Oh look! People have ObamaCare, but no doctor! Unexpectedly [Darleen Click]

And they call it, “medical homelessness”

While open enrollment for coverage under the Affordable Care Act is closed, many of the newly insured are finding they can’t find doctors, landing them into a state described as “medical homelessness.”

Rotacare, a free clinic for the uninsured in Mountain View, is dealing with the problem firsthand.

Mirella Nguyen works at the clinic said staffers dutifully helped uninsured clients sign up for Obamacare so they would no longer need the free clinic.

But months later, the clinic’s former patients are coming back to the clinic begging for help. “They’re coming back to us now and saying I can’t find a doctor, “said Nguyen. [...]

Those who can’t find a doctor are supposed to lodge a complaint with state regulators, who have been denying the existence of a doctor shortage for months.

Meanwhile, the sick and insured can’t get appointments. [...]

Experts said the magnitude of the problem is growing, and will soon be felt by all Californians. But those on the front lines, like the free clinic, are feeling it first.

More than 3 million Californians are newly insured. At the same time, a third of our primary care doctors are set to retire.

So, it will be interesting to see if certain Leftist apparatchiks extolling the virtues of cheap, accessible medical care under ObamaCare have anything substantive to say …

But I won’t hold my breath.

CA Gov Jerry Brown’s ‘prison realignment’ racks up more victims [Darleen Click]

Here’s just another example in the long line of “non-violent offenders” being released from state prison under AB109.

A man on probation as a “non-violent offender” under California’s prison realignment program has been charged with kidnapping, raping, and torturing a 16-year-old girl in South Los Angeles, and detectives suspect he may be connected to three other recent murders.

Robert L. Ranson, 30, was arrested in late March after the girl escaped from a U-Haul van in an alley near Imperial Highway and New Hampshire Ave., according to police and booking records.

The girl was covered in gasoline and said her attacker, later identified as Ranson, had tied her hands and taped her mouth, and was trying to light her on fire when she ran away, naked. [...]

Now, LAPD detectives are looking for evidence that could link Ranson to the murders of two women and a child.

On March 2nd the body of a 19-year-old woman was found near 93rd St. and Grand Ave. She had been tied-up and set on fire.

On March 5th, 28-year-old Grisella Yauli and her 1-year-old son were found dead after a house fire on E. 50th St. Yauli had been tied up and her mouth was taped shut. [...]

He was considered a non-violent offender because his most recent prison term was for possession of a firearm by a felon.

Ranson had previously served time for two carjackings and an assault with a firearm, prison officials said.

Yet Californians are poised to re-elect Moonbeam.

Pethokoukis: “Jacking up investment taxes to reduce income inequality is a bad idea”

Me: no shit.*

A million economic monkeys banging away on a million Keynesian typewriters. That’s the only way an idea like this can be produced. Because it’s certainly not the product of anything sentient.

BREAKING: “Obama administration delays Keystone XL decision, potentially until after Nov. elections”

Just like he pushed back a number of ObamaCare provisions until after the elections in order to shield vulnerable Democrats.

Here’s the blunt truth that leftist apologists will never admit: Obama knows Obamacare is a coup, a wedge that effectively eviscerates individual rights and, perhaps too, religious freedom; Obama knows that domestic energy production drives down costs, increases industry, frees up capital, and allows people to escape from governmental dependency. He knows these things and he wants these things.

That’s what fundamental transformation has always been about, that’s what Alinsky’s Marxism, which our President supped on throughout his academic career has always been dedicated to — eradicating the middle class — and that’s what Obama and his progressive ideologues want to see happen: the end of America’s reign as a superpower and its relegation to just another bureaucraticly-run social welfare state, with the ruling class determining winners and losers, and no uppity Bill of Rights to block their way.

They are weakening the military, weakening the currency, arming their bureaucratic agencies, and driving up debt and cost in order to strain the system.

Everything this President and his cabinet does is politically motivated and based upon the “pragmatism” of the ends justifying the means.

The cynical endgame with every move toward Marxist utopianism is liberal fascism — a ruling elite and its preferred business partners colluding to form a permanent symbiotic relationship that drives off competition and entrenches power and wealth.

That they are able to sell this as “social justice” or “compassion” is one of the great ironies of our times, particular given the historical record the world provides us.

