Adieu, ancien regime…(The Sanity Inspector)

Nepal is now Asia’s newest republic, though its leader is no John Adams.   And the deposed King Gyanendra has been given 15 days to vacate his palace.   The king came to the notice of PW readers some years ago, here.  Sad to think the Nepalese are trading all that in for Mao caps.

I wouldn’t worry about it. Nepal and Bhutan are essentially India’s protectorates. India would not tolerate a regime that went full blown Maoist.

Hmmm, the New Power Guy is a fan of the Shining Path guerillas.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and predict this will all end badly.

I suppose the “given 15 days to vacate his palace” bit is better than getting the Louis XVI/Charles I/Ceaucescu/Mussolini treatment.
