Barry prepares for this morning’s speech [Darleen Click]

Barry PoppinsIf there are any doubts on how Mr. Hopey-changy will be approaching the cocklebur of Pastor Wright’s unfortunate turns of phrase, rest assured the practically perfectly post-racialist will not permit sentiment to muddle his candidacy.

“I think it would have been naive for me to think I could run and end up with quasi-front-runner status in a presidential election as potentially the first African-American president, that issues [of] race wouldn’t come up, any more than Sen. Clinton could expect that gender issues might not come up,” Obama told interviewer Gwen Ifill on PBS’s “NewsHour With Jim Lehrer.”

“I think we’ve got to talk about it,” he added. “I think we’ve got to process it. But we’ve got to remind ourselves that what we have in common is far more important than what’s different and that if we’re going to solve any of these problems, we’ve got to come together and bridge our differences in ways that we just have not bridged them before.” [...]

“To the extent that, you know, the conversation over the last couple of days has been dominated by some stupid statements that were made by Rev. Wright, but also caricatures of Rev. Wright and Trinity United Church of Christ — which, by the way, is part of a denomination that is overwhelmingly white — you know, I think that that has distracted us from the possibilities of moving beyond some of these arguments,” Obama said. [...]

“I think that, you know, when you look at somebody like a Rev. Wright who grew up in the ’50s or ’60s, his experience of race in this country is very different than mine,” Obama told Ifill. “Now, we benefit from that past. We benefit from the difficult battles that were taking place. But I’m not sure that we benefit from continuing to perpetuate the anger and the bitterness that I think, at this point, serves to divide rather than bring us together. And that’s part of what this campaign has been about, is to say, ‘Let’s acknowledge a difficult history, but let’s move forward in a practical way to get things done.’”

Super….!

    - They are absolutely convinced, uber ghietzen, austi El Grande’, superfragelisticexpealidociously convinced that chaginess is the way to go. Change-didley cha-chingety-change-aling-ga-ling-ling.

    - Problem is, no one, not anyone, not anywhere, has ever heard a smidgling of detail concerning the specific goals of this changiness. The closest the Lame-of-the-Left get to anything that could be propped up to pretend its a specific idea for change is some blurry notion that they intend to make all the troops come at gunpoint, abandon Iraq in some sort of mass genocide, and hide under their beds.

    - On the social front they want to abandon sanity and turn the entire health care field over to the government, so every American has no health care worth mentioning. I guess what with Social Security drying up, they are in desperate need of a new pork barrel.

    - Well at least hes going to clear up all the questions surrounding the race thing, and explain to us why getting angry when his Pastor calls us murdering thieves is “out of context”, and simply because we don’t understand the Black experience.

    - I can’t wait to watch Rosey scratch her snatch, belch, and belt out “G_d damn America” at the super bowl next year.

    - Heres to identity politics, a powerful force for bringing us all together.

Who is he trying to kid, here?

sdn – His denomination very well may be. His Church isn’t. His pastor’s message isn’t.

People’s complaints and concerns have little to do with race. The message, on the other hand, is quite objectionable.

My Great-Aunt Marian, God rest her soul, was born immediately on the heels of the turn of the 20th Century, and yet I don’t think they black assistants at the old-folks’ home were in any mood to give her or any of her generation a hall pass with regard to being referred to as “Negroes” or worse. Despite their Generation of origin, and despite dementia, I am sure they really were just old crackers.

Obama is lying about what he knows and when he first knew it. Every word of his speech will be seen through the “Big Fat Liar” prism as far as I’m concerned. Other than that, he seems like a nice guy.

The denomination isn’t so much a denomination as it is an umbrella for the ‘believe whatever feels good’ churches.

The church itself? Wicked black, and let’s not be pretending otherwise. Sunday’s sermon was basically fuck whitey and don’t y’all be answering no questions either.

Not very unitey, IMHO. And I’ll believe that Barry wants to be the uniter when he goes to work on his new pastor and his fellow congregants.

Obama is right to condemn the message of extremists yet not to condemn the people. He’s going to come out stronger and more popular while more extremists will be called out for their looney extremism.

    He so rocks.

Obama will try and make the generational argument that the older blacks are angry and bitter because they were treated harshly etc. While this is true this doesn’t explain racist hip lyrics, racist black comedy which is seen on Def Comedy Jam etc, racist ” Younger” nation of Islam preachers or racist YOUNG Black DJs like Miss Jones in NYC. Now having exposed his little girls to these hate sermons we can expect their generation to be just as hateful.