Useful idiots are abundant. But mostly, takers take — and so long as they get theirs, the immorality of their support for usurpers, thieves, and tyrants doesn’t much bother them.

Which is awfully sad.

“A Trillion Dollars Later, Obama Warns of ‘Potholes the Size of Canyons’”

Which, it’s probably a good idea to “invest” in our infrastructure, say, by way of some stimulus money, which will create shovel-ready jobs.  Sounds crazy, I know, but it could work.  Think of all the unemployed who would benefit. Not to mention that we’d be adding value to our federal real estate, which is the patriotic thing to do, is it not?  Now.  Who’s with me?

President Obama has been complaining about America’s supposed “crumbling roads and bridges” for well over six years. But now, in a renewed push for yet more infrastructure spending, Obama is warning Americans of new, killer potholes.

In answering a question at a surprise press conference Thursday, Obama said:

“There’s no reason that [infrastructure] has to be political. There really isn’t any ideological disagreement on that, and I guarantee you after this winter, you look at the potholes the size of canyons all across big chunks of the United States, people would like to see an infrastructure bill.”

Never mind that way back in 2009, the President and Democrats pushed through a nearly trillion-dollar stimulus bill designed to boost “shovel ready” jobs. But apparently five years later, those roads and bridges are still crumbling and the president wants even more spending.

Yes, to fix the crumbling roads and bridges and to invest in AMERICA. Seriously. Why are you such haters? Is it because you’re racist? I’m outraged!

“‘We may never know’: Census changes may obscure impact of ObamaCare”

Most transparent administration ever.  Redux.

Not even the nation’s official head-counter will be able to keep track of the comprehensive impact of ObamaCare, critics warn.

The Census Bureau is in the midst of significantly changing its survey questions on health care, which some fear will make it difficult to give an accurate reading of how many people have gained insurance under the law.

The change was first reported by The New York Times. Republicans are now accusing the administration of overhauling the survey in order to obscure the effects of the Affordable Care Act.

“If the administration truly wants to know how many people have insurance today because of the health law, it will swiftly reverse course,” House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton, R-Mich., said in a statement. “Did the health law work to insure the uninsured? A simple check of a box could answer that question. Sadly, we may never know — and the administration seems just fine with that.”

ObamaCare enrollment ended for virtually everyone on Tuesday. The administration has touted that 7.5 million people signed up on the private exchanges, and more through Medicaid, since October.

But that number may be misleading. The administration still has not said how many people have paid their first month’s premium and, perhaps more importantly, how many people had simply signed up on the exchanges after being kicked off their old plans. The administration has not been able to provide a number showing the net increase in insurance coverage.

Enter the Census Bureau. It was seen as a relatively reliable way to track the presumed increase in coverage. But changes in the survey questions have raised concerns that the bureau cannot offer an apples-to-apples comparison.

Asked about the changes, administration officials stressed to Fox News that they could at least gather one year-to-year comparison that is consistent. The new questions will cover the 2013 year, an official said, so “there will be a full year of data to compare to the year ACA takes effect.”

Further, officials said the changes were years in the making, and that they were tested in 2010 and 2013 and found to work better.

“The recent changes to the Current Population Survey’s questions related to health insurance coverage is the culmination of 14 years of research and two national tests in 2010 and 2013 clearly showing the revised questions provide more precise measures of health insurance through improved respondent recall,” Census Bureau Director John Thompson said in a statement.

The Census Bureau has been at the center of political accusations since the very start of the Obama administration. Back in 2009, the administration decided to make the Census Bureau director work with the White House — and not just the Commerce secretary — leading to charges that the new Obama White House was trying to exert control over the ostensibly nonpartisan agency.

The latest report revived those claims.

“How convenient,” Brendan Buck, spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner, tweeted in reference to the Times report.

Rory Cooper, spokesman for House GOP Leader Eric Cantor, tweeted that the administration is “now changing the CENSUS survey in order to hide failure of Obamacare.”

Nothing of the sort, officials suggest.

The Times reported that the changes were spearheaded by technical experts at the bureau.

One internal document reportedly said it was just “coincidental and unfortunate timing” that the changes were going live around the time of the ObamaCare implementation.

