t need this bill, because they are already well on their way to crushing any prosperity this country might be pointed at in the future.
Ethanol boondoggle? Check.
More than 35 G’ment mandated “Designer fuels”? Check.
No drilling anywhere in US territories(only a slight exageration)? Check.
No new refineries? Check.
Distortion of the food markets with ethanol mandates? Check.
Screaming at the oil companies when the G’ment makes up to 8 times as much on a gallon of gas as the oil companies do – without lifting a finger? Check
And now we are supposed to spread our assholes REALLY wide and accept “cap and trade” as the “right thing to do?”
Who do our representatives think they are?
Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! I know! I know! They are our BETTERS! And could give a shit how much pain they cause the common man to suffer, because they are so much fucking smarter than we are!
“Houston. We have a problem here”.

You know, after thinking about it, and digesting RiverC and Socrates all in one day, I think I could have made that post much simpler.
Our representatives, for the most part, are ego tripping, arrogant cocksuckers.
There. I said it.

I live in Seattle.. This kind of stupid shit happens everyday in this great uber-liberal empire.. The bonfire thing is just one more annoying and trendy yet amazingly ineffective bit of ‘green’ posturing by our beloved mayor.. Does it surprise anyone that it actually accomplishes nothing? Isn’t “lots of talk and regulation with no discernable positive result” actually found under the definition of Progressive? The bonfire thing is petty and mean.. but there are more insidious and evil pieces of social engineering going on here.. Multimillion dollar junky shooting galleries..uhh, I mean high tech restrooms.. hundreds of millions for sports arenas that were voted down by the people but built by the government with our money.. Various transportation systems voted in..voted out.. going nowhere.. underfunded.. perpetually under construction..Welfare housing projects so the unemployed can afford to live in the heart of the action on the dole while the working class cant afford to rent in town Or my favorite bitch.. the selling off of all the parking lots to build new skyscrapers on… Parking has gone up like gas in the last ten years.. Used to be $5 a day.. Now $12 Looks cheap.. Greed or social engineering to get us forcibly onto buses and light rail.. who knows? You want to see a city with all the potential in the world totally squandered by progressive lib-dem fucktards? Come visit Seattle.

I seem to recall a great deal of wailing and gnashing of teeth when they suddenly discovered their Oil-for-Kickbacks gravy train was getting derailed. So, you know, whatever makes ‘em cry sounds like a good idea to me.
