It goes against religious taboos in Iraq to involve women in fighting, but three recent suicide bombings carried out by women could indicate insurgents are growing increasingly desperate.The female suicide attacks come as U.S.-led coalition forces are increasingly catching militants suspected of training women to become human bombs or finding evidence of efforts by al-Qaida in Iraq to recruit women, according to military records.
With coalition forces pushing extremists out of former strongholds and shrinking their pool of potential recruits, the militants are being forced to come up with other methods to penetrate stiffened security measures, said Diaa Rashwan, who follows Islamic militancy for Egypt’s Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies.
“There’s a sense that this is an act of desperation,” said Col. Donald Bacon, a U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad.ÂÂ

When I was in Iraq a few months ago, we caught 3 teenage Iraqi boys with suicide vests on their way to a safe house. During interrogation (they were quite willing to talk and actually grateful to be caught) they revealed that they had each been homosexually raped by al Qaida insurgents and essentially given an ultimatum: become a suicide bomber (martyr to allah) or your family will be disgraced by you having taken it in the ass. This is the level of evil we are dealing with over there daily. This is done to women in exactly the same way. It’s even worse for them, because their own families will murder them for being raped so they might as well take out a few infidels on their way to hell.

Best to you on your deployment. Be advised, the stupid insurgents have been dead for some time now. Those that remain are quite cunning and still dangerous. That didn’t stop us from “martyring” plenty though, take the time to familiarize yourself with your AO’s atmospherics, and keep up to speed on their most recent TTPs and you guys will be very successful. The people are very much over the insurgency and their cooperation is the difference. Happy Hunting.