According to the Times, the old questions asked people if they had coverage at any point in the prior year. The new questions ask if they have insurance “at the time of the interview,” which in this case took place in February, March and April. Officials use that and other data to try to determine coverage over the last 15 months.

This is considered more accurate, according to the Times, because people often forget whether they had coverage in the past year when asked only that question.

Yeah.  People are kinda stupid, aren’t they.  Thank God we have bureaus and agencies and their experts hard at work to save us from our own faulty intelligence.  And thank God Obama — who is post partisan, pragmatic, and decidedly non-political or ideological — rearranged the way the Bureau’s Director reported.  Bringing the White House into the loop.

“Liberty Movement Rising”

Nothing here will be very new to longtime readers of this site, but it’s nice to hear it coming from other online sources, particularly those who have not yet been effectively marginalized by those who worked so diligently to label this site, early on in the Obama administration, unhelpful and “fringe.”  The home of a delusional provocateur and pseudo-intellectual whose message, a “fundamentally unserious” one, wouldn’t resonate with the dull masses “we” need to win over in order to secure electoral victories — as if winning elections were the sole goal of those with a vested interest in seeing this country fight off “fundamental transformation.”

Ironically, many of those same people are now some of the loudest proponents of the liberty movement — I dubbed it outlawry at the outset of my involvment, and posted of its makeup here, many years back — were, not too long ago, the very same people who derided us as Visigoths, Hobbits, fringe reactionaries, unhelpful, idealistic, purists, and True Believers.

Well, welcome aboard.  I guess.  At least, until the political winds begin shifting again, at which point you’ll likely blow with them.

Anyway, one of the sites that has long stood up for liberty is Zero Hedge.  And here’s Brandon Smith, of alt-market.com, with a guest post at Zero Hedge on what many of us have come to realize is brewing right beneath the surface of our civil society.  Much to the dismay, I’m sure, of the University of Denver’s Brian Kiteley, who was offended by (among other things) an observation I made back in 2006, back before this site was nixed from the polite company of the “conservative” opinion drivers.

“Freedom had been hunted round the globe; reason was considered as rebellion; and the slavery of fear had made men afraid to think. But such is the irresistible nature of truth, that all it asks, and all it wants, is the liberty of appearing.”  – Thomas Paine

The label of “fringe” is a common one used by statists, bureaucrats and paid shills in order to marginalize those who would stand against government corruption. The primary assertion being sold is that the “majority” joyously supports the establishment; and the majority, of course, is always right.

The liberty movement, which is a collection of numerous freedom organizations and political activists brought together by a shared philosophical bond, has been accused of “fringe” status for quite some time. With corporatist dominance over the mainstream media for decades backing an elitist machine in Washington and a global banking cartel footing the bill with money created from thin air, any such accusation can be made to seem “real” to those who are unaware.

The problem has always been a matter of physical action giving rise to an acknowledgment of numbers.

The liberty movement has just experienced one of its first great moments of realization and empowerment in Clark County, Nev., and millions of past naysayers have been shell-shocked.

I covered my views in detail on the Bundy Ranch saga in Nevada in my article “Real Americans Are Ready To Snap,” amid the usual choir of disinformation agents and nihilists desperate to convince Web audiences that the liberty movement would do nothing to stop the Bureau of Land Management’s militant assault on Cliven Bundy’s cattle farm. This assault included hundreds of Federal agents, helicopters, contractors hired essentially as cattle rustlers and even teams of snipers.

The statists and socialists were certainly out in force to misrepresent the Bundy issue and frighten anyone who might consider taking a stand for the family. The Southern Poverty Law Center, not surprisingly, was hard at work spreading lies and disinformation about the confrontation in Nevada, painting a picture of fractured patriot groups and militiamen with “little training” going to face unstoppable Federal BLM agents and likely “ending up dead.” The SPLC insinuated that the movement was ineffective and in over its head.

The reality was much the opposite. Liberty groups arrived in droves and were staunchly unified — not by a centralized leadership, but in defense of the basic moral principles outlined in the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. Sources on the ground at the Bundy ranching operation relayed to me that at least 1,000 activists and militia members arrived over the weekend, with many more on the way. This one event proved certain points:

  1. The liberty movement is not afraid to put itself in harm’s way for the right cause — even if this means facing off against highly armed government thugs.
  2. The liberty movement has the ability to field a response team or even an army anywhere in the country at any time within a couple of days.
  3. The liberty movement has the ability to change the course of events, even to the point of removing Federal agents from a region who are acting in an unConstitutional manner.
  4. The Federal government is not invincible, nor is it unfazed by liberty movement opposition. They worry about our strength and ability.