Personally it would help me if Obambam explained R. Kelly. I just don’t get that.

    From the NYT –

Mr. Obama said Monday that in his speech, to be given at the National Constitution Center, he would “talk a little bit about how some of these issues are perceived from within the black church community, for example, which I think views this very differently.”

Stop with the excuses. As a white Mississippian, I’ve heard this kind of talk (excuses) from white folks, too. Think about it — Mississippi ranks lowest in the nation in just about everything — so who’s bringing the curve down? Take the blackest counties and the whitest counties and compare the data. Which have the highest illegitimacy, crime, etc? Where is it most dangerous for kids to attend school? For pedestrians to walk? What has caused white flight from the cities? Should white preachers sermonize about the black plague that has descended on society?

Stop with the excuses. Set a standard and make everyone live up to it. Regardless of their color. Say it, Barack.

  15. Comment by Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) on 3/18 @ 6:37 am #

    -“….Say it, Barack.”

    - Well see, thats part of the problem. Everytime he condemns the good Revs hate filled sermons, he hands a caviat on it. The problem at this point is that hes said so many things, including a list of temporizing excuses as transparent as the Rev himself, who unless hes completely senile, is simply rabble rousing, and doesn’t actually believe any of the propaganda himself.

    - Its just such a cheap way to build your flock, going for the demonizing card. In my mind that brings both the Rev and Obama down to the Rev Sharpton sort of huckster, and in itself, takes him out of presidential caliber consideration.

    - The comments themselves are so over the top feckless, that no one but a breathless member of the flock would think them anything but self-destructive and silly, they are so ridiculous.

    - What you have to wonder about is how the Barack political gang could have missed this so badly, because you just know that the Clintons finger prints are all over this. I’m convinced they had some part in pushing this back out into the public spotlight, watching him grin ear to ear on FOX last night, as he did his usual job of lying through his teeth, blaming, thats right, actually blaming the Reps for the Dems mess in Florida. I don’t think its possible for that asshole to talk without lying.

  16. Comment by JD on 3/18 @ 6:41 am #

BBH – I missed that about FL. How in the hell is it the Republicans fault that the DNC and the FL Dems cannot come to some kind of resolution? Barry O is just pissed that he got outsmarted in MI and FL. He lost. Wahhhh. I hope they disenfranchise the voters of MI and FL and see how they do in the general without those states being competitive.

A comment that Obama should have made to Rev. Wright somewhere during his tenure as a trusted spiritual advisor.

  18. Comment by Moultrie on 3/18 @ 7:01 am #

How about Obama answers questions from the press and the audience about the Hate America, Love FALN Terrorist, Hate Whitey UCC church he has been attending for 20 years. If he can’t stand for straight questions then he is certainly not worthy of consideration for the WH and probably should not hold any office.

  19. Comment by Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) on 3/18 @ 7:03 am #

    - JD…Slick Willey actually sat there with a shit eating grin on his face and repeated it glibly several times that the Florida Republican legislature was to blame for the Dem primary mess in Florida. You just can not believe the hubris of that lying fuckwad no matter how many times you see him do it. He also said that “All of the votes should count “even those people down in Porta Rico”. He is such a fucking closet racist. When the hell is Black America going to wake up to the way the Dmeocrats use them like rented mules.

    - As far as Obama, in this one instance I’m on his side because at least he stuck to his word and didn’t go back on his pledge. RobotBitch is back peddling her conoe in eight different directions, trying somehow to find a way to game the delegates from Mich. and Florida, and lying through both sides of her mouth about it. She knows without both states she has no chance to catch him in delgate count. Hell she has no realistic chance even with them, but she wants to get as close as possible so she can make the “big state” argument and send it to a floor fight where bugfuck Bill thinks he still has enough clout to win it for her.

I did not stick my cock in her mouth, nor my cigar in her box, of that woman, Miss Lewinsky. And if I did, she is a lying tart, a Republican conspiracy to ruin me, and Kyoto.

  22. Comment by Neo on 3/18 @ 10:56 am #

Just how is a President Obama going to take on those who’s intentions are genuinely evil, when he can’t confront the softer prejudice and misunderstanding in the church he has been attending for some 20 years ?

Talk about a lack of leadership.
