Like God, the progressive mind works in mysterious ways. Take, for instance, this fascinating (from a clinical perspective) column by the Boston Globe’s Derrick Z. Jackson, “Bush’s blessed omission”— choice …

In a comment to one of Jeff’s posts on Monday, I wrote the following:

I should mention that the MSM continue to claim that 5 or 6 Iranians were abducted in Irbil from a “consulate,” even though the Pentagon denies that characterization of the building in question, and documents show that the Iranians were attempting to have the building designated a consulate, but that it hadn’t been accomplished.

This story, which provoked considerable media outrage, seems to have disappeared.  Does it have anything to do with Bush’s new shoot-to-kill approach in Baghdad?  Does it have anything to do with the soldiers abducted and executed by people dressed as American soldiers?

It would seem to be a simple matter to discover the official status of the building in question, one way or the other, but nobody in the MSM seems interested.

That’s the speculation nowCaptain Ed is on it, as is Roggio, who also has the story on bin Laden’s brother in law, murdered in Madagascar, apparently on a humanitarian mission to attempt to secure a homeland for kinkajous.

Equally disturbing is this Fox story that the Pentagon is holding back a report detailing Iran’s “meddling” in Iraq.

Why do I mention it?  Because apart from its inherent interest, it demonstrates that I’m so fucking smart.  Or paranoid.  Take your pick.

In a stunning display of both internet savvy and character judgment, leading Democrat Presidential candidate John Edwards has named his campaign’s blogmaster.

Markos Zuniga? Oliver Willis? Jane Hamsher?

No, friends. It’s even better than that. The Edwards …

Cool-a-Palooza [Dan Collins]

Word comes in that archaeologists have uncovered the remains of the settlement the builders of Stonehenge likely inhabited, and that it appears that large groups congregated there for ritual purposes.  It also appears that these groups were rather piggish about disposing of their party waste, which is viewed as a boon by the scientists.  No word about the relative affluence of banshees so far.

Now that “big names including Leonardo Di Caprio, Orlando Bloom, KT Tunstall, Pink, The Killers, Razorlight and Josh Hartnett have thrown their weight behind the worldwide effort to beat climate change,” I think it’s only a matter of weeks before Thom Yorke begins organizing Cool-a-Palooza! (or possibly Gaia-Palooza!).  Will Kate Moss put her weight behind it?

Of course, the sound system will be powered entirely by windmills, and of course the audience will pack out all of their trash, and every jot will be recycled, and none of the congregants will display the kind of orgiastic, slovenly overconsumption of those dreadful neolithic Stonehengers.  That’s a given.  Will Mobius Dick be there?  I don’t know.  But I’m wondering how you envision the festivities.  Please contribute your clairvoyance below.