Over the past weekend, we witnessed the true influence of the liberty movement. As thousands of activists and militia arrived in the area, the BLM finally began to understand what it was facing. The government agency that has been terrorized farming communities throughout the West for years, the agency armed with military-grade weaponry and hundreds of agents, ran away, as freedom fighters descended on the region.

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval and Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie, two politicians who were deathly silent during the beginning of the Federal incursion on the Bundy ranch, have now suddenly become vocal in defense of Nevada ranchers against the BLM. It’s amazing how “inspired” politicians can become to do the right thing when they see an army of liberty activists marching against tyranny in their own backyard.

Statists are indignant and furious over the surrender of the BLM. The same people who boasted that liberty activists would be slaughtered by Fed agents are now frothing at the mouth because they did not get their massacre. Not only that, but the bureaucracy they worship has shown itself to be impotent in the face of Constitutional champions. All I can say is nothing puts a bigger grin on my face than to see statists cry like babies when their delusions of grandeur are trampled on.

This was a major victory for the liberty movement. But let’s be clear; the fight is just beginning.

I suspect that the Bundy event will be spun by news agencies and the government until it is unrecognizable. They will claim that the BLM left not because they were wrong, but because they were trying to keep people safe. They will claim that liberty movement protesters were the aggressors and the poor BLM agents were just trying to do their jobs. They will play the race card as they always do, much like this pathetically lazy and unprofessional article from Slate, which asserts that if the Bundy’s had been black, the Liberty Movement would have never supported them. They will argue the so-called Federal legality of the raid itself, and paint Bundy as a “freeloader” who refuses to pay taxes and who is living off the American people. They will do everything in their power to destroy the image of the victory and soil the name of the Bundy family.

What they don’t seem to understand, though, is that the liberty movement does not care what the Federal government deems “legal” or “illegal.” Our only interest is what is Constitutional and what is moral. The dispute was never about the “legality” of Bundy’s use of the land, which his family used for grazing without interference for generations — until 1993, when the BLM used the absurd endangered species protection racket to put all of his neighbors out of business and threaten his ranch with invasion.  Add to this the recently discovered fact that Senator Harry Reid’s former assistant and friend Neil Kornze is now head of the BLM due to Reid’s influence, and the fact that Harry Reid and his family are reaping financial rewards by driving farmers from all over the region where Cliven Bundy’s ranch sits while arranging land deals with Chinese solar companies, and one has to ask, why should Bundy pay any of his hard earned money to the federal government when they are just going to use it to bulldoze his cattle and make Harry Reid more rich?

Disinformation websites like Snopes contend that Reid’s “projects” are not being established anywhere near the Bundy Ranch, yet, one such project has already been launched only 35 miles south of Bundy, and, the BLM has erased a page from its website specifically mentioning the Bundy Ranch and it’s “interference” with Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone Projects, the same projects Harry Reid and his son are heavily involved in.

What is amazing to me is that in light of this information hardcore socialists are still willing to defend Reid and the BLM.  My question is, if the BLM is so innocent, then why are they erasing such data from their website at all?  What were they trying to hide?

Harry Reid has not responded to the facts behind his financial involvement in the BLM’s attacks on Nevada farmers, except to say that they are “conspiracy theories”.  He added when asked about the status of the confrontation:

“Well, it’s not over. We can’t have an American people that violate the law and then just walk away from it. So it’s not over…”

Yes, Harry, it won’t be over until men like you are thrown behind bars.

Note that he says “an American people”; as if he is separate, as if he is referring to all of us as a subservient organism, or servant class.  What Reid is saying is, the elites can’t have “an American people” openly exposing their criminality and defying their tyranny, and then just walking away.  I’m sorry to break it to Reid, but that is exactly how all of this is going to end.

Statists and bureaucrats like Reid continually attempt to argue this issue from the standpoint of Federal legality, obviously because the Federal government has the legislative and bureaucratic power to make any despicable action legal (at least on paper) if it wishes. However, the liberty movement has no interest whatsoever in Federal interpretations of legal precedence. We are only concerned with what is right. As the old saying goes, when injustice becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.

The liberty movement also fully understands that the Bundy victory was only one battle at the beginning of a long war.

The BLM may very well be waiting for activists to leave the area before attacking again. And even if that is not the case, tyrannical systems have a way of attempting to make up for signs of weakness by escalating violence during the next siege. That is to say, we should expect the next event involving the BLM or other government agencies to be even more vicious than the Bundy incident. It is simply the natural inclination of totalitarian systems to exaggerate their power when their failings have been exposed.

That said, it should be noted that corrupt leadership often crumbles in the face of steadfast resolve and courage. We have a long way to go before this Nation is once again truly free, but the liberty movement has proven its invaluable worth over the course of the past several days. We arrived at a crossroads, and we are now moving forward in the right direction — without fear and without regret.

Well said, sir.  And let me just add this:  outlaw!

Oh, how several right-side bloggers who now consider themselves, on the cutting edge of this “new” liberty movement used to sneer at that coda.   Something that they’re going to have to live with forever and ever and ever, a permanent internal stain they can never remove.

Knowing which adds a bit of sunshine to my day.

“Jews ordered to register in east Ukraine”

Too bad it isn’t illegals they’re ordering to register.   Otherwise, we might be able to get our government to condemn this.  And actually mean it.

USA Today:

Jews in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk where pro-Russian militants have taken over government buildings were told they have to “register” with the Ukrainians who are trying to make the city become part of Russia, according to Ukrainian and Israeli media.

Jews emerging from a synagogue say they were handed leaflets that ordered the city’s Jews to provide a list of property they own and pay a registration fee “or else have their citizenship revoked, face deportation and see their assets confiscated,” reported Ynet News, Israel’s largest news website.

The leaflets bore the name of Denis Pushilin, who identified himself as chairman of “Donetsk’s temporary government,” and were distributed near the Donetsk synagogue and other areas, according to the reports.

Pushilin acknowledged that fliers were distributed under his organization’s name in Donetsk but denied any connection to them, Ynet reported in Hebrew.

Emanuel Shechter, in Israel, told Ynet his friends in Donetsk sent him a copy of the leaflet through social media.

“They told me that masked men were waiting for Jewish people after the Passover eve prayer, handed them the flier and told them to obey its instructions,” he said.

The leaflet begins, “Dear Ukraine citizens of Jewish nationality,” and states that all people of Jewish descent over 16 years old must report to the Commissioner for Nationalities in the Donetsk Regional Administration building and “register.”

It says the reason is because the leaders of the Jewish community of Ukraine supported Bendery Junta, a reference to Stepan Bandera, the leader of the Ukrainian nationalist movement that fought for Ukrainian independence at the end of World War II, “and oppose the pro-Slavic People’s Republic of Donetsk,” a name adopted by the militant leadership.

The leaflet then described which documents Jews should provide: “ID and passport are required to register your Jewish religion, religious documents of family members, as well as documents establishing the rights to all real estate property that belongs to you, including vehicles.”

Consequences for non-compliance will result in citizenship being revoked “and you will be forced outside the country with a confiscation of property.” A registration fee of $50 would be required, it said.

Olga Reznikova, 32, a Jewish resident of Donetsk, told Ynet she never experienced anti-Semitism in the city until she saw this leaflet.

“We don’t know if these notifications were distributed by pro-Russian activists or someone else, but it’s serious that it exists,” she said. “The text reminds of the fascists in 1941,” she said referring to the Nazis who occupied Ukraine during World War II.

The Jewish community in Donetsk issued in a statement saying the flyers distribution “smells like a provocation.”

“Who is behind this is an open question,” Rabbi Pinkhas Vishedski said in the statement, according to CNN. Vishedski said they are a provocation “and should be treated accordingly … full stop and end of topic.”

Morton Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America, the oldest pro-Israel group in the USA, said the leaflets should be seen in the context of a rising tide of anti-Semitism across Europe and the world, and that it should prompt a strong response from the White House.

“This is a frightening new development in the anti-Jewish movement that is gaining traction around the world,” Klein said.

U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt called the leaflets “the real deal,” and not representative of the Ukraine’s government in Kiev.

Secretary of State John Kerry called the incident “grotesque.”

Would that be the same John Kerry who has consistently berated Israel and spoken of its recalcitrance, aiding those who paint it as an apartheid state?  The same John Kerry whose progressive allies here in the US have been engaging in almost ritualized hate of Jewish organizations on university campuses?  The same John Kerry who was appointed Secretary of State by a President who spent 20-years listening to his spiritual mentor blame Jews for the plight of poor blacks, who spoke glowingly of Edward Said and other terrorists, and who has welcomed — and defended — the Muslim Brotherhood, whose stated goal is the destruction of the West?  The same John Kerry whose party embraces with reverence people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, both of whom have shown the same kind of anti-semitic streak as the Klan who once ran their party in the South?  The same John Kerry who shares an ideological kinship with Jimmy Carter, who has yet to find a repulsive despot he wouldn’t fluff, or turn down an opportunity to paint Israel as a “racist” state?

I’ll tell you what is “grotesque”:  it’s that the left — with Obama as its figurehead — who has overtaken our government has sent the signal worldwide that Jew hatred, in the course of the Greater Good, is perfectly okay, be it through divestment or through going after “big banking,” etc.  And they have been aided by the leftists in academia, who stir up anti-Zionism, along with all the self-hating Jews who vote Democrat in order to assure the cosmopolitan Jew haters that they’re sufficiently nuanced in their thinking to recognize the repugnance of their own heritage.

Never again?  Perhaps.

But that doesn’t mean that some leftist or nationalist movement in need of demons won’t attempt to use the Jews as its scapegoat.  And I wouldn’t count a lick on the US, in its current state, to stop them.

Michael Salberg, director of the international affairs at the New York City-based Anti-Defamation League, said it’s unclear whether the leaflets were issued by the pro-Russian leadership or a splinter group operating within the pro-Russian camp.

But the Russian side has used the specter of anti-Semitism in a cynical manner since anti-government protests began in Kiev that resulted in the ousting of Ukraine’s pro-Russian former president Viktor Yanukovych. Russia and its allies in Ukraine issued multiple stories about the the threat posed to Jews by Ukraine’s new pro-Western government in Kiev, Salberg said.

Those stories were based in part on ultra-nationalists who joined the Maidan protests, and the inclusion of the ultra-nationalist Svoboda party in Ukraine’s new interim government. But the threat turned out to be false, he said.

Svoboda’s leadership needs to be monitored, but so far it has refrained from anti-Semitic statements since joining the government, he said. And the prevalence of anti-Semitic acts has not changed since before the Maidan protests, according to the ADL and the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union, which monitors human rights in Ukraine.

Distributing such leaflets is a recruitment tool to appeal to the xenophobic fears of the majority, “to enlist them to your cause and focus on a common enemy, the Jews,” Salberg said.

And by targeting Donetsk’s Jews, they also send a message to all the region’s residents, Salberg said.

“The message is a message to all the people that is we’re going to exert our power over you,” he said. “Jews are the default scapegoat throughout history for despots to send a message to the general public: Don’t step out of line.”

And despotism comes from totalitarianism, which is the natural endpoint of leftist politics.   Whether it’s racial collectivism or some other form, the necessity to purify the citizenry on the road to Utopia is a common theme.  One that Bill Ayers, a guy from Obama’s neighborhood, took quite seriously, to boot.

Is this just a provocation?  Possibly. But history teaches us we best take the threat seriously.  Which is why the left so often needs to whitewash or rewrite history in the first place.

“86M Full-Time Private-Sector Workers Sustain 148M Benefit Takers”

Once too many people learn they can vote themselves other people’s money / labor / liberty, well…

Buried deep on the website of the U.S. Census Bureau is a number every American citizen, and especially those entrusted with public office, should know. It is 86,429,000.

That is the number of Americans who in 2012 got up every morning and went to work — in the private sector — and did it week after week after week.

These are the people who built America, and these are the people who can sustain it as a free country. The liberal media have not made them famous like the polar bear, but they are truly a threatened species.

It is not a rancher with a few hundred head of cattle that is attacking their habitat, nor an energy company developing a fossil fuel. It is big government and its primary weapon — an ever-expanding welfare state.

First, let’s look at the basic taxonomy of the full-time, year-round American worker.

In 2012, according to the Census Bureau, approximately 103,087,000 people worked full-time, year-round in the United States. “A full-time, year-round worker is a person who worked 35 or more hours per week (full time) and 50 or more weeks during the previous calendar year (year round),” said the Census Bureau. “For school personnel, summer vacation is counted as weeks worked if they are scheduled to return to their job in the fall.”

Of the 103,087,000 full-time, year-round workers, 16,606,000 worked for the government. That included 12,597,000 who worked for state and local government and 4,009,000 who worked for the federal government.

The 86,429,000 Americans who worked full-time, year-round in the private sector, included 77,392,000 employed as wage and salary workers for private-sector enterprises and 9,037,000 who worked for themselves. (There were also approximately 52,000 who worked full-time, year-round without pay in a family enterprise.)

At first glance, 86,429,000 might seem like a healthy population of full-time private-sector workers. But then you need to look at what they are up against.

The Census Bureau also estimates the size of the benefit-receiving population.

This population, too, falls into two broad categories. The first includes those who receive benefits for public services they performed or in exchange for payroll taxes they dutifully paid their entire working lives. Among these, for example, are those receiving veteran’s benefits, those on unemployment and those getting Medicare and Social Security.

The second category includes those who get “means-tested” government benefits — or welfare. These include, for example, those who get Medicaid, food stamps, Supplemental Security Income, public housing, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, and Women, Infants Children.

Let’s examine this second category first, which the Census Bureau reports as “anyone residing in a household in which one or more people received benefits from the program.”

In the last quarter of 2011, according to the Census Bureau, approximately 82,457,000 people lived in households where one or more people were on Medicaid. 49,073,000 lived in households were someone got food stamps. 23,228,000 lived in households where one or more got WIC. 20,223,000 lived in households where one or more got SSI. 13,433,000 lived in public or government-subsidized housing.

Of course, it stands to reason that some people lived in households that received more than one welfare benefit at a time. To account for this, the Census Bureau published a neat composite statistic: There were 108,592,000 people in the fourth quarter of 2011 who lived in a household that included people on “one or more means-tested program.”

147,802,000 non-veteran benefit takers outnumbered the 86,429,000 full-time private sector workers 1.7 to 1.

How much more can the 86,429,000 endure?

As more baby boomers retire, and as Obamacare comes fully online — with its expanded Medicaid rolls and federally subsidized health insurance for anyone earning less than 400 percent of the poverty level — the number of takers will inevitably expand. And the number of full-time private-sector workers might also contract.

Eventually, there will be too few carrying too many, and America will break.

– Either that, or those who do pay taxes engage in civil disobedience and make the IRS came after every last one of the nearly 86.5 million who are among the actual owners the government, but who seem to be losing their representation when it comes to matters of taxation — thanks to an ever-expanding welfare state into which Democrats and Republicans alike (in an act of love, naturally) want to give citizenship to an additional 20 million illegals, many of whom are probably already on some sort of public assistance, and who will further drain the system once they can apply for all benefits legally.

That, too, would break America, but it would do so in a way that showed just who exactly is in charge.

Meh, who are we kidding. The government would just print itself more money and cause hyperinflation.  Because it’s appetite for spending is insatiable, and the fact that the money it’s spending doesn’t exist isn’t going to stop it from splurging anyway.

After all, the Weimar Republic was just another bump in the road to Paradise, amiright?  I mean, lots of carbon polluters were retired in that golden age of purification.

Next plank in “environmental” social engineering movement is being laid

And who better to throw out this particular trial balloon than Think Progress. “Why Air Pollution Is A Racial Issue“:

A study produced by the University of Minnesota concluded that race is a determining factor in who is most affected by air pollution. Specifically, non-white people breathe air that is substantially more polluted than the air that white people breathe.

According to Julian Marshall, who led the University’s research, race outweighed income in regards to who is most affected by poor air quality. When low-income white people were compared to high-income Hispanic people, the latter group experienced higher levels of nitrogen dioxide. Altogether, people of color in the U.S. breath air with 38 percent more nitrogen dioxide in it than their white counterparts, particularly due to power plants and exhaust from vehicles.

“We were quite surprised to find such a large disparity between whites and nonwhites related to air pollution,” Marshall told the Minnesota Post. “Especially the fact that this difference is throughout the U.S., even in cities and states in the Midwest.”

Some other evidence has also pointed to disproportionately high levels of air pollution in low-income and non-white communities. A 2012 study conducted by Yale University researchers revealed that “potentially dangerous compounds such as vanadium, nitrates and zinc” exist in locations with high concentrations of people of color, including African-Americans, Hispanics, and Asians. Unfortunately, people of color contribute the least amount of air pollutants, despite being the most heavily impacted by them.

Air pollution is not the only health issue that race factors into, as public health is riddled with racial implications on a broader level. Racial bias plays a role in doctor-patient interactions, and some groups, namely African-Americans, live with chronic diseases stemming from racial discrimination.

Leave it to the left to come up with such a preposterous unified theory of racism, but hey, they are who they are and they do what they do.  So it’s really not surprising that they want us now to believe global warming, disproportionately caused by whites, is a racist plot.

But that aside, let’s see if we can figure out what’s going on here:  Even assuming the air quality data accumulated is the result of whites stealing the better, cleaner air from people of color — this includes low-income whites, who connive in some racist manner to get better air than high-income Hispanics, eg., a result that cannot possibly be accounted for by way of other variables (like, for instance, choice of living space, genetics, geographical locale, etc., vocation, an outsized love of spray paint, etc) — or that the health care data has nothing to do with ability to pay, insurance, lifestyle choices, or other factors, but is rather decisively proof that racism is rampant in both the private health care field and the very geographical layout of the United States (both of which, I’m just going to say candidly, is one of the single stupidest things I’ve ever read), the question the left wants us to consider is what can “we” (read: government) do about this rampant racist violation of civil rights?

I noted here some time back that the feds under Obama, specifically via HUD, were tracking neighborhood “diversity” with an eye toward “fixing” the “problem” of segregated neighborhoods through some future social engineering policies that would most likely look to create neighborhood quotas based on race. And now it’s clear how they plan to do this:  by appealing to  “public safety” (air quality among minorities is worse than air quality in places where air-stealing whites are coughing out their poisonous CO2) and a more pristine “environment.”  Call it “air-quality inequality,” have Nancy Pelosi (and Colin Powell) declare it almost certainly racist, and run with it!

Add to that the throwaway bit about the racism of health care providers — who, I take it, are going to be forced to take on a certain percentage of patients “of color” in order to end the institutionalized racism that causes, say, sickle cell, or heart disease in higher numbers among blacks — and we have essentially the rationale for a “civil right” to use racial quotas and demand that doctors, in order to obtain licenses, agree to just such a government mandate.

Forget the fact that social engineering created the kind of low-income, racially-divided housing projects that have been a blight on so many “liberal” cities.  Because that was then, and shut up, racists!  Now, the progressives are again the “civil rights” champions who will fix what they started out in good conscience to do — create a safe, affordable space for people of color — that it turns out has been a failure precisely because of the racism they now find embedded in global warming. Which they are alone willing to fight.

Back in 2007, I wrote that the Obama presidency would set race relations back 50 years, if not more.   Because far from a uniter, Obama has always been a hard-core leftist and agitator, a polished-up version of the race and poverty pimps who pretend to champion the little people while enriching themselves by sowing divisions. His entire past — at least, what we could gather from it — told us who he was.  All we had to do was open our eyes and not fear the inevitable cries of “racism” that to this day, after his two popular vote wins as President, are still thrown out should anyone dare to question him on policy.  As if his policies are themselves “of color,” rather than part of a all-encompassing ideology that embraces racialism in order to exploit it.

Pointing this out was, naturally, “unhelpful” at the time — after all, Obama was just a garden variety Democrat and a Good Man who wanted what was best for the country, and besides, he was HISTORIC, and we couldn’t be seen as being hostile to HISTORICITY — but now it’s apparently cool to do so.  Though the chances you’re reading about it here rather than from one of the many many many many big right sites that marginalized me for saying then what they are finally saying now, are sadly quite slim.

Lick your finger and follow the winds!  Only then will you be taken seriously as a political commentator.  Or at least, land some cushy gig.

Or, you can do what I did:  tell the fucking truth and live with the fucking consequences.  Which is a bunch of knives in your back.  None of which were able to kill me.  Because I’m hard like that.
